Information Regarding Athletic Department Study Tables and Related Topics:

Athletic Department Study Table Policy:
1. In­Season Athletes: Any student earning a grade below a “C­“ in any one class will be required to attend a MINIMUM 
OF TWO (2) Athletic Department Study Table help sessions per week.*** 
2. Out­of­Season Athletes: Coaches will monitor their athletes’ grades and let them know they are keeping an eye on 
their academic progress.  Coaches will strongly encourage attendance at the Athletic Department Study Table sessions.

(***Athletes who fail to attend two (2) Study Tables (or documented equivalent tutoring sessions) will be declared ineligible for 
competition until all study time has been completed.  Coaches will not ask for exceptions to this policy, as academic success is 
our first and foremost priority.)

Note:  A student­athlete’s absence from school does not excuse them from the required study time for that day/week.   For 

example: Susie normally goes to the study table every Monday and Wednesday.   Susie is ill and does not attend school on 
Monday.  She must find a way to make up the study time missed on that Monday she was absent.     

Athletic Department Study Table Information:
1. Coordinator and Teacher:  Carol Watkins—Phone: 852­2258, ext. 1350 (Classroom B215)
2. Location:  Room M112 (pool classroom)
3. Days:  Mondays and Wednesdays
4. Time:  3:00­3:30
5. Study Table will begin Monday, November 3. 

Study Table Alternative Options:
1.  Tutoring by the actual classroom teacher in which the student­athlete has received the “C­“ or lower grade.    Student­
athletes must have the classroom teacher sign a form verifying their attendance and the amount of time spent with them. 
This form will then be submitted to Carol Watkins for tracking and verification.
2.  National Honor Society tutoring sessions , verified by a supervising teacher.  Again, a verification form must be signed 
by the supervising teacher and submitted to Carol Watkins.
3.  Verification forms are available in the office of the assistant athletic director.
