Indian Citizen says: 27/06/2011 at 15:28 Hi Monika, You can enroll for UID @ your polling station or call to you area SDM office to know its feasibility or you can go @ Canara Bank, First Floor, Jeevan Bharti Tower, CP, Delhi- 110001. Please, bring following document for enrollment. During enrolment, residents have to fill an enrolment form which will have basic details such as name, address etc. Evidence of Proof of Identity (PoI), Proof of Address (PoA) and Date of Birth (DoB) should be produced. If original documents are not available, copies attested by a notary/gazetted officer will be accepted. Additionally, biometric details which include scanning of 10 fingerprints and iris, and photograph will be taken. For children under 15, biometric details wont be taken; their UID will be linked to their parents after verification. The number will be store basic demographics and biometric information photograph, ten fingerprints and iris of each individual in a central database. Aadhaar will be Easily verifiable. Unique and robust enough to eliminate the large number of duplicate and fake identities in government and private databases. A random number generated, devoid of any classification based on caste, creed, religion and geography. It is a 12 digit number, not only a card It is for every individual, including infants. Means each individual of family will have separate Aadhaar UID number It enables identification and is for every resident. It doesnt establishes citizenship and is not only for Indians. Getting Aadhaar is voluntary, not mandatory It is for every resident, irrespective of existing documentation. Means individuals without identification documents can also get Aadhaar. The applicant on that day visits the camp with original documents of address proof, identity proof and proof of relationship (for children below 5 years) and proof of date of birth along with photocopies of the documents. En-roller (operator) enters resident data into system. Resident validates data entry. Face photograph of resident is captured. Iris scan is done. Fingerprint capturing of Left hand. Fingerprint capturing of Right hand. Thumb-print capture (both thumbs). En-roller (operator) signs with his own finger print. Resident receives printed acknowledgement. UID will reach at his/her doorstep within 60 - 90 days by speed post.
