New Quarter
With much gratitude to the Lord for his good hand upon our ministry, we started the new school term on January 10th. Although January is the month we always have the least number of students, we are excited that the Lord is giving us the opportunity to continue training key leaders around the world. A highlight for us is that the number of students taking the Spiritual Formation course continues growing. However, we are committed to not only offer courses on spiritual formation, but have at the core of our courses the development of Christian Character. 6 courses 43 students (11 taking 2 courses) 11 countries 14 nationalities 6 students from another school (Costa Rica and Spain)

Thank you very much...

As we look at the many opportunities we have to invest our lives in the lives of Christian leaders, we praise the Lord for the special gift he has given us in you. Your ministry to us, in many different ways, empowers us to continue serving him. Thank you very much.

Christmas in New York!

We praise the Lord for the special time we had with Hector, Michelle, and Liza for Christmas. Although we had a snow blizzard, our time was great worshipping the Lord and enjoying our family. Thank you very much to those who prayed for us.

A big word of thanks and an important prayer request

We want to express our deep gratitude to all of you who have prayed for our team member, Martha Hendrickson. The Lord answered your, and our, prayers, and last December 27th she was declared free of cancer. Praise the Lord. Now, we want you to continue praying for her. According to Mark, the most difficult part comes now: keeping Martha cancer free! Please, ask the Lord to use exercises, diet, and medical procedures to prevent any recurrence of this decease in Marthas body. Two weeks ago Mark & Martha visited us in Costa Rica. ask the experts >>>

Prayer requests
1. Please pray for our travel schedule in the next few weeks. Quique will be in WI, MN, and IL in February. From there he will fly to Florida, where we will be attending a missions related event, as well as meeting with pastors of Hispanic churches. We hope many leaders will enroll in our programs as a result of these activities. 2. The following day, after returning from Florida, Quique will travel to Panama to join a team that is designing a training program for Latin American missionaries going to fields around the world. 3. Pray also for our students, that they will have the strength from the Lord to finish well this term.

Becky with missions team in Sumpango, Guatemala

Los Olivos EFCs ministry continues growing in relevance and impact in Sumpango. Here is Becky working the triage with pastor Brian Berg, of Woodlands EFC. Every January, a medical team from Wisconsin, provides medical assistance to several communities in the area. This time they served over 1000 people. The last week of February, 4 elders from Los Olivos will visit several churches in the Forest Lakes District, reporting on the ministry these churches have been supporting, as well as presenting the vision to potential partners. Quique will be with them as part of the Consulting Team.

Q: A:

new course...
Quique and Dr. Gordon Pike are writing a new course on Research. We know that our students need to be equipped not only to study the Bible with accuracy, but they also need to be able to understand the world in which they are proclaiming it. This course, to be taught first time in September, will focus on qualitative research, with the goal of training leaders to better contextualize the gospel in their communities.

A virtual team
Success for any team is in many ways based on the quality of communication between its members. If this is difficult in face-to-face relationships, its even more challenging when people are scattered around the world. Weve faced that situation. Our professors, mentors, and administrators live and work in different countries. However, we praise the Lord that he has given us the right mix of expertise, experience, and skills. In fact, we pray, worship, work, and relate to one another, over the internet. Interestingly enough, our students witness that theyve been able to make friends for life as they pray for each other, interact among themselves every week, and share their life experiences and ministry. We certainly praise the Lord for giving us the opportunity to take training where leaders are, and for the kind of technology we need to communicate with our students.

Before going into full time ministry, Quique worked in Guatemala as an electrical engineer. One of his goals at that the was to make sure we had our own house, in which we could raise our family and live for the rest of our lives. Little did we know that the Lord had other plans for us, plans to call us into full time missionary service. in our 19 years as missionaries, weve seen our house only once, for a few minutes. A few days ago Becky went to see the house, and found that it needs significant repairs and renovation. As we realize that we need to be responsible with what the Lord has given us, we will start a process to fix the house and see if we can also use it for ministry. Please, pray for time, creativity, and resources for this project.
