Lesson Objective(s) (Stated in observable and measurable terms) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the tools used by meteorologists by creating a review activity/flier using open office Students will be able to explain each tool using the correct terminology Assessment Plan (What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?) The students will be assessed on their ability to follow a rubric when it comes to creating their flier. Students will be provided with a rubric prior to the start of this project and they will be required to follow it. Materials: -computers (Computer Lab) -teachers example -previous lessons (for teacher) -open office software -jump drive (teacher) Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs: Allow a buddy to work with students with special needs provide assistance and feedback when necessary Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students have access to and are able to participate in the lesson): -Assistance for those students who may have fine motor issues and are unable to use a keyboard properly -Additional time for students who require it

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set: The teacher will begin by asking the students if they know of any tools weathermen use to help them give an accurate forecast (i.e. barometer, thermometer, satellite etc.). As a class they will briefly discuss these tools and their functions. The teacher will then show students the open office flier she created to help remember each of the tools. Once students have viewed the example flier, the teacher will explain to students that they will be creating their own open office flier to help them remember each of these specific tools.

Detailed Teaching Sequence: (Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted statements are preferred) The teacher will first begin by explaining the project in detail to the students. She will inform them that they are allowed to be as creative as they want to be while creating a flier or study tool to help them remember each of the tools used by meteorologists. The teacher will give a brief overview of how to use Open Office as well as go over the rubric students will be expected to follow when working on this project. Each step will be broken down for students so that is it easy to remember. Students will also be provided with a handout which reinforces the instructions. Students will have the chance to go onto Open Office and play around with the software to help them get a feel for it. The teacher will then go over the appropriate use of the computer once more before they begin their project. Once students are completely aware of what needs to be done, they are free to get started. Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities Students will have the opportunity to begin work on their independent Open office activity/flier. They will be required to write or draw up a rough draft of sorts to show what they plan to do in Open Office. Once this portion has been checked and OKed by the teacher, the student is able to start working on their project on the computer. The teacher will continuously walk around monitoring students progress and providing assistance when needed. Students are able to use any of the work they have done over the course of this unit to help them add information into this final project. Closure: With about five minutes left in class the teacher will stop students and tell them to save their work. It is at this time the teacher will address any questions regarding this project or the lesson/unit at hand. The teacher will do a brief review of todays lesson and will give a small introduction to the next lesson (tomorrow).
