In Creek Iconoclast literally means "image breaker". It has come to mean one who attacks
cherished beliefs, traditional institutions, etc. .

attacks cherished belieIs, traditional institutions, etc., as being based on error or superstition.
I Iound this deIinition on Joanne Panettieri`s website Kingdom Iconoclasts. As I meditated on
this term, I began to think oI how much images aIIect us. Jesus is the true image (icon) oI God.
False images abound today, and need to be torn down by present day iconoclasts.

People who engage in or support iconoclasm are called "iconoclasts": a term that has come to
be applied to any person who challenges established dogma or conventions.
1he greatest iconoclast in biblical history was King 1osiah of 1udah, who finally destroyed the
altar at Bethel which even 1ehu had spared and also instituted a campaign to destroy both
pagan and Yahwist shrines everywhere in his realm except within the 1emple of 1erusalem.
For his iconoclastic zeal, 1osiah would be hailed as the greatest king since David.

Deuteronomy 12:3
And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with Iire; and
ye shall hew down the graven images oI their gods, and destroy the names oI them out oI that
place.
%he most Iamous iconoclastic episode oI the Bible is the incident oI the Golden CalI, in which
Moses led the destruction oI the image (Exodus 32) which the Israelites had constructed while
Moses was on Mount Sinai 32:5)

Images must be destroyed because they are incorrect pictures of Cod. 1hey are
misrepresentations of the true Cod.
1hey are false concepts and lies that are taught as truth. False images are a sign of departing
from the true Cod.
1his includes traditional teachings that are contrary to scripture, and have essentially become
idols.
Revival always comes when images and idols are torn down. False teaching and concepts of
Cod must be confronted and torn down.
2 Kings 23:24
Moreover the workers with Iamiliar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and
all the abominations that were spied in the land oI Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away,
that he might perIorm the words oI the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the
priests Iound in the house oI the LORD.

Notice that images are connected to witchcraft 1osiah removed the images and wizards
from the Land There is a strong spirit of witchcraft connected to false teaching and
traditions contrary to the word of God This results in the minds of people being controlled
and manipulated

1earing down images was what godly kings and leaders did. 1his brought reformation and
change to society. Images must be destroyed, and burned with fire.
1he truth must be rediscovered as it was by Hilkiah in the days of 1osiah.
Images that have been erected by previous generations must be torn down in the present
generation.
