In this document the customizing of a simple warehouse in SAP R/3 will be demonstrated. In a separate document setup of the material master data and testing of the functionality will be shown. Lets assume we have a Distribution Centre which receives pallets and boxes of goods from different vendors and distributes pallets and boxes of goods to several customers. Further lets assume that the physical warehouse is made up of several rows of the following high racks :

The new warehouse will be setup in an SAP R/3 ECC 6.0 environment. Warehouse 001 will be used as reference to create the new warehouse named DE1. Use will be made of some of the storage types already defined for warehouse 001 in the standard system. Each rack will be divided as follows: 1) Fixed bins for box picking : Storage Type 005 Level 00(ground level) of each rack will be used for materials which are fast moving and are picked in boxes. 2) Pallet bins for full pallet picking : Storage Type 001 Level 03 and 04 of each rack will be used for materials which are packed in full pallets. 3) Bins for picking either Pallets or Boxes : Storage Type 002 Level 01 and 02 of each rack will be used for these materials, which have no fixed bins. To keep time for replenishment of fixed bins short, storage type 001 will be divided into sectors, each sector consisting of 2 rows. For storage types 002 and 005 one sector will be used, namely RND(random bins) and FXD(fixed bins). The 3 storage types and the Putaway strategy will be configured such that: A) Fixed bin are replenished first. B) All full pallets go first to storage type 001. C) All partial pallets go to storage type 002. The 3 storage types and the Picking strategy will be configured such that: A) All partial pallet picks come from storage type 005 first , than from 002. B) From storage type 001 only full pallets can be picked and from storage type 002 full and partial pallets can be picked. The remaining part of this document will show the relevant customizing settings to create and configure this new warehouse DE1.

4) Warehouse Management Customizing

I will go thru most customizing steps and just show the settings made. Some were copied from warehouse 001, some are changes and some are new. Steps which are considered not relevant in scope of the tests are skipped. Below is a screenshot from the IMG of the warehouse management module.
The folders which will be explored are: Master Data , Strategies, Activities and Interfaces.
