Aim: to practise for specific information Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to talk about what artificial intelligence is and express their opinion. Previous Knowledge: present tenses Scanning skimming

Aids: handout, video presentation, coursebook,

Class organization: whole class, individual work, pair work.

Expected end-product: write a paragraph about a film

Stage 1: warm up (5 min) The teacher presents the trailer of the movie to the students and discusses a bit about it. She gets students reactions about the trailer.

Stage 2: pre-reading (10 min) Step 1: She draws their attention on the pictures on page 47 in the coursebook. She asks questions like: 1. Have you seen the film? If yes tell us about it. If not try to predict what is this film about. 2. Do you know what does Artificial Intelligence mean? 3. Who originally wrote the film? 4. When is the film set? 5. Is it a good film for young children? Why? Why not?

Step 2: Students should work with their group to find the answers for questions 3-5 by scanning the text on page 48. If there is little motivation from the students the teacher asks them to answer the questions individually in their notebooks and then compare their notes with their group. In 4m the teacher takes the class and has some answers from the groups. Step 3: the teacher gives a handout and asks for exercise 1. She explains that they should match the words with their meaning. Individually first and then check them with their partner. Stage 3: while reading (15 min) Step 1: Students read the text individually and then do exercise 3 on page 48. Then they check their answers in pairs. Later the whole class gives the answers by justifying their answers.

Step 2: the teacher asks the students questions for a better understanding of the text. Why they have only a son? What happened to their son? Who is David? Is David a real child? Stage 4: speaking (10 min) Step 1: asks students to discuss in their groups the idea of Artificial Intelligence. What do you thing will happened in the future? Will more machines take the place of a human being? How will robots be developed? Do you think that artificial intelligence will be good for people?
