REGIONAL FIBER OPTIC NETWORK BRINGS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES TO LOCAL BUSINESSES

ERIE, PA, JUNE 30, 2010: Erie's own Velocity Network, Inc. on Wednesday (June 30) completed a multimillion-dollar asset purchase of nearly 100 miles of fiber optic networking throughout Erie and surrounding counties. Velocity is expanding the network so all area businesses, healthcare providers, educational institutions and municipalities can benefit from customized, affordable, and locally-supported fiber optic-based solutions.

The fiber assets, formerly owned by Houston, TX infrastructure contractor Quanta Services, have been actively managed and maintained by Velocity since May 2008. The acquisition will allow Velocity to more rapidly deploy fiber connectivity to our communities, expand into previously underserved locations and help organizations capitalize off of the latest in technological innovations.
