cellular phones are practically just Ior communicating purposes, but by and by, cellular phones
are gradually Ior Iun and entertainment purposes. Most teenagers use inexpensive cell phones but
with more sophisticated menus. Highly technological applications are rooted to the memory oI

and SD cards.

Statement of the Problem:

O hat is the main purpose oI conducting this research?
O How many percent in the school`s vicinity do have cell phones?
O hat is really the student`s purpose oI having or owning a phone?
O How does owning a cell phone aIIect the students` behavior in the community?
O hich gender does usually use/own cell phone?

bjectives:

O %o know the main reason oI having cell phones.
O %o know the number oI students who own cell phones.
O %o gather inIormation about the students` main purpose oI having one.

Scope and Limitations:

In this research, we will be able to reach the peak oI mountain. %his study can be done
with limitations (e.g.limited inIormation in the internet). Except with the use oI the
questionnaires with which the interviews are plotted, this study can possibly be done.

O Survey Method
Research Instruments:
O "uestionnaires
O Internet

e used questionnaires to gather inIormation which can only be taken Irom the
individuals having or owning cellular phones.

e also considered the use oI internet surIing which generally helped us to gather more
sophisticated inIormation.

CHAPTER 4
Analysis of Data:
Survey says: ~Teenagers love Cell phones; Schools- not quite.
%eenagers have embraced text messaging as their main Iorm oI communication, but
mobile phones are oIten a source oI tension with parents and schools, a new survey Iinds.
At the same time, cell phones and teens` attachment to them are a source oI conIlict with parents

Presentation of Data

Graphical Presentation about the Students` Main Purpose in owning Cellular Phones

*%he graph above shows a survey on students` choice in using cell phones.

Interpretation of Data:

Mainly, students preIer to have cellular phone as a medium Ior communication. Out oI 40
students that we`ve interviewed, 38 preIer to use their cell phones Ior communication purposes.
On the other hand, 2 out oI 40 preIer to use their cell phones Ior entertainment purposes.

CHAPTER 5

Summary of findings and Conclusion:

%hereIore, as what this research suggests, not most oI the teenagers preIer having cellular
phones just Ior bragging, or Ior entertainment purposes, but most oI them preIer to have their
own phones Ior communication purposes.
Considering other researches, here are also some other summaries or results Ior us to
compare with
Cell-phone texting has become the preIerred channel oI basic communication between teens and
their Iriends, and cell calling is a close second. Some 75 oI 12-17 year-olds now own cell
phones, up Irom 45 in 2004. %hose phones have become indispensable tools in teen
communication patterns. Fully 72 oI all teens
2
or 88 oI teen cell phone users are text-
messagers. %hat is a sharp rise Irom the 51 oI teens who were texters in 2006. More than halI
oI teens (54) are daily texters.
Among all teens, their Irequency oI use oI texting has now overtaken the Irequency oI every
other common Iorm oI interaction with their Iriends (see chart below).
Daily text messaging by teens to Iriends has increased rapidly since early 2008. Some 38 oI
teens were daily texters in February 2008, and that has risen to 54 oI teens who use text daily
in September 2009. OI the 75 oI teens who own cell phones, 87 use text messaging at least
occasionally. Among those texters
HalI oI teens send 50 or more text messages a day, or 1,500 texts a month, and one in three send
more than 100 texts a day, or more than 3,000 texts a month.
15 oI teens who are texters send more than 200 texts a day, or more than 6,000 texts a month.
Boys typically send and receive 30 texts a day; girls typically send and receive 80 messages per
day.
%een texters ages 12-13 typically send and receive 20 texts a day.
14-17 year-old texters typically send and receive 60 text messages a day.
Older girls who text are the most active, with 14-17 year-old girls typically sending 100 or more
messages a day or more than 3,000 texts a month.
However, while many teens are avid texters, a substantial minority are not. One-IiIth oI teen
texters (22) send and receive just 1-10 texts a day or 30-300 a month.
