Cadence OrCAD v10.5 SP1 Instalation Notes 1- Run MakeLic.bat to make a node locked license or MakeFloatLic.

bat for a floa ting one... I really suggest using the nodelocked, so you will not have to set services. Or you may just use the attached ones. It will create the required LICENSE.DAT file to enable ALL cadence products and will auto-open it on notepad. Save it to a place you will remember and n ever delete, like C:\LICENSES. Save LICENSE.DAT with 3 different names: LICENSE.DAT , ORCAD.DAT and INSTALLINFO.TXT If you already use the c:\flexlm folder save them there. You may also append to your current LICENSE.DAT, but remember (optional) to strip out the lines "server" and "daemon", you dont need them, just for s etup. 2- Now run the setup.exe from the Orcad CD. Skip step 1 going straight to "install software". 3- When asked about the INSTALLINFO.TXT, point to the folder C:\LICENSES Leave port_&_server info as they are for now, and Install the products you n eed/want. Try to avoid the "file asociation" and the installing of some "visor" during the process.. to dont modify your current settings of windows, anyways if you do that it is not wrong. 4- After installing (wich can take many minutes, so be patient), go to the fold er where you installed Orcad and open with notepad the COMPNTS.DAT file. Now, replace the line SERVER1=27001@yorservername by the full path to the sa ved license file, example: SERVER1=C:\LICENSES\ORCAD.DAT and save the file. 5- Go to : control_panel/system/advanced/enviroment_variables and modify the target file of LM_LICENSE_FILE to make it point to C:\LICENSES\LICENSE.DAT 6- Install SP1 wich will add better performance to your Orcad and will fix some problems with the register process (if that happened) and will give support to the Sch ematics addon wich can be installed (optional) as a last step. If you dont install SP1, the tools named CAPTURE, PSPICE_AD and LAYOUT wont app ear like 100% registered... I have noticed some problem with CAPTURE wich appear s as "unlicensed" if I dont install the SP1. After SP1, all the tools appeared regi stered with real serial numbers like 111111 ,172568 .. etc [In help/about] 7- Reboot Once everything is installed, run the tools to deal with your electronic design. Some tools start slow, so dont worry... CAPTURE needs like 1 minute to start in m y pc.

Cadence OrCAD v10.5 SP1 Notas De Instalacion. 1) Correr Makelic.bat, l me auto-genero un archivo de texto en NOTEPAD y lo salve como LICENSE.DAT el cual se debe tambien salvar como INSTALLINFO.TXT y como ORCAD.DAT Asi que qued con 3 archivos cuyo contenido es el mismo pero las extensiones son DAT DAT y TXT. Es conveniente mover esos 3 archivos a un folder donde uno no los borre por error.... algo asi como C:\LICENCIAS por ej. 2) Inicio la instalacin (setup.exe) y voy directo a "instalar software". 3) Cuando me pidieron la licencia, indique que INSTALLINFO.TXT estaba en el folder C:\LICENCIAS y orcad automaticamente hall tal archivo. Seleccion luego "instalar todo"... no asocie las extensiones a Orcad ni instal un tal "visor" (si uno quiere puede instalarlo tambien). 4) Luego modifique el archivo COMPNTS.DAT [el cual se ubica en el mismo folder donde uno instal Orcad] en su ultima linea reemplazando lo que decia "27001@yorservername" por : "C:\LICENCIAS\ORCAD.DAT" 5) Luego ajuste LM_LICENSE_FILE para que apuntara a C:\LICENCIAS\LICENSE.DAT [panel_control/sistema/opciones_avanzadas/variables_de_entorno] 6) Luego instale el SP1 y luego el Schematics (opcional)... creo que debe hacers e al contrario pero aun as me funcion OK... parece que el SP1 le da un buen soporte al Schematics porque sin l yo nunca pude hacer que funcionara el schematics en el pasado. Ademas el SP1 corrige algunos problema s del registro de las herramientas CAPTURE, LAYOUT y PSPICE-AD. 7) Reinicia tu PC. Asi me funciono OK, al menos las herramientas CAPTURE, PSPICE y LAYOUT me aparecieron registradas con seriales "logicos" lo cual no habia logrado con Orcad v10.5 sin SP1 (CAPTURE me apareca UNLICENSED).
