Jain College of Engineering, Bangalore, India Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, India RESEARCH INTERESTS Intelligent tutoring systems, learning sciences, authoring tools, cognitive modeling, mathematics education, situated tutors, just-in-time training, user-interface design, natural language processing, ethnography RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Palo Alto, CA September 2011 - Present Research Assistant & Software Developer, Intelligent Systems Laboratory - Working on Digital Nurse, a software assistant for nurses that helps reduce their cognitive load. - Built work-practice models of nurses in a healthcare organization from ethnographic data. - Developed intelligent decision-support tools, software agents and designed user-interfaces. Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Palo Alto, CA May August 2011 Research Intern, Intelligent Systems Laboratory - Developed an analytics-engine for Brahms, an agent-based modeling and simulation environment. - Analytics-engine helped visualize what-is and what-if scenarios and improve the accuracy of existing models. - Designed a model-independent language and architecture that enabled non-programmers to generate analytics directly from a simulation. Virtual Reality Applications Center, Iowa State University, Ames, IA May 2010 - May 2011 Research Assistant - Designed and developed authoring tools for non-programmers in two complex domains, natural language processing and 3D game environments. - Conducted an empirical evaluation study of two authoring tool paradigms, text-based and GUI-based in two domains, statistics and geometry. Department of Chemistry, Iowa State University, Ames, IA January - June 2010 Research Assistant - Designed and developed interactive educational material and computer simulations of experiments.
