the ilp scheduling is as follows..though its an overall rough idea abt the ilp s cheduling..

but more or less,we would be following the same scriptThe duration of ILP is 60 working days, which would span close to 3 months inclu ding the holidays(Sat & Sun). The first two days have only induction sessions, wh erein we will be introduced to various policies and processes in TCS. At the end of the second day, we will know about our Stream and batch, and the upcoming se ssions would be according to these details.. The 60-day ILP training is split into two equal phases. FIRST 30 days are called CORE SKILLS. In this phase, WE will be introduced to th e basic concepts based on the Project we will be doing. we will get a Case study at the end of this 30 days, which will be pursued in the next 30 days. Here, we will ONLY learn the concepts required for our Case study. And these session are not completely theoretical, we will have probably one theory session per day, a nd the rest would have some exercises based on that learning. The syllabus is sp lit into several sections, and we will have an Evaluation Test at the end of eac h section. Along with Technical, you have BUSINESS SKILLS(BizS) sessions as well. Here We l earn topics which will transform us into the corporate space. It includes commun ication, several etiquette's, do's and don't in the company etc. Next 30 days is called PROJECT DELIVERY. As the name mentioned, we will get a Ca se study to be done with deadlines, reports etc. In short these 30 days is a rea l life simulation of a project. we will have status reports(weekly), meetings, d eadlines, documentation, and all such things. BizS sessions would rarely come th rough. In this phase, you will be Analyzing, Designing, Documenting, Coding, Testing an d Maintaining different projects(done by different groups within your batch). In between, people would be randomly called up by senior officials to keep track of the learning(like an interview) //////////// There have been lots of speculations over the stream-allocation.."wt about strea m allocation" are the new buzzword very recently..hope i can clear ur doubts.. on the third day of your training, you will be facing a "PAT TEST".It is entirely based upon the aspire tutorials..the score of this test is of no concern as not hing depends upon it. after that, your grouping, batching and stream allocation will be done by them.."i t is done randomly, purely depending upon them." no score-ref-pref-expertise-skil l-choice-req are entertained by them.after allocation,no batch transfer-no time shift-group change-stream change are not permitted..so there is no point in cryi ng over that there are mainly four streams based on which tcs is currently dividing their tra inees.they are1. java-j2ee 2. unix-c++ 3. mainframe 4. dot net(.net) dont wry about the fact that u dont know anything about mainframe/.net/j2ee..it is not a prblm at all..the faculties are there 2 help you out if u dont know any thing about those ones(confirmed news) dont bother about ilp streams-it happens regularly that after training ,u r assi gned to different stream based project..suppose u hv compltd ur training on main

frame, after ilp ,u r assigned to a project based upon unix..so just follow wt u r told to..dont get panicky. there hv been buzzes like "mainframe opportunities are very less","java is very productive","unix is tough to manage" ,".net,c++ require rigorous labour","java, .net give much more opprtunity to go abroad"--i would just say that rumours are there to spread.dont sip into rumours.its utter rubbish.(confirmed news).rather sip INTO "KFC KRUSHERS" :P :P ///////////////// in page no 3 of jl.tech-u would find a term "surety verification"a surety is that person who will pay the compensation amount of 50k on behalf of you if u leave tcs within 2 years of joining..now it needs to be verified wheth er the nominated surety has the ability to pay 50k or not..i will post in detail s later on..for nowsurety can beA Surety can either be an individual who is an Income Tax payee/ possesses landed property. A surety can be any individual including parents & relatives who is known to the trainee. A retired employee filing an Income Tax Return & has a pan card can also stand as a surety. overall, anyone who has the ability to pay that amount on behalf of you is an acc eptable surety.. N.B::there are certain criterion to pay that amount..surety is one of them..we w ill discuss other options later. //////////////////////// in the 2nd page of jl.tech,u would find some terms like-"nominate for Gratuity, Superannuation, Provident Fund and Health Insurance Scheme"...dont get panicky o ver that..its no big deal..u need to do only the following things*for the purpose of gratuity,PF,HIS,superannuation, just u need to choose a singl e person..he/she can be anyone..but while choosing, just take care of the fact .. he/she must be trustworthy to u.. **u need 2 carry the details like-D.O.B of that person, address proof, pan card(if he/she has).. ***they will give you a form regarding that,u need to fill that putting his/her name.. ////////////// u all have heard about "tcs-BAncs",this is the most profitable product from the tcsl family..it yields arnd 35% of the total revenue..but there are other produc ts which are also making handsm money for tcsl..u dont knw which prdct is w8ng f or u to work on -the other products r 1. Exegenix- Intelligent Document Conversion Solutions 2.SupportCentral - Business Social Productivity Platform 3.TCS Digital Certification Services / Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Suite 4.TCS Tax Mantra Integrated Tax Solution

It will be deducted in the MAY payroll . The cashless facility needs to be availed off at the hospital where u will be ad mitted. Ur policy number is ur employee number and the swipe ID card that u will get is ur insurance card. Cover is provided as follows: Basic cover of Rs 45,000 is provided. Insurance premium for this is born by TCS

(Rs 1400 per year) After this is exhausted u will get an additional cover of 5 Lakh. This is called floater cover. Premium for this is deducted at 3200+tax .. from ur salary.. so in a nutshell,, 1.u need to pay Rs. 3530 per year (which will be deducted from ur salary in May payroll) This ensures higher hospitalization coverage, upto 5 Lakh for u, ur spo use and ur first 2 children. 2.For ur parents, u need to pay rs/- 6622 rs extra per parent. This will be dedu cted in 4 installments of Rs 1655 each starting from June payroll. 3.so for ur parents,u, ur spouse and ur first 2 children, u need to pay-2*6622 + 3530=rs/-16774 in a year.. the amounts above are inclusive of 10.36% service tax...so this is d final amoun t.. i suggest you to go for that..because it covers u upto rs 5 lakh expense.. //////////////////// Know Your TCS - Quiz Answers: Oct 4th - Oct 11th (for Group V) 1. Mobility is one of the major focus point among the Top Management. (you would fi nd it mentioned in every High Profile person's interview). Finally, if you are in Mobility, be ready for Loads of Fun along with Responsibi lity and Gruelling Hard Work !!! ---Excerpts from a Talk With A Senior, Who is Working As An Android Developer @ TCS , Pune ///////////// there are lots of people who hv limited ideas about ISU. ISU stands for INDUSTRY SOLUTION UNITS.. TCS has subdivided all its employees and working arenas mainly into 5 areas at t he very start..each section has its head.. Earlier, the company was split under groups like geography, industry verticals, services and delivery. Under the new structure, the five ISUs industry solutions group (ISG), major markets group (MMG), new growth market group (NMG), strategic initiative group (SIG) and organisation infrastructure group (OIG) - would be headed by a director, rep orting directly to the COO.

it is done wd the purpose to create a framework that is scalable for growth acro ss markets and provide focus on strategic initiatives like asset leveraged solut ions, platform-based BPO as well other new initiatives Each ISU has multiple groups under it, which can reach a size of 5,000 employees each. Each group head is responsible for revenue, profit, utilisation, etc for his group. ISG provides services to a group of customers belonging to a single industry lik e banking and financial services (headed by Sunil Chopra), insurance (Vijay Deep ti), telecommunications & media (Ravi Viswanathan) and government (Tanmoy Chakra barty). Creating a dedicated sales and marketing teams for key matured geographi es like the US (headed by Surya Kant), UK (A S Lakshimarayanan) and Europe (Giri sh Ramachandran), MMG would tap for new businesses and then hand them over to ISG. Identifying the unique business requirements of its customers in these geographies, TCS has cre ated NMG which would have geographies like emerging markets (headed by Gabriel R ozman), Asia Pacific (Girija Pande) and India (S. Venkatramani). SIG has independent business units in financial products (headed by NG Subramani am), small and medium business (V Ramaswamy) and platform BPO (Raj Agarwal). OIG, further split into four units, focuses on creating and enhancing process an d technological repository. this is how it started... but afterwards, there have been further splits of each and every group depending upon various issues..i am trying to give you an overall idea.. BFS->Its banking and financial services .. this is the most profitable ISU of TC S .. almost 35% revenue comes from this ISU .. only Bcoz of a single TCS product .. called TCS BaNCS. EIS->engineering industrial services..It has telecom, embedded system, mechanical and many other options.here technical(mech/electrical) projects for clients lik e General motors, cummins,NISSAN motors, tata motors are done.....it has many vert icals like aerospace , automotive, industrial machinery..Good for guys looking f or CAD/ CAM CAE projects TTH-Travel Transport and HOspitality.. It include all travelling agency and hotels HI-TECH->ds ISU has some good development work... With clients like Adobe,Microsoft...etc On-site opp is also bright.. ENT SOL-> ent sol consists of SAP/PeopleSoft/Oracle apps/Jd Edwards..its quite g ood TEG->Its a horizontal unit... Under that there is NTDG(Niche technology development group) and again under tha t there is IAM(Identity and access management). Its a kind of security domain...f or user management and access mgmt of users in an org. There is a lot of learning here in this domain NGM India-> Includes domestinc projects like vodafone, Bank of maharashtra, BSNL etc. SMB-> here small And medium businesses r taken cr of.. besides this there r ISUs like govt isu, healt care, lifescience, manufacturing, ind ian geography, thermal solutions etc etc..all total 23 ISUs r currently running..

ISU selection and recruitment procedurefirst all the trainees who have completed their ilps successfully r divided rand omly into groups..then each group is entitled to a certain isu depending upon th em..its completely ur luck..u cant ask for it or u dnt hv any choice..after isuallocation,,the RMG (resource and management group) will look after into the pro ject domains of every group..depending upon vacancy, fresh needs, project loads,pr oject urgency RMG will assign u to a project bt b4 that u and the project leader will hv an telephonic or face to face interview...both parties need to agree.. //////////////////////////////////////////////// Hi, This s Siva G from CHN01 Batch. In this post, i m sharing things which i observed from Chennai ILP Center (i m f rom CHN01 batch). We r released from ILP on Sep 16th 2011 (DOJ Jun 23rd 2011). I dono how much this post holds true for other ILP Centers around India. As every one knows, there are two phases in ilp. First phase, theoretical. U ll b taught completely abt ur Stream. U ll b having Case studies(Practical works), Viva Voce, Powerpoint presentation on stream topics, objective type assessment. Some business skill classes(Oral+Wr itten+Team work). Ur performance ll b observed thru out this phase. In biz skill, u ll have pre-test on oral and written. Oral - Given a random topic, u have to speak for 5 mins Written - Given a random topic, u have to write something. Dey ll evaulate these tests.. Rating ll be given. if u perform low, u ll b put i n remedial. Second phase on projects. Ur group(ie. M06) ll b spilted into group. each group ll have 6 associates (incl uding team lead). Different phases in Project. 1. Requirement Gathering 2. Test Case and Scenario Preparation 3. Construcion (Coding + Integration + Unit Testing) 4. Testing 5. Bug Fixes and Maintenance At the end of 2nd phase of ilp training, u ll have final evaluation. Final Evalution covers the following area, 1. Oral Skill, 2. Writing Skill, and 3. Technical Skill. 1. OS. U ll be asked to present a ppt on ur project (project means the one u r doing in 2nd phase). U ll be evaluated based on ur presentation. 2. WS. U ll be asked write a letter or a report or an essay regarding ur project/some random topic. 3. Technical

Technical evaluation has three phases depends on ur stream. We had Mainframe, Ja va, Dotnet Streams alone. For Mainframe, (I m from mainframe stream) u ll be having Objective type Test, Viva-voce, Group Presentation(Regarding Project). For Java & Dotnet, u ll be having an application development(Given a scenario, u have to develop a simple application), Viva-voce, Group Presentation(Regarding Project). Based on these evaluations and observations u ll b rated. Top rated associates from each group ll b awarded certificates + given some high ratings. Remedial Packages(extra casestudies, dey have to work extra hours) ll b given t o low performers. Remedial classes r der for Business skills (oral+written too. Last day, ll b given ur release letter in valedictory function. And ll b asked to meet RMG. I ll let u know d remaining things later :D Nothng serious abt ilp. u ll hav fun thru out 60 working days. U ll get new frnd s. u ll experience a different environment. At the end of the Final day of ilp, we had tears, which we never had in our coll ege life. We felt like missing somethng. Guys(For Chn02,03.........chn11 and so on) dont w aste ur time in computers. Try enjoy each and evry moment. Tats it frnd, if i miss somethng, i ll add it up. Take Care Friends.
