Dear The President / Secretary General, The National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) is the coordinating body for youth organizations across Korea. Since 1994 we have been organizing the Korea ASEAN Future-Oriented Cooperation Project: Youth Exchange Program sponsored by ASEAN and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Korea (MOFAT). I am pleased to inform you that the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea is organizing The KoreaASEAN Youth Square 2011 for the KoreaASEAN Future-Oriented Cooperation Project: Youth Exchange Program. The Youth Square will be held in Seoul and Gangwon-do, Korea from November 8 to 14, 2011 in sincere cooperation with our esteemed partners of respective ASEAN nations. The theme of the Youth Square shall be Today and Tomorrow for Asian Youth through the Multimedia. This is in the realization of the significance of the youth role by sharing dreams and ambitions, participants will get inspired and motivated to become a global leader in their own country, in the Asian region and in the world. Therefore, I would like to invite 7 youths of your nation to the Youth Square. For you reference, I have attached the "Youth Square Briefing Paper" and "Nomination Form". 1. Date and Venue


Date : 8-14 November, 2011 Gangwon-do (Hyundai Sungwoo Resort, www.hdsungwoo.co.kr) Venue : Seoul (Int'l Youth Center, www.ncyok.or.kr/renew/eng)

2. Theme
"Today and Tomorrow for Asian Youth through the Multimedia" The Youth Square invites youths from ASEAN member states and Korea to present their stories of daily life, interests, concerns, hopes and dreams with UCC(video clip). Participants are given an opportunity to get inspired and motivated to formulate future, building a great foundation of Pan-Asian community in the global society. The overall theme of the Youth Square is 'Today and Tomorrow for Asian Youth through the Multimedia'. In the 'Today' category, participants are invited to share their interests, concerns with other fellow participants. And in the 'Tomorrow' category, they are invited to share their dreams and hopes as young Asians who will lead Asia's tomorrow. In each category of the Youth Square, participants are required to actively respond and participate before and during the session that is organized and monitored by relevant experts (resource persons) and qualified staff. Participants will be required to bring UCC(video clip) within 10 minutes that introducing the daily life, worries(troubles), interests, concerns, hopes, dreams of youths. In addition to the presentations of their own stories with UCC(video clip), participants are invited to join and work in team in various activities to inspire each other and develop hopes, dreams and the spirit of Asians can achieve more together.

3. Participant qualifications and nomination


a. 70 participants from ASEAN (7 participants from each nation) b. 20 participants from Korea and 10 Korean staff and volunteers c. Qualifications Between 18~25 years old One who has a good command of English (Official Language: English) One who has interest in making UCC(video clip) One who has substantial interest in the Korea-ASEAN relations with no previous record of visiting Korea

One who is endorsed by the organization that is authorized by NCYOK <NOTE> * Please note that the passport control at the airport in Korea has recently tightened due to the increasing number of visitors with irrelevant purposes. Those who can't prove a legitimate purpose of visit may not be allowed to enter Korea * NCYOK strongly advise all authorized organization to balance gender ratio of nominees.(4:3 or 3:4) * For the process of flight reservation, the above documents should arrive before or by October 5(Wed), 2011. * Among 7 nominees there must be more than one nominee who are good at UCC(video clip) making.

d. Selection The authorized organization of respective ASEAN nations is responsible for recruiting and selecting participants through own screening process. e. Nomination The authorized organization of respective ASEAN nations is advised to nominate 7 participants and have them fill out and submit the nomination form with an essay on "The future of ASEAN and Korea cooperation"(A4, 2 pages, font 12, Times New Roman, single-spaced) along with a scaned image of passport to the organizing committee (chojh@koreayouth.net) by October 5(Wed), 2011. If you fail to recruit participants by the deadline for the submission(October 5(Wed), 2011), we will contact other organizations of your country to select the participants. We will finalize the participants of the Youth Square by October 7(Fri), 2011.

4. Expenses
a. Transportation: NCYOK bears travel cost for ASEAN participants from a designated int'l airport in respective ASEAN nations to Incheon int'l airport (Seoul). NCYOK doesn't bear the travel cost from each participant's location to the designated int'l airport. Flight tickets will be sent via E-mail(e-ticket) or air express mail. b. Other expenses: NCYOK bears costs of accommodation, meals, and transportation within Korea throughout the event.

Pick-up service for reception and departure of ASEAN participants at the airport will be provided. NCYOK will offer all necessary software programs and computers for UCC(video clip) making. There is no participation fees for all ASEAN participants.

5. Entry Requirements
a. A valid passport is required to enter Korea b. Nationals of some countries require a visa to enter Korea
