LITURGY
NEW YEARS EVE, 7.30pm EUCHARIST After receiving numerous positive (and no negative) comments, Father Chris has decided that services on New Years Day will be cancelled. There will be a Eucharist at 7.30pm on New Years Eve. It will mark the Feast of the Epiphany and serve as a Watch-Night service. The Watch-Night provides an opportunity to reflect on the year past and consider the year to come. NATIVITY PAGEANT - 24 December, 5.00pm The Childrens Nativity pageant will take place this year on Christmas Eve, 24 December at 5.00pm. The evening will include a traditional nativity pageant in the church lasting approximately thirty minutes, a craft activity in the Parish Centre and a bring-and-share finger food supper. We would like to include as many children as possible in the pageant - children, grandchildren, friends and neighbours. We simply ask the children appearing in the pageant come to a rehearsal on Sunday 18 December during the 10am Eucharist, and following until 1pm (snacks provided). Flyers are available for distribution. Please make the effort to invite families with school-aged children that you know.

FORMATION
LENTEN LEARNING 2012 - BEGINNING 26 FEBRUARY - Claim the Dates Next year there will be two options for Lenten Learning: 1. Lenten Reflection Groups - Towards the Light Six sessions of reflection and discussion based on the Sunday gospel readings. This is based on a resource similar to the 2011 Lenten Studies. You are invited to host a group in your home or at the Parish Centre. The resources are very user-friendly and come with a helpful CD. 2. Lenten Lectures - Why Did Jesus Have to Die? Five Theories of Atonement. Five talks with discussions led by The Reverend Chris Bedding, Sunday evenings commencing 26 February. Explore the theories titled: Ransom, Substitutionary Atonement, Christus Victor, Moral Influence and Scapegoating. MEDITATION Christian Meditation will not take place during the months of December and January. In the new year, weekly meditation will move to a new time slot of 8am each Saturday.

CONNECTEDNESS
CLAIM THE DATES - All In This Together Saturday 28 January at Midday Commencing with a shared lunch, All In This Together is a chance to plan and dream for 2012 and beyond. The day will continue with prayer, a presentation from the Rector about our mission, and time for conversation and feedback. Well finish with games on the Darlington Oval. JANUARY SABBATH From Christmas Day through to Friday 27 January, all parish events and meetings are cancelled, with the exception of Sunday Eucharists. This enables breathing space for leaders and volunteers, and will help us launch into the new year feeling refreshed. Father Chris will be working throughout this time as normal.

RESOURCES
ROSTER ADVICE FORM Church Council has discussed our approach to creating rosters for hospitality tasks each Sunday. In 2012 we will be starting from scratch with our rosters . Inside the door to the Parish Centre is a blue form. On it, you are asked to provide information about tasks you feel confident doing, those you would be willing to try, your availability and so on. Please complete it and put it in the blue box provided. AVAILABILITY FOR CHRISTMAS SERVICE ROSTERS In the meeting room there is a form indicating the positions that need to be filled for the two Christmas services. If you are willing and able to help, please put your name on the list. CALENDAR To find up-to-date information about parish activities, please visit www.hillsanglicans.com.au/ calendar . Important information will continue to be included in the Mustard Seed, but if you want to check information about times, locations and facilities, the online calendar is your first port of call.
