Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), established in 1967 and located in Houston, Texas, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of motors, adjustable speed drives, motor controls, uninterruptible power systems, LED displays, and other power electronics products. The application engineering and technical marketing portion of the rotation allows trainees to work in a product department assisting with product development, marketing, and technical sales support. The trainees primary responsibilities include: reviewing customer specifications, providing quotations, advising customers on proper applications and industry guidelines, and assisting the sales force with sales orders. Trainees also develop competitive analyses and support the development of manuals and catalogs for various departments.
Our Manufacturing
Many of TICs products are designed, built, and tested in our 900,000 square foot state-of-theart manufacturing facility in Houston. We have developed a totally integrated manufacturing process from research and development, design, engineering, and manufacturing to aftermarket service and support. At the heart of this process is our unrelenting belief in quality and reliability. We build products to perform in the most difficult conditions. Design Engineering
The design engineering portion of the rotation allows engineers to learn the manufacturing environment through hands-on experience. Trainees generate and update drawings, handle bills of material, and interpret and design custom orders per customer specifications. Trainees also support the product departments by assisting with quotes, inquiries, value-added cost analyses, vendor contract negotiation, and other special projects.

The manufacturing engineering section focuses on designing and implementing new manufacturing processes and equipment. Trainees work to reduce manufacturing inefficiencies, improve safety, and update technology within the plants. Trainees also perform economic analyses, develop project management skills, and optimize work flow to improve on-time performance.

The quality control engineering section allows trainees to focus on product and process quality control. Trainees implement and monitor quality control programs/systems and process improvement projects. This includes managing projects, learning to spot quality control problems, and creating corrective action plans. Other job functions include: drawing interpretation, training activities, and reviewing specifications for custom projects.
