Home School Association fundraising

MANY thanks to the members of our Home School Association for their hard work and efforts in raising valuable funds for the benefit of all pupils in the school. Money donated by the HSA has meant that we have been able to refurbish the boys toilets this half term. The toilets have been fully repainted, refitted, re-plumbed and upgraded to include new soap dispensers, new toilet roll dispensers and mirrors. Recent fundraising events at Open Evening and at the annual coffee morning held at the Guildhall in Cardigan have resulted in 750.00 being raised. This will be matched for by Barclays Bank, to whom we are very grateful. If you would like to join the Home School Association, or if you would like more information about it, please contact Mrs Angela Saunders at the school on 01239 612670.

Writing workshop with Cynan Jones

TWICE published author Cynan Jones visited to talk to pupils about the process of writing and to inspire young authors. Cynan has written The Long Dry and Everything I Found on the Beach and shared some insights about seeing a book before committing any words to paper. Pupils were provided with the opportunity to write and share their work with Cynan at the end of the session. It was an excellent morning with twenty-five pupils from Years 10 to 13 taking part. The next stage is for pupils to complete their narratives and for Cynan to return to school in the Spring Term. Once again, thank you to Dr. Richard Davies from Parthian Books and Library of Wales for his support in organising and funding this venture. We are looking forward to a visit from celebrated Welsh author Caryl Lewis in December, when she will work with pupils who are studying her award-winning novel, Martha, Jac a Sianco.
