Interview Project

The first person I interviewed was a pre schooler named Allan(Raphael interview with Allan) and I ask him several questions pertaining to school, friends, family, job, and selves. I started with the first question which was what do you like about school? Allan replied I like to go to school and play with toys and color. I then went on to the next question which was what do you and friends like to do? Alan replied back we liked to color and ride bikes at school. The third question I asked Alan is what do you like about your family? And Allan replied that he loves his mommy and daddy and his brothers. The fourth question I asked is what you like to be when you grow up? And Allan replied he would like to be a power ranger. The Finally question I Asked Allan is what does he like about himself and he replied that he can jump real high. After interviewing Allan I made my analysis on him that he was at the socioemotional development stage. Pacifically at what Erikson labeled initiative verses guilt. (table 3.1, pg54). At this stage Alan seems to have been allowed by his family to be open and free to explore what he likes. There seems to have been no restraints put upon him by any of his caregivers, he had an open imagination of himself and what he liked to do. The second interview took place with a young elementary student name Luz(Raphael interview with Luz). I asked her all of the same questions as I did my first student. Her replies were almost similar but overall different from the first. When asked what she like about her school? Luz was more then willing to reply that she like her home economics class whee she was allowed to sew things. I then asked her about her friends and she replied that they like to play video games together. She then went on to talk about her family and answering the next question without me really having to ask it. She Replied that she loves her bis sister and her parents. I then asked her what type of job she sees herself and she said she wanted to be a veterinarian. And finally she answered the last question by saying she likes the color of her eyes the most but she also added that she is a nice person. After studying her very carefully she I would say is at the stage labeled industry versus Inferiority. I make this assumption based on her ease to answer the questions. She seemed to have a good feeling about her abilities and wanted to create things. This student had the start of a growing independence from her family while being increasingly influenced by her teacher and school. The third student was a 12 year old student in middle school named Wendy.(Raphael interview with Wendy) My third student that I interviewed acted like she 19 years old and had all the answers to take on the world. But as well all Know most 19 year olds ideas and views with greatly change as the older that they get, and when they look back at what they thought was right they will only laugh. Her social development was definitely at the stage of identity versus role confusion. She deems to label herself to what she thought society wanted her to be. Almost all of her answers were negative. There seemed to be problems at home where there was little or none parental supervision. Her moral development seemed to be at stage three labeled good boy-good girl. Her moral decisions seemed to be based on if they made herself and her friends happy. She seemed to never consider what was right or what is

wrong. Finally her emotional development seemed more to be what is called identity diffusion. Which is seems to fit her perfectly do to the fact I believe she may have an identity crisis and maybe has not found a way to resolve it. As a young lady going through puberty she gave the appearance that she is going through the emotions of what society expects of her. She wore bracelets that used vulgar language as well as refer to herself as a bitch numerous times throughout the interview. Last but not least was my high school student who was 16 years old and acted like they had the answer to life.(Raphael interview with Brian) I was amazed with this students answered for the fact that he acted like if they were trick questions. He spoke a lot about his father but very rarely mentioned his mother. I found myself saying that this interview needed to have more then 5 open ended questions. While reviewing his psychosocial development I once again felt that he was in the same stage as the previous student, which was identity versus role confusion. But Unlike the other student he had a better grip on himself and know what he liked and what he could do. He had smiles on his face when asked what would he like to be when he grow up. He was confident in his quick reply baseball player. I found that even though it did seem that there are some parental issues he was still guided in the right way by someone. Brian's reasoning definitely could be labeled at the level called preconventional. He seemed to go by the what ever his parents dictate the law is without any question of it. Lastly his emotional development was more of what his parents wanted him to be then what he actuals knows of himself. I say this because he seems to be living the dreams of his father when it comes to baseball. One day will come that he will realize that this was not for him and move onto other things which may cause some serious issues at home.
