ORGANIZATIONAL CHART

APPLE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART Draw an organization chart of your/selected organization. Analyze its basic elements. Apple has an unconventional organization chart for an unconventional organization. The attached organization chart was in place when Steve Jobs was the CEO of Apple. The chart clearly indicates that the CEO is in the center of all decisions in the organization. No decision-maker at Apple is far removed from Steve Jobs. Through his tight-knit and largely long-serving executive team, Jobs quickly sees everything that goes on at the company. This organization chart, which includes most but not all Apple executive officers, is based on Fortunes reporting, in addition to some limited information Apple releases publicly (Lashinsky and Burke 2011). Tim Cook has made minimal role changes to the organizations executive leadership team. These changes indicate Cook isnt exactly keeping the business as it was under the late CEO Jobs. The organization chart provided by Fortune is broken down into three main sections: CEO, Senior Vice President, and Vice President. CEO Tim Cook has proven to be a very capable leader via his performances as acting CEO during Steve Jobs medical absences. The executive staff is comprised of very capable and experienced individuals with an average of 20 years experience with Apple. Since, Apple operates in a very secretive manner not much information on the organizations management functions and everyday operations are known. It is clear that the CEO is decision-maker of this large organization. Apple operates under the simple organizational structure format. The organizational chart is deceptively straightforward, with none of the dotted-line or matrix responsibilities popular elsewhere in the corporate world (Lashinsky & Burke 2011). A simple structure is described as

ORGANIZATIONAL CHART being flat, has only two or three vertical levels, a loose body of employees and one individual in whom the decision-making authority is centralized. Specialization at Apple is the norm, Apple

employees arent exposed to functions outside their area of expertise. Jobs saw specialization as a process of having best-in-class employees in every role, and he had no patience for building managers for the sake of managing. Steve would say, the general manager structure is bullshit and that it created fiefdoms (Lashinsky & Burke 2011). This organizational structure has proved to be effective in Apples success in the corporate world. CEO Cooks experience and his very capable executive team will enable Apple Inc. to continue to be in the forefront in developing technical products.
