What should I do before Resizing/Moving my partition?

1. When running our product, please close all other applications including the antivirus software and the firewall. 2. Please check your disk as below first:

Please right click the partition which you want to resize in 'My Computer', and click 'Properties' > 'Tools' > 'Defragmentation' , and then click 'Defragment Now' Please right click the partition which you want to resize, and then click Properties > Tools > Error-checking > Check Now Choose both options, and click Start to continue. 3. The resize operation needs some free space, so we recommend you to remain 10% free space. If the free space is not enough, you can move some data to another space; and after the resize operation is completed, you can copy the data back. 4. If there are too many files on the partition needed to move, it will take a long time to do that, so we recommend you to firstly move your files to another space manually; and after the resize operation is completed, you can copy the data back then. It also can protect your data. 5. If possible, please backup all your important data. 6. Please do not do any change to the hidden partition before the primary partition (in some brand computers, especially for laptops) in case of operation failure.

How do I avoid data or partition loss during partitioning?

From the feedbacks of our customers, we get to know that some of them lost their partitions or data during the operations of EaseUS Partition Master. To avoid any more such issues happen again, do backup your partition or disk before any partition changes with Partition & Disk Copy built in EaseUS Partition Master. We strongly suggest you not to use EaseUS Partition Master under following conditions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. If there is any possibility of power failure at your home or office; Termination of EaseUS Partition Master during partitioning; Too many bad sectors on the hard disk; The system partition is not the first partition; If there are two systems in the computer and you want to repartition the system drives.

The above situations may cause failure of partition process, and that will lead to data or partition loss. Once you encountered partition or data loss during using EaseUS Partition Master, we suggest you use Partition Recovery Wizard function to recover the deleted or lost partition or EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free Edition to recover lost data.

Why the program prompts Lock Volume failed?

Common reasons: 1. Currently running operation system is in this partition. 2. Current partition is being opened by Windows Explore or My Computer. 3. There is some system tray program accessing the partition. 4. There are other programs accessing or residing in the partition. All in all, if only there is some program accessing the partition, it will prompt that error. Tips: Where tray program lies is in the area the time is showed on the right-underside of the desktop.

How to convert FAT partition to NTFS?

Why we need to convert FAT to NTFS? NTFS is an advanced file system that provides advanced features in performance, security, reliability and all these cannot be found in any version of FAT. Following are the advantages of NTFS compared with FAT:

NTFS supports file compression. FAT does not. Improved recoverability. Improved file and folder security. Improved performance on large volumes.

Improved efficiency in disk space utilization. Improved fault tolerance. support large file sizes. NTFS supports disk quotas, allowing you to control the amount of disk usage on a per user basis. The boot sector is backed up to a sector at the end of the volume. Fragmentation does not influence the system performance. Faster access speed. NTFS minimizes the number of disk accesses required to find a file. NTFS supports a native encryption system called Encrypting File System (EFS), using public-key security to prevent
unauthorized access to file contents.

NTFS is much more flexible than FAT. Its system areas are almost all files instead of the fixed structures used in
FAT.

The built-in Disk Management in Windows Vista/2008 can extend/shrink NTFS partition only. Windows Vista, Windows 2008 can only be installed in NTFS partition.
