WILL HAPPEN IS 1/6. PROBABILITY
THAT NEITHER WILL HAPPEN IS 1/3.
WHAT MAY BE THE PROBABILITY
OF HAPPENING OF A?
P (a) * P (b) = 1/6 (we have to multiply, if
we want both the things to happen).
 P(1-A) * P (1-B) = 1/3.
 Let us take the value of A as ½, we get
½*1/3 = 1/6, we are also able to get ½
*2/3 =1/3.
 Answer P(A) may be either ½ or 1/3

Suppose I toss a coin 7 times, what
is the probability that I shall get 4 or
more consecutive heads?
 Let us assume that I get all 7 heads.
 The probability is (½)^7 = 1/128
 Let us assume that I get 6 consecutive
heads.
 We have (1/2)^6*1/2. but Tail may be in
the beginning or in the end. So I have 2
such possibilities, thus I have 2/128
probability.

 Let us take the case when I have 5 continuous heads.
The probability is as under : ½ *1/2 *1/2 *1/2 *1/2 (for
5 heads) *1/2 for tail. We have to also multiply
probability of contiguous tail with this .
 We get 1/64+1/64+1/128 as the answer.
 Let us take the case, when I have 4 consecutive
heads. I get 1/32+1/32+1/64+1/64 as answer.
 FINAL ANSWER:
 Now let us add all these (4,5,6,7 )probabilities.
 = 5/32 answer.

If the letters of the word
REGULATIONS are arranged
randomly, what is the probability
that there are exactly 4 letters
between R & E?
 P = permutation. When order is important,
we use Permutation (for example: where 12
and 21 is different)
 There are 11 letters in regulations, out of
which I have to select only 2 – R & E.
 Thus 11 P 2 ,= 11! / (11-2)! Or 11! / 9!
 I get 11*10 = 110 methods of putting R & E.
 I have to put R & E at a distance of 4 places.
