What makes these challenges important? Why are these challenges important to consider as a strategic partner? What are five challenges facing HRM? 1. Five challenges facing HRM are: Impact of Technology: this includes tools, machinery, equipment, work procedures, and employee knowledge and skills. Advances in technology and work processes, organizations are under increased competitive pressure to implement, if not develop on their own, more efficient means of operations. (Mello, J., 2006) Ethical behavior: every company has to develop a right code of ethical and professional standards to represent them. Employee behavior is a big concern for the HRM. Workforce demographics changes and diversity: Diversity has become and continues to be one of the principal buzzwords for both public and private organizations, as recognizing and promoting diversity is seen as critical for organizational success (Mello, J., 2006) Globalization: Creating value in a global economy requires HR executives to clearly understand the confluence of economic, social, and technological forces that drive industry competition (Wright & Snell, 2005, Summer) Team work: HRM has to lead employees to maintain a good working environment. Teamwork is essential to complete all tasks successfully. What makes these challenges important? What makes these challenges important is that each challenge counts for the success of the company. Human Resources Management needs to know how to handle these challenges properly so they are implemented effectively for high performance and success. Why are these challenges important to consider as a strategic partner? These challenges are important to consider as a strategic partner because they can support one another to achieve common objectives. Human resource management tries to direct all their challenges to goals that they want to accomplish. DQ2: In what ways did the strategic planning process change the way you view your HR role? How will this course benefit on-the-job skills and your thinking processes? The strategic planning process can be difficult or even challenge. I would have to change the way I think from a management role, administrative thinker to more of strategic thinking. Human resources professionals have many responsibilities. It is not just hiring and firing personnel, coordinating benefits and compensation it is much more responsibility than that. This course has helped my thinking process. My employees do not really understand how their jobs and responsibility contribute to the overall

effectiveness. I will provide guidance in developing and helping my employees understand the company strategy and steps to be taken toward fulfilling the company mission. Communication is key to the strategic objective and adding rewards will drive performance to increase. Human resources role helps a company benefit from development of people and skills, cost effective of labor, and leads planning of forces that may impact a companys success.
