COMMANDERS CORNER
Our Home, Sweet Home Were probably one of the most blessed squadrons in all of the United States. Aside from the fact we have such wonderful people to hang with, we have an incredible home. For an aviation-oriented organization like ours to have their headquarters in an Air Museum is amazing. We have our headquarters and we also have the Museums permission to use the Buddy Rogers Theater (which we call the auditorium) and, if we ask, they will let us use the upstairs classroom which has ight simulators and we can use the tarmac, the parking lot, space out on the hangar oor. See what I mean? We really are blessed. Id like to suggest that we start giving back (more) to the Palm Springs Air Museum and, that we tighten up our security. Specically:
1. When the Museum requests a color guard from CAP Squadron 11 it would be absolutely wonderful if we always gave them that color guard. What can we do to ensure that that always happens? 2. Lets take a look at cleaning some airplanes. It would be a great organization/leadership exercise for cadets to lead teams of cadets and Sr/Spt Members in using some Pledge and rags to clean WWII airplanes (in a 1-hour period?). 3. Security. Lets start using the door-bell at our entrance into the Pacic Hanger. We need to develop a strong awareness that an unauthorized person might try to enter the Museum through our door on a Wednesday night. That could be a real disaster. Also, everyone needs to be aware that there have been instances of theft from vehicles in the parking lot during our meetings many years ago.
