ADVENT
Advent is the first season of the Church Year. It is a four week season of hope and expectation. It is a wonderful time of preparation for the great feast of Christmas. Advent is a time of reflecting on all that the coming of Jesus means to us and to the world. We are to live Advent. We are to reach out to others during this season and bring them hope. We are to share Gods love. The Worship Committee has planned some activities for the observance of Advent. All will take place during the Sunday service. November 27 - Tree Calendar Project. This craft project will help children understand that Advent is a time of waiting and expectation for Christmas. December 4 - St. Nicholas Handouts December 18 - O Antiphons The Eucharist will conclude with saying the O Antiphons that contain titles of Jesus. The O Antiphons have been part of Advent prayer for many years. They express the hope of the season in prayer. Here is a prayer for families to use during Advent:

Blessings Prayer
Loving God, We give you thanks for the blessings of this holy Advent season. You are the source of life, of hope, and all good things. We look forward to the coming of the light of Christ at Christmas. Help us to turn toward that light in our lives. We rejoice at the gift of your Son who taught us to love in your name. May we be people of peace and justice all the days of our lives. Your kingdom come and your will be done now and forever. Amen Submitted by Anna Ferguson Worship Committee
