Historia del Club Universitario de Deportes (ftbol)

El inicio de la historia del Club Universitario de Deportes se remonta al 7 de agosto de 1924,

cuando fue fundado por un grupo de jvenes estudiantes de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, con el nombre de Federacin Universitaria de Ftbol. El club fue afiliado a la Federacin Peruana de Ftbol en 1928, participando en el Campeonato de Seleccin y Competencia (Torneo de Primera Divisin). Actualmente se desempea en la Primera Divisin del Per, de la cual nunca ha descendido.2 La U est considerada como uno de los tres grandes del ftbol peruano.[a] Disputa sus encuentros de local en el Estadio Monumental, que posee una capacidad para 80.093 espectadores, siendo el estadio de ftbol de mayor capacidad en el Per y uno de los ms grandes de Sudamrica.3 4 Hasta la fecha es el equipo que ha obtenido ms campeonatos en el Per, con 25 ttulos nacionales.5 En 1972 fue subcampen de la Copa Libertadores de Amrica, siendo sta su mejor participacin en un torneo internacional.6 Una de las principales caractersticas de Universitario de Deportes es su carcter polideportivo. Adems de su seccin principal, la de ftbol, el club cuenta con equipos en otras disciplinas deportivas tales como: bsquet, voleibol, ftbol sala y ftbol femenino entre otros. Tambin cuenta con un filial del primer equipo de ftbol, denominado Club Deportivo U Amrica F. C. que participa en la Segunda Divisin del Per.7 Con 37 participaciones internacionales en torneos oficiales organizados por la Confederacin Sudamericana de Ftbol, Universitario es el conjunto peruano que ms copas continentales ha disputado,8 seguido por Sporting Cristal con 32 participaciones.9 Es el mejor equipo peruano en la Tabla Histrica de la Copa Libertadores de Amrica,10 y es considerado por la Federacin Internacional de Historia y Estadstica de Ftbol como el mejor equipo peruano del siglo XX.11 Adems una gran cantidad de futbolistas del club han sido seleccionados para representar al Per en algn evento internacional, particularmente en sus mayores logros, las ediciones de la Copa Amrica en 1939 y en 1975[b]

History of the University Club of sports (football) The beginning of the history of the University Sports Club dates back to August 7, 1924, [1] when it was founded by a group of young students from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, with the name of Federation of football. The club was affiliated with the Peruvian Football Federation in 1928, participating in the selection and competition (first division tournament) Championship. America participating in the second division of the Peru.[7] With 37 international participations in tournaments organized by CONMEBOL, University is the Peruvian set that had appeared in more continental cups, [8] followed by Sporting Cristal with 32 appearances.[9] Is the best Peruvian team in the historical table of the liberators Cup of America, [10] and is considered by the International Federation of football history & statistics of the best Peruvian team of the 20th century.[11] In addition a large number of footballers of the club have been selected to represent the Peru at an international event, particularly in its greatest achievements, editions of the Copa Amrica in 1939 and 1975.[b]
