Testimonials from some of our Sponsors, Exhibitors and Presenters from the National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference Series
I want to thank you for the excellent opportunity to present at the conferences. There was a lot of interest and good contacts were made. The meetings were very well attended. I look forward to our paths crossing again in the future. Deanne Hamilton, CEO First Nations Finance Authority NABOC Prince Rupert was a fabulously successful event for us. Thanks for all of your hard work in organizing it. We made some great new contacts. Craig Brown, Publisher Prosper Media Group

When we built our new 300 seat NKMIP Conference Centre we needed to start attracting some major events to our facility and generating income. Geoff Greenwell of the 2G Group worked with us on bringing the 2010 National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference to NKMIP and the event was a huge success. Geoff and his team really know how to connect Native and non-Native business people and their organizational and marketing skills are second to none. Were going to continue to work with Geoff and the 2G Group to develop more events at NKMIP in the future. Chief Clarence Louie, Osoyoos Indian Band

These are terrific conferences, very well organized, and lots of opportunity to build relationships and network, and of course learn which is always the most important thing. Thanks so much for the opportunity Moira Jenkins, Vice-President Commercial/Financial Services RBC Group

Background on the National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference (NABOC) Series

The 2G Group www.2ggroup.ca specializes in creating equitable business relationships between the Private Sector and Aboriginal communities. The 2G Group created and hosted the First Nations Business Opportunities Conference Series across Canada from 2003 and the series was renamed as the National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference (NABOC) Series in 2009. Due to the success of the NABOC events the 2G Group saw the need to expand the conference series to include both Southern and Northern BC NABOC conferences, as well as parallel Youth Leadership Conferences, a Tourism Conference and a specific Aboriginal Women in Business Conference. As the demand for these networking events is very high and to ensure access to as many First Nations as possible, venues were chosen in both the north and south of BC. Prince Rupert and Osoyoos, BC were chosen as the venues for 2011. Co-hosts for the 2011 NABOC Prince Rupert conference from April 12th 14th were Chiefs Harold Leighton and Garry Reece from the emerging economic powerhouses, Lax Kwa'alaams and Metlakatla First Nations. Both NABOC and Youth Leadership Conferences returned to the Osoyoos Indian Band's Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa from September 14th - 16th of 2011 with Chief Clarence Louie as the host once again.

Vision for the 2012 Events

There are many, many conferences and workshops in Canada aimed at the Aboriginal market. However they all tend to be specific, focusing on such sectors as energy, forestry, mining, human resources, social issues and legal type events. These events present some reasonable opportunities for sponsors who feel their products or services may be relevant to that industry sector but often the key decision makers from Aboriginal communities do not attend these types of events. Taking this into account our continued focus for 2012 is to create truly business focused networking events that do attract the key decision makers from both the private sector and Aboriginal communities and businesses. Recognizing that Canada has over 600 Aboriginal communities we also intend to continue to expand the conference series across Canada in future years to allow more communities to participate. The 2012 events will all be themed as part of an ongoing series of National Aboriginal Business Opportunities (NABOC) Conferences and will be marketed with a consistent theme and graphics feel. Each event will build on the last with many delegates potentially attending multiple events as they will all offer different opportunities. The 2011 NABOC events were extremely successful with over 600 delegates in attendance between the Prince Rupert and Osoyoos events and both conferences generated rave reviews from delegates.

2012 Event Structure and Speaker Lineup

Our proposed approach for 2012 will be to host two main NABOC events with simultaneous Youth Leadership events alongside them; as well as an Aboriginal Women in Business event and a Tourism specific conference. We will continue to focus on delivering high value to the

delegates who attend. All events will be planned as 3 day conferences with plenary sessions, workshops and banquet dinners on Day's 1 and 2; and charity golf tournaments, tours and oneon-one meetings on Day 3. Delegate fees for the 2012 NABOC events are set at $599.00 with an additional $85.00 for the banquet dinners and $100.00 to participate in the charity golf tournaments. The Youth Leadership events have been discounted to $299.00 to help ensure as many communities as possible can participate. 2012 venues have been carefully chosen for their quality and ability to offer appropriate spaces for plenary sessions and meetings. Speakers and workshop presenters will be of the highest quality and will all be well known experts in their respective fields/disciplines. The banquet dinner entertainment will be focused on providing a relaxing and humorous time for all. The charity golf tournaments will donate their proceeds to causes chosen by the host Chiefs.

Sponsorship and Partnerships

To compliment the conference series the 2G Group is developing an elaborate and comprehensive website portal at www.aboriginalmarketplace.com that will seek to continually connect Aboriginal organizations with private sector companies in a much more effective and interactive way. Sponsors, Exhibitors and Workshop presenters of the conference series will have the opportunity to be featured on the website in addition to participating in the actual conferences. The website will be up and running by November of 2011 and will feature job listings, RFP's, key community contacts, a business listing directory and perhaps most importantly an interactive area where participants will be able to connect with each other to find and discuss business opportunities.

Value Statement for Sponsors, Exhibitors and Workshop Presenters

The NABOC Series attracts private sector delegates from across Canada, the USA, Asia and Europe as well as Key Decision Makers from Aboriginal communities in both Canada and the USA. We expect to register over 290 delegates at each event with an approximate breakdown of 100 Aboriginal communities and 120 private sector companies represented per event. Quantity does not always equate to quality as everyone knows, so our focus continues to be attracting business leaders who have the authority and jurisdiction to negotiate and make decisions on behalf of the organizations they represent. Gathering over 290 bright minds together always presents targeted opportunities for those companies who wish to sponsor, exhibit and/or present workshops. As always with our events they sell out quickly and we work on a first-come-first-served basis.
