SHORT STORY

On December 22nd, on one misty, gloomy, cold night there were two college roommates staying in their dorm during their university vacation. One of the girls was called Ella and the other one was called Emma. Both students had exceptionally high grades, and were successful in relationships, school, and social life. However during the vacation, all girls had left the campus and gone to their comforting peaceful homes, leaving the two roommates completely alone. On this day, the girls were trying to do some studying, but ended up just spending hours browsing the Internet on their laptops. Late that same horrifying night, Ella had felt hungry and told Emma softly, Emma, I am going down to the cafeteria to get some food, I am as hungry as a tiger with no prey! She assured Emma that she would be back in a few minutes and that there was absolutely nothing to worry about. She then took the keys to open the cafeteria door and she scurried down the hallway leaving Emma alone in her room. Emma patiently sat in her room, using her laptop and anticipating that Ella would return in a couple of minutes. After a while, she began to feel sleepy so she undressed herself and got into her soft comforting bed. As she was about to fall asleep she suddenly heard a gurgling moan, coming from the hallway. It was so frightening that Emma nearly swallowed her tongue. She froze, lying in her bed, her heart pounding with fear. The sound later stopped, but it was replaced by an un-usual dragging noise. Emmas heart was accelerating, and she was very terrified. She couldnt attempt to lock the door because Ella had taken the keys with her. All she could do was lie in bed with panic and fear, as the disturbing, horrifying noise drew nearer and nearer. She listened anxiously, shaking with terror, as the dragging sound kept coming closer and closer, stopping right outside her brown aged door. Cou-could something have happened to Ella? murmured Emma worried to herself, barely making out the words.

SHORT STORY

All of a sudden, something began scratching. Emma, frightened beyond belief, jumped out of the bed and into the closet. The spooked, shuddered girl couldnt even move a muscle. The horrifying, creepy, scratching sound seemed to go on and on. Eventually, as the noise had begun to fade and vanish, Emma managed to fall asleep, curled up in the rusty closet. The next morning, at about 7am the sun was shimmering joyfully with light. Emma had cautiously stepped out of the closet. The scratching sounds had stopped but she was still too frightened to open the door. Looking out of her window, she saw a mailman passing by, and leaped to shout for help, beseeching him to come up and find out what was going on. Emma heard the mailmans thudding footsteps entering through the college dorm and coming up the stairs, into the hallway. As soon as the mailman arrived in front of the rooms door he froze, staring with disbelief. Is everything okay? asked the girl loudly, gasping and beginning to worry, as if the world had come to an end. For a few seconds there was just silence. Not a breath could be heard. No, I mean yes umm yes everything is okay! shouted the mailman, squealing with a slightly shrieked expression on his face. Just stay in your room quietly, while I get the police. Wa-wha-whats wrong? queried Emma, nervously with a sick feeling inside her stomach. She could barely make up the words. Uhhumm...NOTHING! Just stay where you are and dont come out! replied the mailman, in a worried, but confident voice. Unfortunately, Emma was already turning the handle and opening the door. As the door swung open, Emma saw the Mailman standing there, his face pale and his eyes wide in fear. She then looked down nervously, and screamed with horror, uncontrollably at what she had seen.

SHORT STORY

Emma had felt as if she was in space, where no oxygen could reach to her. Her spine was shivering, and tears were flowing down her face like a waterfall. Her face was in a bloody, dead look. Her roommates unconscious, dead body was sprawled on the floor, lying in a pool of blood. There was a hatchet buried in her head and her fingernails were worn down to bloody stumps from scratching on the door, gasping for help. Her lesson to stay at a dorm completely alone at night was taught.

"On my honor as a NIST student, I have not received help to complete this assignment."
