Assignment 2: Un/Forming
Sarc 162: 2010
Light: Opacity: Concrete Inspired by Tadaos play of light on concrete slab, decided to create this effect on my model. This was achieved through the use of charcoal drawing then photocopying, altering constrast, and OHP overlays.
This structure will be nestled amongst the shelves of the library, with the shelves cut away to accomdate its irregular polygonal form. This was explored thorugh OHP transparencies layering of book shelves of varying degree of opacity.
Original Concept. not easily ac- Re-Orientated for better accessed. Disrupts browsing of cess. adjacent shelves quite drastically.
The shelf at is cut into a wedge Wedged into the exterior wall to sponsor better access to so as to receive natural light the structure. coming through the thin apertures of the structure.
This nestling concept is then translated into digital form. In doing so, more pragmatic decisions were made about the placement of the structure.

The main program that is mapped in this weeks exercise is the emotional effects upon the occupant. and also the paths of movment to access it.
The deepness of the blue resembles the moments compression and release upon the occupant. The brown is the interior monotony of the library. Books are the Book shelves. Lines are the Paths of movement.
The program to be achieved is the idea of an ethereal shrine nestled amongst the general system of the library. The shrine will be a private contemplative space. I will emphasize upon its the idea of it the structures concealed nature (a space you seem to stumble upon), solitary contemplation and the ethereal qualitities of light.
