to Independent after this year because of it. Note I still have not made up my mind who I will vote for
especially after reading all the platforms listed at www.procon.org & if anything have to admit there
is not one ticket listed that I can not in good conscience want to vote into office this year. The ONLY
thing I know for sure is that Palin must not be allowed any where near the Oval Office. For this
reason alone I expect that I will have to vote for the Democratic ticket one last time. I will personally
try to see that this info gets out to the best of my abilities but obviously this is something that
requires more that just one voice sounding the alarm letting America that Palin & the A.O.G. have
planned for our future whither we want it of not!!!!
Please feel free to verify & refer to the data I collected on Mrs. Palin in the attached files. There is no
way I want her to ever get any way close to getting into the White House, or for that matter any one
else with such extreme religious ideals that they feel they have to push them down Americana’s
throats & if that doesn’e work then (a) slit our throats (b) beat the evil spirits out, (c) burn people alive
for not being the religion of choice or (d) all the previous (a), (b) & (c).
The nuts seams to have forgotten why most people came to the USA in the first place, mainly to get
the hell away from religious persecutions which Palin & the pack of nuts that form the A.O.G & others
such as Roman Catholics & Greek Orthodoxy just to name a few after doing more research on
modern exorcisms some of these nuts are actually professing killing people because they say so with
out any means for the intended victims to protest or protect them selves. Hummmm, does Salem &
1600s along with Hitler & the Third Reich sound a bit familiar about now!!!
Needless to say other issues besides Mrs. Palin’s chosen Religious group’s intent to remove
separation of church & state in favor of her particular brand of religion of course are covered in the
attached files, see Texas Supreme Court Case NO. 05-0916 listed below. Items such as misuse of
government funds, hording earmarks for AK, & government corruption to name a few.
BTY, I bet that AK bridge to no where was probably miss named by some heathen/pagan/which who
doesn't know that the A.O.G [Ketchikan, AK - First Assembly of God found after further research] is
expecting all survivors from the lower 48 to flee to AK to be welcomed & converted to the A.O.G faith

possibly incited the attacks. Eight women and three men, aged between 80 and 96, were burned to

Now all Mrs. P. needs to do if she ever gets in to the White House as VP is to spend a few days
praying & fasting (George Otis’s PRAYER MAPPIN technique). Next all she has to do is to then listen
for voices from God to tell her that he wants her instead of McCain as President of the USA so that
she can use all the resources to do his will which just so happens to be exactly what the A.O.G
preaches, practices & believes. Now per the A.O.G church doctrine which has now been protected by
the Supreme Court of TX can adduct McCain & proceed to spend several days starving, beating,
stabbing with crosses, drowning & for good measure can throw in burning at the stake. Oh, my, what
a surprise guess who gets to step up to be the next President of the USA. Can be say good by to the
rights of individual American to seek * choose the religion of their choice & NOT live in a theocracy in
the 21st century.

Alaska... we had the very liberal candidates running for governor, and we began to pray for God to give us a
Christian ", declared Mary Glazier. At a three day religious conference held in Everett, Washington last
summer, on June 13, 2008, Glazier described how, nearly two decades ago, her movement helped propel
Alaska Independence Party candidate Walter J. Hickel, in an upset write-in campaign, into the Alaska
governor's office: Glazier's new prayer group member, a 24 year old woman named Sarah Palin, would later
follow. [note: audio, from Mary Glazier, starts approx. 45 seconds into video] Like Thomas MutheeMary
Glazier describes waging personal battles against witches and witchcraft and, also like Muthee, Mary Glazier
appears to have a special religious connection to Sarah Palin. Bishop Thomas Muthee, in an October 2005
ceremony at the Wasilla Assembly of God, anointed and blessed Sarah Palin as a political leader. On June
13, 2008 Mary Glazier told attendees at the "Opening the Gate of Heaven on Earth" conference, who
represented many of the New Apostolic Reformation's top leaders, that she had been present at the inception
of Sarah Palin's political career and that Palin was in her personal prayer group : "there was a twenty-four
year old woman that God began to speak to about entering into politics. She became a part of our prayer
group out in Wasilla. Years later, became the mayor of Wasilla. And last year was elected Governor of the
state of Alaska. Yes! Hallelujah! At her inauguration she dedicated the state to Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!" The good news spread through New Apostolic Reformation networks:
"Sarah Palin er bønnegriger og pinsevenn!" wrote Pastor Jan-Aage Torp excitedly in a September 6, 2008
post on his blog: "Palin is a Prayer Warrior and Pentecostal".

Palin and Dominionism - F. William Engdahl - Christian Fundamentalism Permeates the Republican
Party: Sarah Palin’s links to the Christian Right... religious background of Sarah Palin is not unrelated to
her bid to take the nation’s second highest office. She herself has been extremely vague about that
background. Given the details, it becomes clearer perhaps why. Sarah Palin has spent more than two and a
half decades of her life as a member of an Alaska church which is part of a fanatical Christian-named cult
project that is sweeping across America. Palin comes out of the most radical stream of US Born-Again
Evangelism known as ‘Joel’s Army,’ an offshoot of what is called Dominionism and sometimes also called the
Latter Rain cult or Manifest Sons of God. The movement deliberately attempts to remain below the radar
screen.
A Dominionist soldier in McCain’s Army Sarah Palin is a product of an extreme fringe of the American
Evangelical movement known variously as the Third Wave Movement, also known as the New Apostolic
Reformation, or as Joel’s Army, a part of what is called Dominionism. Until 2002 according to their own
website, Palin was a member of Wasilla Assembly of God with Senior Pastor Ed Kalnins. Online video clips of
Palin speaking from the pulpit of this church are revealing. Curiously, between the time this article was begun
on September 9th and the 11th, the video was removed without explanation:
(http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20712.htm.). As one researcher familiar with the history of
the Third Wave Movement or Dominionism describes, ‘The Third Wave is a revival of the theology of the
Latter Rain tent revivals of the 1950s and 1960s led by William Branham and others. It is based on the idea
that in the end times there will be an outpouring of supernatural powers on a group of Christians that will take
authority over the existing church and the world. The believing Christians of the world will be reorganized
under the Fivefold Ministry and the church restructured under the authority of Prophets and Apostles and
others anointed by God. The young generation will form ‘Joel’s Army’ to rise up and battle evil and retake the
earth for God.’4 The excesses of this movement were declared a heresy in 1949 by the General Council of
the Assemblies of God, and again condemned through Resolution 16 in 2000. Sarah H. Leslie, a former
Christian Right leader, describes the ideology of Dominionism: ‘The Gospel of Salvation is achieved by
setting up the ‘Kingdom of God’ as a literal and physical kingdom to be ‘advanced’ on Earth in the present
age. Some dominionists liken the New Testament Kingdom to the Old Testament Israel in ways that justify
taking up the sword, or other methods of punitive judgment, to war against enemies of their kingdom.
‘Dominionists teach that men can be coerced or compelled to enter the kingdom. They assign to the Church
duties and rights that belong Scripturally only to Jesus Christ. This includes the esoteric belief that believers
can ‘incarnate’ Christ and function as His body on Earth to establish His kingdom rule. An inordinate
emphasis is placed on man’s efforts; the doctrine of the sovereignty of God is diminished.’5 Leslie quotes
from Al Dager’s Vengeance Is Ours: The Church In Dominion: ‘Dominion theology is predicated upon three
basic beliefs: 1) Satan usurped man’s dominion over the earth through the temptation of Adam and Eve; 2)
The Church is God’s instrument to take dominion back from Satan; 3) Jesus cannot or will not return until the
Church has taken dominion by gaining control of the earth’s governmental and social institutions.’6 Sarah
Leslie pinpoints to the central deception behind the current spread of Dominionism among various Protestant
denominations across America today: ‘Dominion theology is a heresy. As such it is rarely presented as
openly as the definitions above may indicate. Outside of the Reconstructionist camp, evangelical
dominionism has wrapped itself in slick packages – one piece at a time – for mass-media consumption. This
has been a slow process, taking several decades. Few evangelicals would recognize the word ‘dominionism’
or know what it means. This is because other terminologies have been developed which soft-sell
dominionism, concealing the full scope of the agenda. Many evangelicals (and even their more conservative
counterparts, the fundamentalists) may adhere to tidbits of dominionism without recognizing the error…‘To
most effectively propagate their agenda, dominionist leaders first developed new ecclesiologies,
eschatologies and soteriologies for targeted audiences along the major denominational fault lines of
evangelical Christianity. Then the 1990s Promise Keepers men’s movement was used as a vehicle to ‘break
down the walls’, i.e., cross denominational barriers for the purpose of exporting dominionism to the wider
evangelical subculture. This strategy was so effective that it reached into the mainline Protestant
denominations. Dominionists have carefully selected leaders to be trained as ‘change agents’ for
‘transformation’ (dominion) in an erudite manner that belies the media stereotype of southern-talking, Bible-
thumping, fundamentalist half-wits.’7
Wasilla Assembly of God Sarah Palin comes out of the circles of such Dominionist networks. Sarah Palin
was reportedly re-baptized at age twelve at the Wasilla Assembly of God church. Palin attended the church
from the time she was ten until 2002, over twenty-eight years. Palin’s association with the Wasilla Assembly
of God has continued nearly up to the day she was picked by Senator John McCain as running mate.
Palin is now under investigation for possible improper use of state travel funds for a trip she made on June 8
to Wasilla. Her trip in turns out was to attend a Wasilla Assembly of God ‘Masters Commission’ graduation
ceremony, and a multi-church Wasilla event known as ‘One Lord Sunday.’ At the latter, Palin and Alaska LT
Governor Scott Parnell were publicly blessed, onstage before an estimated crowd of 6,000, through the
“laying on of hands” by Wasilla Assembly of God’s Head Pastor Ed Kalnins, her former pastor.
The pastor, Ed Kalnins, and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a
‘prophetic conference’ at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement.
The head of prophecy at Morningstar, Steve Thompson, is currently scheduled to do a prophecy seminar at
the Wasilla Assembly of God. Other major leaders in the movement have also traveled to Wasilla to visit and
speak at the church. In his sermons, Kalnins promotes such exotic theological concepts as the possession of
geographic territories by demonic spirits and the inter-generational transmission of family ‘curses.’ Palin has
also been ‘anointed,’ by an African cleric, Bishop Thomas Muthee, prominent in the Joel’s Army movement,
who has repeatedly visited the Wasilla Assembly of God and claims to have effected positive, dramatic social
change in a Kenyan town by driving out a ’spirit of witchcraft.’ 8 As Governor in Juneau, six hundred miles
from Wasilla, Palin attends the Juneau Christian Church of Pastor Mike Rose, an Assembly of God Third
Wave church. Sarah Leslie describes the movement which has supported Sarah Palin for most of her life:
‘New Apostolic Reformation. This dominionist sect is a direct offshoot of the Latter Rain cult (also known as
Joel’s Army or Manifest Sons of God). Chief architect of this movement for the past two decades is C. Peter
Wagner, President of Global Harvest Ministries and Chancellor of the Wagner Leadership Institute. His
spiritual warfare teachings have been widely disseminated through mission networks such as AD 2000,
which was closely associated with the Lausanne Movement. A prominent individual connected to this sect is
Ted Haggard, current head of the National Association of Evangelicals.’9 C. Peter Wagner is quoted by Leslie
defining his view of what he calls ‘The New Apostolic Reformation,’: ‘Since 2001, the body of Christ has been
in the Second Apostolic Age. The apostolic/prophetic government of the church is now in place. . . . We
began to build our base by locating and identifying with the intercessory prayer movements. This time,
however, we feel that God wants us to start governmentally, connecting with the apostles of the region. God
has already raised up for us a key apostle in one of the strategic nations of the Middle East and other
apostles are already coming on board. Once we have the apostles in place, we will then bring the
intercessors and the prophets into the inner circle, and we will end up with the spiritual core we need to move
ahead for retaking the dominion that is rightfully ours.’– C. Peter Wagner Wagner, who took over Haggard’s
Colorado Springs center when the latter was forced to resign in disgrace, claims that there are as many New
Apostolic Reformation churches in the US as Southern Baptist churches. The movement worldwide is
estimated as high as 100 million people. And yet its impact is completely under the radar of most
researchers outside of those in the movement itself.
An ‘end-time soldier in God’s army’? All evidence suggests Palin was carefully selected by the leadership
of the Bush-Cheney-McCain Republican party to galvanize the Party’s activist Evangelical base, something
McCain had been unable to do. Some theological and political background to the Joel’s Army or Third Wave
movement as it is also known, is instructive. It teaches a radical fundamentalist creed that its adherents must
actively engage in politics, to become what they term, ’soldiers in God’s Army.’ The Joel’s Army movement
focuses on recruiting young people to sessions of writhing on the floor in uncontrollable ecstasy, calling it a
sign of the ‘Holy Spirit.’ Children as young as five speak of having ‘gotten saved.’ The movement is extremely
authoritarian according to those conservative Christian churches who have studied and openly oppose the
sect as heretical. It teaches a dogma that echoes the infamous Manichean line of George Bush following the
shock of September 11, 2001: ‘There are two kinds of people in the World: Those who love Jesus, and those
who don’t.’ Until recently a ‘general’ in Joel’s Army was a 32-year old Canadian, Todd Bentley. In one case,
on YouTube, clips of his most dramatic healings have been condensed into a three-minute highlight reel.
Bentley describes God ordering him to kick an elderly lady in the face. A report published by the Southern
Poverty Law Center, a watchdog group, describes the Joel’s Army mass recruiting techniques of Bentley:
‘Todd Bentley has a long night ahead of him, resurrecting the dead, healing the blind, and exploding
cancerous tumors. Since April 3, the 32-year-old, heavily tattooed, body-pierced, shaved-head Canadian
preacher has been leading a continuous “supernatural healing revival” in central Florida. To contain the
10,000-plus crowds flocking from around the globe, Bentley has rented baseball stadiums, arenas and airport
hangars at a cost of up to $15,000 a day. Many in attendance are church pastors themselves who believe
Bentley to be a prophet and don’t bat an eye when he tells them he’s seen King David and spoken with the
Apostle Paul in heaven…Tattooed across his sternum are military dog tags that read “Joel’s Army.” They’re
evidence of Bentley’s generalship in a rapidly growing apocalyptic movement that’s gone largely unnoticed by
watchdogs of the theocratic right. According to Bentley and a handful of other “hyper-charismatic” preachers
advancing the same agenda, Joel’s Army is prophesied to become an Armageddon-ready military force of
young people with a divine mandate to physically impose Christian “dominion” on non-believers.’ 10
Their name comes from their special focus on the Old Testament Book of Joel, Chapter Two. On his website,
Bentley declares, ‘An end-time army has one common purpose — to aggressively take ground for the
kingdom of God under the authority of Jesus Christ, the Dread Champion…The trumpet is sounding, calling
on-fire, revolutionary believers to enlist in Joel’s Army. … Many are now ready to be mobilized to establish
and advance God’s kingdom on earth.’ This past March, at a ‘Passion for Jesus’ conference in Kansas City
sponsored by the International House of Prayer, or IHOP, a ministry for teenagers from the heavy metal, punk
and goth scenes, one Joel’s Army pastor, Lou Engle, called on his audience for vengeance:
‘I believe we’re headed to an Elijah/Jezebel showdown on the Earth, not just in America but all over the
globe, and the main warriors will be the prophets of Baal versus the prophets of God, and there will be no
middle ground,” said Engle. He was referring to the Baal of the Old Testament, a pagan idol whose followers
were slaughtered under orders from the prophet Elijah. ‘There’s an Elijah generation that’s going to be the
forerunners for the coming of Jesus, a generation marked not by their niceness but by the intensity of their
passion,” Engle continued. ‘The kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. Such
force demands an equal response, and Jesus is going to make war on everything that hinders love, with his
eyes blazing fire.’ Joel’s Army believers are hard-core Christian ‘dominionists,’ meaning they believe that
America, along with the rest of the world, should be governed by conservative Christians and a conservative
Christian interpretation of biblical law. There is no room in their doctrine for democracy or pluralism. To
paraphrase George W. Bush, ‘You’re either with us or you are against us.’ Joel’s Army followers are most
often labile teenagers and young adults. They are taught to believe they’re members of the final generation to
come of age before the end of the world. Sarah Palin was twelve when she first came into these circles.
Palin recently told interviewer Charles Gibson of ABC News that Georgia should be granted membership of
NATO. When pressed on whether this would mean that the US would be obliged to defend Georgia if Russian
troops went into the country again, she replied, ‘Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a
NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you’re going to be expected to be called upon and help…We
have got to show the support, in this case, for Georgia.’ Is this Sarah Palin a stateswoman with foreign policy
experience, or is it Sarah Palin the Dominionist who sees a potential war with Russia as part of an
‘Elijah/Jezebel showdown on the Earth’? This is the background of the woman who might well become Vice
President to a 72-year old President John McCain, a man reported to have severe skin cancer and other
major health problems. According to the US Constitutional succession, should McCain be incapacitated or die
in office, she would become President. Read the entire article Here F. William Engdahl is author of A

as she comes out of the very fundamentalist evangelical circles that the CNP uses to mobilize and shape
America’s political agenda. Palin reportedly drew early attention from state GOP leadership when, during her
first mayoral campaign, she ran on an anti-abortion platform. Normally, political parties do not get involved in
Alaskan municipal elections because they are nonpartisan. But once word of her evangelical views made its
way to Juneau, the state capitol, state Republicans put money behind her campaign. According to researcher,
Charley James, "Once in office, Palin set out to build a machine that chewed up anyone who got in her way.
The good, Godly Christian turns out to be anything but." The religious background of Sarah Palin is not
unrelated to her bid to take the nation’s second highest office. She herself has been extremely vague about

McCain-Palin campaign, has said Palin attends different churches and does not consider herself
Pentecostal.
On a visit to the church in June 2008, Palin spoke fondly of the Kenyan pastor and told a group of
young missionaries that Muthee's prayers had helped her to become governor.
"Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he's so
bold," she said. "And he was praying 'Lord make a way, Lord make a way' ... He said, 'Lord make a
way and let her do this next step.' And that's exactly what happened."
Muthee returned to the Wasilla church last weekend, where he gave a series of sermons over three days.
Palin was campaigning in Florida. The Rev. Zipporah Ndiritu, who studied under Muthee in the Kiambu,
Kenya-based Word of Faith Church, said the bishop is revered among evangelicals there. In a phone
interview from Mombasa, Kenya, she said church doctrine focuses on ridding the world of demons _ and
witches. "Even in the days of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible there were witches who were manifesting
through demonic forces," she said. "You can seek from the Lord, and if you find demonic forces you cast
them out." Ndiritu said she did not know Palin.

- New Information September 23rd, 2008 · 1 Comment Ed Kalnins said last Saturday,
A week ago, we wrote about the relationship between Thomas Muthee and the Wasilla Assembly of God
church, a church that Sarah Palin joined at the age of 12, and still visit several times a year even though she
lives far away from Wasilla, in Juneau. Thomas Muthee, it was revealed, held a special ceremony to obtain
the intervention of Heaven to make Sarah Palin Governor of Alaska, and now, according to breaking news
from Irregular Times, that ceremony included the attempt to protect Sarah Palin from witchcraft used by
enemies in Alaska. They have actual video footage of this ceremony, a video made in 2005, but made
available just today! Sarah Palin stood there and eagerly accepted this protection from witchcraft from her
campaign. Apparently, Palin really believed that witches might be trying to use magic spells to attack her
campaign for Governor. That explains why the McCain campaign is trying to keep Sarah Palin away from
reporters. They didn’t want this Alaska witchcraft story leaking out.
There’s a lot more to this story, including possible violations of IRS law as Sarah Palin’s church participated in
partisan political campaigning while claiming tax exempt status, and what sounds like a plan to “infiltrate” the
American government with a religious campaign to establish a theocracy. Here’s just one more point on this
story for now. Yet another newly released video, of a sermon of Thomas Muthee preaching at Sarah Palin’s
church this very weekend, shows Palin’s pastor, Ed Kalnins, explaining that the Wasilla Assembly of
God church sought out Thomas Muthee because of his history of persecuting women accused of
witchcraft. See below, and then a short explanation:
“Bishop Muthee is no stranger to us. He is a friend. He preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, and so I
want people to know that this is not some sect in a far away country. We are joined together with a
worldwide church who calls upon the name of Jesus Christ as savior and lord… This is not this little
thing here. We are connected to many like-minded believers, and so I’m really thankful to Jesus that God is
somehow going to be glorified and his will is going to be done in our land and in your lives. And, so, Bishop
Muthee, I got my first chance to know of him through a ministry, that he had a prayer ministry out in Kiambu.
Kiambu, Kenya was really inundated with a lot of crime and a lot of deceit, and it began to burden his heart,
so he began to pray and he began to pray to call out to God, because that which is out of order, God desires
to put into order. Amen. He prayed, and there was a breakthrough.” This requires some background
knowledge of the Thomas Muthee scandal. The “deceit” in Kiambu that Ed Kalnins refers to was witchcraft
that Thomas Muthee accused a woman named Mama Jane of conducting. Thomas Muthee actually claimed
that Mama Jane was causing automobile accidents through the power of her magical spells. The “prayer
ministry” that Ed Kalnins refers to was a campaign against Mama Jane, which included so-called spiritual
warfare, but also mobs that surrounded Mama Jane’s place of work, threatening her with stoning to
death. Thomas Muthee threatened Mama Jane, saying that she had to agree to convert and join his
church, or else. At the instigation of Muthee, police broke in to Mama Jane’s clinic, fired their guns,
and hauled her off to jail. Mama Jane then fled Kiambu in fear of her life. Ed Kalnins knew this, because
he had seen the Transformations video, which refers to the campaign of persecution against Mama Jane. Ed
Kalnins was so enthusiastic about this real witch hunt that he flew to Kenya himself, and went to Kiambu to
see where the with hunt had actually taken place. Kalnins shared the Transformations video with church
members, which included Sarah Palin, who shortly afterwards submitted herself to the ceremony to grant her
the supernatural protection from witchcraft, so that she could become Governor of Alaska.

Europe, East India Tea Company personnel tried to introduce the Indian concept of suttee, failed, then
burned widows for witchcraft to get their land. In Salem, (and I am a descendant of one of the Salem Witch
families), young girls rebelled against arranged marriages to land-hungry older men. Many European Satanist
families moved to the New World from pure fear of being found out and executed. These families joined
churches for cover and their descendants still do. They would throw a moonbat to the Kenyans in a heartbeat
if they could cover their posteriors. Look at three things here: the foreclosure rate, the expiration of sanctions
against domestic drilling, and the rich man’s love for land grabs. Now look at the likelihood of rural witch
hunts against owners of land with mineral rights intact, in Alaska’s oil fields or near pipelines, in oil-rich rural
Alabama, and in the oil-shale areas of Eastern Tennessee and Kentucky. Ladies and gentlemen, Sarah Palin
is setting some working class folks up for some very bad times.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Muthee Thomas Muthee - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: Bishop Thomas Muthee is a Kenyan preacher. He holds a Master's degree in Practical Ministry
and founded the Word of Faith Church in February 1989 in the town of Kiambu, Kenya (near Nairobi) before
going on to found approximately 400 churches in the nearby regions of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan,
and Gisenyi in Rwanda.[1] The original church is also known as the "Prayer Cave" because meetings were
originally held in a grocery basement.[2] Muthee's late wife, Margaret Muthee, was a teacher,[3][4] and they had
two children: Joshua and Ann.[1] Mama Jane - Muthee and his wife returned home to Kenya from Scotland,
where he had finished his graduate studies, in 1988.[3][4] They soon felt that they were "called by God to
Kiambu" and after six months of prayer, research, and "spiritual mapping," they came to believe that a
woman, Jane W. Njenga, was a witch, and thereby caused traffic fatalities, traffic accidents, crime, and
spiritual oppression in the area. [2][3][4][5][6][7] Jane W. Njenga, also known as “Mama Jane”, is pastor of the
African Mission of Holy Ghost Church and an herbalist.[7] Muthee alleged that "top government and business
leaders [were] afraid to do anything without her approval," that at least one person per month would die in a
car accident in front of her "divination house" (otherwise known as Emmanuel Clinic), and that she harassed
his congregation.[3][4][8] Muthee made a public demand that either Njenga convert to Christianity or leave town,
declaring, “Mama Jane either gets saved and serve the Lord, or she leaves town! There is no longer room in
Kiambu for both of us!"[3] Soon after his followers began to pray that God would either save or oust
Njenga,[3][4][8][9] three young people died in another apparent accident in front of Emmanuel Clinic, according to
Muthee's account.[3][4][8] According to Njenga, "When Muthee came, he took a loudspeaker into the street and
he told people to pray for seven days that I would die"."[10] Angry townsfolk wanted to stone Njenge in
retaliation for the traffic accidents. According to Muthee associate, Rev. Peter Wagner, when the police
entered Njenga's home to intervene, they were startled by what they believed to be a demon and shot her pet
python to death.[3][4][6][8][9] Njenga was then questioned by police, after which she left town.[3][4][9] Since then,
Muthee has frequently referred to this event as an example of successful “mapping”, which includes locating
specific witches by research and prayer, and spiritual warfare, claiming crime and traffic accidents were
reduced as a result of chasing Njenga out of town.[2][3][6][9] The event was depicted in a two part video by
George Otis, Jr.,[11][12] in which Muthee claimed that the crime and traffic accident rate in Kiambu dropped
drastically after Njenga left, and that he is responsible for much positive social change in the town.[2][3][5][8][13][14]
Njenga is still living in the town and states that she has not left her compound and never had a “pet python”.
[15]
Jane Karande, a 46-year-old community health worker who distributes HIV-AIDS medicines and sets up
centers for orphans and at-risk children in the town, attributes the reduction in traffic accidents to paving the
main road through town and installing speed bumps, rather than to Bishop Muthee's arrival in town. Karande
is critical of Muthee and other local pastors who she claims are enriching themselves and not assisting in
AIDS work and work with orphans, , "We don't have any support from churches, except maybe the Catholics."
[16]
Workgroup "Back to the Bible," headed by Pastor Rien van de Kraats of Kamperland, Netherlands, found
no police reports or any other sources that backed up Muthee’s claims.[14]
Guest sermons - The content of sermons and prayers led by Muthee at the Kingsgate Community Church
and the Wasilla Assembly of God have been the subject of internationally reported news stories. In 2004,
Muthee delivered two sermons as guest pastor at the Kingsgate Community Church in the United Kingdom,
covered in the international media. Muthee told of spiritual warfare and faith healing to the Kingsgate church
members, saying that he had miraculously healed his baby daughter, born without joints in her legs, through
prayer and by spiritually grappling with the devil. Muthee also discussed his interpretation of spritual warfare,
saying, “The more violent you become, the more committed you become, the quicker you will see
things happen in this region.”[17][18][19]
Wasilla Assembly of God - After being loaned the video of Muthee by Wasilla Assembly of God, Sarah Palin
wrote to the church, "what a blessing that the Lord has already put into place the Christian leaders, even
though I know it's all through the grace of God", thanked Kalnins for the loan of the video, and returned to the
church where Muthee and Kalnins laid hands on Palin, and Muthee prayed that she be protected "from every
form of witchcraft", as well as for assistance from God in her run to become governor of Alaskan.[7][20][21][22][23]
Muthee prayed that God may intervene in Alaskan state elections on behalf of Sarah Palin and that
witchcraft exists, as exemplified in his widely quoted 2005 prayer over Palin before the Wasilla
Assembly of God, "bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus... Use her to
turn this nation the other way around and to keep her safe from every form of witchcraft."[24] Following
Palin's subsequent 2006 victory in the governors race, this Muthee led prayer at the church was described as
having “prophetic power” by church pastor, Ed Kalnins.[9] In a June 2008 speech to the Wasilla church,
Governor Palin referred to this specific prayer led by Muthee, described Muthee as “really bold,” and his way
of speaking and prayer as “very, very powerful.”[9] Muthee returned to the Wasilla church for the weekend of
September 20-22, 2008.[25][26] The Boston Herald described this as "all smoke and no fire" [27] pointing out that
"The video of a Kenyan bishop asking Jesus to protect Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin from “witchcraft” has turned
into a political witch hunt, says one Harvard expert who found “nothing unusual” about the blessing." In
September 2008, Muthee returned to the Wasilla Assembly of God, not attended by Palin, and journalist Max
Blumenthal videotaped part of Muthee’s sermon, reporting that Muthee urged the church to crush “the python
spirit” of the unbeliever enemies by stomping on their necks, and as church members were in deep prayer,
speaking in tongues and raising their hands, Muthee exclaimed, “We come against the spirit of witchcraft! We
come against the python spirits!” Then, a local pastor took the microphone from Muthee and added, “We
stomp on the heads of the enemy!” [28][29][3 Humanitarian work - Muthee was a speaker at the first Exchange
Africa-Australia Summit, held in Nairobi, Kenya from April 28 - May 1, 2008,[31] at which "pastors, leaders,
missionaries and business people joined together to strategically plan for significant impact on the nations of
Africa."[32] Muthee is also currently involved with Restoration Alliance in providing potable water to Kenya.[33]

Office is Coming Back to Wasilla! Mudflats ^ | 09/19/08 | Mudflats - Yes, you read that right. It really has
gotten that absurd. I just had coffee with fellow blogger and Anchorage talk radio phenom Shannyn Moore.
While we were fuming over the McCain hijacking of the Troopergate investigation, she got a call from
MSNBC. They asked if she’d come on Keith Olbermann’s show tonight to talk about ‘the witch hunter’. The
witch hunter, aka Pastor Muthee, was the guest pastor from Kenya that appeared at Palin’s church, The
Wasilla Assembly of God, and “prayed over” Sarah to help her become governor. Muthee began his life in
ministry in Africa by hunting down a local woman named Mama Jane after proclaiming her a witch. According
to the Christian Science Monitor, six months of fervent prayer and research identified the source of the
witchcraft as a local woman called Mama Jane, who ran a “divination” centre called the Emmanuel Clinic. Her
alleged involvement in fortune-telling and the fact that she lived near the site of a number of fatal car
accidents led Pastor Muthee to publicly declare her a witch responsible for the town’s ills, and order her to
offer up her soul for salvation or leave Kiambu. After Pastor Muthee declared Mama Jane a witch, the
townspeople became suspicious and began to turn on her, demanding that she be stoned. Public outrage
eventually led the police to raid her home, where they fired gunshots, killing a pet python which they believed
to be a demon. After the witch hunting incident, Muthee founded the World Faith Church, also known as the
“Prayer Cave.” The Prayer cave has birthed more than 400 churches across Africa - in Kenya, Uganda,
Tanzania, Sudan and Rwanda. While Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Muthee came to speak at her church.
Here’s what Sarah Palin has to say about the experience, captured on video taken in the church. Keep in
mind, this quote didn’t come from her long ago past. This happened IN JUNE, 2008…three months ago. “As I
was mayor and Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and
he’s so bold. And he was praying “Lord make a way, Lord make a way.” “And I’m thinking, this guy’s really
bold, he doesn’t even know what I’m going to do, he doesn’t know what my plans are. And he’s praying not
“oh Lord if it be your will may she become governor,” no, he just prayed for it. He said “Lord make a way and
let her do this next step. And that’s exactly what happened.” “So, again, very very powerful, coming from this
church.” Muthee has spoken at the Wasilla Assembly of God church no less than 10 times, including the time
he prayed over then Mayor Sarah Palin, giving her the divine shortcut to governorship. He didn’t ask
questions. He didn’t blink. Now, he’s coming back. He is scheduled for multiple speaking engagements in
Wasilla this week. The official vision statement of Muthee’s church (taken directly from the website) is…are
you ready?… Touching lives for total community transformation, thereby taking cities and nations. Taking
cities and nations? Most of us would like our cities and nation to stay just where they are, thankyouverymuch.
When Shannyn was talking in a serious, businesslike way about coordinating with a major media outlet to
discuss the ‘witch hunter’, it struck me how absurd this is. We both started to laugh so hard, we couldn’t stop.
Our governor believes in the power of a guy who believes that demons live in pythons, and witches cause
traffic accidents. She believes that a Kenyan witch-hunter prayed her into office. Ladies and Gentlemen,
behold the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States of America, and tell me what that
says about the Presidential candidate who nominated her. When you decide whether to laugh or cry, let me
know. Meanwhile, grab a beer, or some popcorn, and tune in to Keith Olbermann’s show tonight, hear the
conversation with Shannyn, and marvel at the frightening absurdity that we’ve come to know as Sarah Palin

October 1, 2008 VIDEO: Palin Pastor: ‘Israelites’ run the economy A pastor who blessed Sarah Palin's
run for Alaska governor said Christians should emulate "Israelites" and run the economy. The 2005 video of
South African Pastor Thomas Muthee laying hands on Palin, the Republican vice-presidential pick, surfaced
this week on the Internet. Muthee precedes the blessing with a sermon calling for Christians to assume
control in seven areas of society. "The second area whereby God wants us, wants to penetrate in our society
is in the economic area," he said in the sermon. "The Bible says that the wealth of the wicked is stored up for
the righteous. It's high time that we have top Christian businessmen, businesswomen, bankers, you know,
who are men and women of integrity running the economics of our nations. That's what we are waiting for.
That's part and parcel of transformation. If you look at the -- you know -- if you look at the Israelites, that's
how they work. And that's how they are, even today." The pastor also calls for Christian control of schools.
"We need God taking over our education system," he said. "Otherwise we, if we have God in our schools, we
will not have kids being taught, you know, how to worship Buddha, how to worship Mohammed, we will not
have in the curriculum witchcraft and sorcery."

THOMAS MUTHEE - Thomas Muthee - the Pioneer of Word of Faith Church brings with him tremendous
wealth of experience, wisdom and anointing. The church he started in 1989 commonly known as "Prayer
Cave" has birthed about four hundred churches in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and recently Gisenyi –
Rwanda. Word of Faith Church featured prominently in the first Transformation Video by George Otis
Jr. Since then, this apostolic work has been quoted in many books and other publications. Since 1995,
Thomas, who holds a Masters Degree in Practical Ministry, has trained many young people in Word
of Faith Bible College. The College offers certificate, Diploma and a Bachelors Degree in Practical
Ministry and is reputed for very high standard of training. A respected international speaker, Thomas,
who is 54 years old has two lovely children, Joshua 18 and Ann 17. The first Exchange took place in Nairobi ,
Kenya in April 2008. Pastors, leaders, missionaries and business people joined together to strategically plan
for significant impact on the nations of Africa . There were opportunities for networking, sharing and learning,
investigating current best practices, and accessing opportunities in this great continent. There was also time
to meet together for worship and inspiration from national leaders representing both sides of the globe.
Exchange will be happening again in 2010. Check back here for more details.

http://www.discernment.org/WOF.htm The Word of Faith Movement - Some Facets of The Word of Faith
Movement The Word of Faith (WOF) Movement is difficult to pinpoint as to when it formally began. Without
question its main doctrines came from E.W. Kenyon's writings. Kenneth Hagin ( )is the individual initially
responsible for the propagation of Kenyon's heretical concepts. Every major WOF minister looks to Kenneth
Hagin as the father of the movement. Kenneth Hagin has been involved in Pentecostal ministry since the late
30's but the Word of Faith Movement did not take off as a discernable movement until 1967. Today "dad"
Hagin's heresies reach over 450,000 homes each month via his free magazine "The Word of Faith." His Bible
School Rhema Bible Training Center has spawned WOF churches globally. His disciples have also started
Bible schools which in turn release more error into the Body of Christ.
Some would argue that the WOF movement is not a denomination and they are probably correct in the
classic definition of a denomination. However, Buddy Harrison (Ken Hagin's son-in-law) is Pastor of Word of
Faith Church in Tulsa and Buddy has ordained 100's of pastors who subsequently started Word of Faith
Churches in America and around the world. These ministries are under his oversight. Our former pastor, Ellis
Smith of Jubilee Christian Church in Detroit was ordained by Buddy Harrison and his church was originally
called "Faith Christian Fellowship" but Ellis later broke with Buddy. Pastor Keith Butler of Detroit was ordained
by Buddy Harrison and Keith's church is called "Word of Faith." Keith has also started "Word of Faith"
churches is several other cities. . .all of which are under his direct control and supervision. 100's if not 1,000's
of local congregations look to certain men and women as leaders. These congregations hold the exact same
beliefs, and operate in the same manner as to order of worship equal a denomination. The organization cited
below consists of the major leaders within the WOF movement. These men and women control what is taught
in most WOF congregations: (1) they are looked upon as the revealers of God's present day truth. (2) Pastors
of WOF congregations routinely teach exactly what they have received from these individuals at seminars. (3)
Most WOF churches sell their books in their local church bookstores. (4) When they can afford it, they have
these leaders come and speak in their churches.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word_of_Faith Word of Faith (also known as Word-Faith or simply Faith), is a
family of local Christian churches[1] as well as a teaching movement kindred to many Pentecostal and
Charismatic churches and individuals worldwide. The basic doctrine preached is that of salvation through
Jesus Christ[2] and what that “Salvation” entails. It is based on Jesus of Nazareth’s teachings concerning the
Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven and the state man can receive through the atonement and
sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This state of new being or creation (Found in the Biblical passages 2 Corinthians
5:17 and Galatians 6:15[3](Spirit, Soul and Body) can be received only through faith in the Word of God. It is
unique[citation needed] to other (more established) Christian denominations in that it emphasizes speaking, stating,
or confessing verses found in the Bible, called the Word of God. The belief is that if one believes the Word of
God and confesses it then the believer shall receive what they confessed. This act of believing and speaking
is described by Jesus of Nazareth in Mark 11:22 and 23. The term itself “Word of Faith” is derived from the
Biblical passage Romans 10:8[4] which speaks of "the Word of Faith that we preach."

Kenya: Gang Kills Suspected Witches - By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS A group of up to 300 young men
killed 11 people who were accused of being witches and wizards in western Kenya on Tuesday night and
Wednesday morning, in some cases slitting their throats or clubbing them to death before burning their
bodies, officials said. The young men went through two villages, looking for anyone on a list of suspected
witches and wizards that included the kind of spells individuals were believed to have cast, said Ben Makori,
a local official. He said the villagers complained that the suspected wizards and witches were “making the
bright children in the community dumb.” The deputy police spokesman, Charles Owino, said the gang hunted
down the eight women and three men in the western villages of Kekoro and Matembe. Most victims were
over 70 years old, Mr. Owino said.

VILLAGE, Kenya (CNN) -- It may be difficult for modern-day Western cultures to fathom, but in Western
Kenya, beliefs in ghosts and witches are very real. And sometimes they have deadly consequences. In late
May, news outlets in Kenya told the story of 15 people, mostly elderly women, who were murdered in a witch
hunt near the town of Kisii. The killings shocked the nation. Villagers said more than 100 people gathered
machetes and knives and stormed the village of Kegogi after midnight. "They started banging on the doors,
they broke into the house and then they killed our grandmother inside," says Justus Bosire. "The mob was
screaming and we panicked. We ran away and they came to our house and burned it to the ground." When
Bosire returned to his grandmother's house, he found her dead on the floor in a bed of embers. His father is
missing. "They claim that my grandmother and father were practicing witches," Bosire says. Watch Bosire
describe her die » Belief in witchcraft is strong in this part of Kenya. A few days before the incident, a group
of schoolchildren reportedly found a book in their school that listed all the people in the community who would
soon die and the witches who would be responsible. iReport.com: Share your stories, videos from Africa
For Bosire and his family, the killings are hard to believe. His grandmother, Peris, was the matriarch of the
family. She was 86 but still actively farmed and dispensed invaluable advice to the family. Up the road from
Bosire's house lives Paul Magoma. "I believe there is witchcraft and the witches kill," Magoma says while
building a chapel. His fellow workers concur: Witches exist and can put spells on people. Others are skeptical
the slain women were witches. At the top of a hill outside Kisii, Joseph Omache practices his craft. Omache is
a shaman, or traditional healer. He throws bones and communes with ancestors to help heal physical and
spiritual ailments. "It is very painful when somebody kills another person in the name of witchcraft," he says.
"Why couldn't they come to me so that I can perform my herbal potion to identify the real witch so that I can
go ahead now to trap him and then we can see what to do?" Omache says that in his 10 years of studies and
decades of practicing, he has never come across a witch. "These are vendettas. It is not that people really
bewitched somebody," he says, adding he believes that witch hunts are really about people expressing
hatred and coming up with an excuse to hurt someone. The area is one of the most populated rural areas in
Kenya. Over the years, farming plots have been divided and subdivided. Omache and others say they believe
witch hunts are about greed and vendettas in a place where almost everyone struggles to survive. Whatever
the reason, Bosire and his family must live with the consequences. Due to local taboo, they will never live in
his grandmother's house. The doors are boarded, her belongings still lie charred on the floor. The family fears
further attacks. "We are fearing for our lives," Bosire says. "I knew my grandmother since I was a young child
and I have never seen evidence of her being a witch."

villages is located. Ndirangu said that residents are superstitious and have often targeted suspected
witches and wizards, but this week's attack was the most shocking in recent years. The police officer
who spoke on condition of anonymity said investigators had little hope of making progress because the

Kenya mob kills 11 accused of being witches - By TOM ODULA, Associated Press Writer Wed May 21,
3:29 PM ET NAIROBI, Kenya - A group of up to 300 young men killed 11 people who were accused of being
witches and wizards in western Kenya, in some cases slitting their throats or clubbing them to death before
burning their bodies, officials said. The gang moved home to home through two villages, using a list of
suspected witches and wizards and the kind of spells they were believed to have cast on the community, said
Ben Makori, a local councilor. "The villagers are complaining that the (suspected) wizards and witches are
making the bright children in the community dumb ... These (suspected) witches are not doing good things to
us," Makori told The Associated Press. Deputy police spokesman Charles Owino said that the gang hunted
down the eight women and three men in the western Kenya villages of Kekoro and Matembe. Most of the
victims were over the age of 70, Owino said. Senior administrator Njoroge Ndirangu said that the gang
hunted down their victims Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. A police officer, who spoke on condition of
anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said that investigators had little hope of
making progress because the villagers had refused to identify the people who carried out attacks.
In some cases the gang pulled the victims out of their homes, slit their throats or clubbed them to death, the
officer said. The victims were then thrown back into the homes that the gang already had set on fire, the
officer said. He said that 36 houses were burned. Another police officer, Mwaura Njoroge, said "it is
likely that the people who committed these killings had personal vendettas against their victims."
The violence was not believed to stem from a tribal dispute since the young men and the victims were
members of the same tribe. Ndirangu, the commissioner in charge of Kisii Central district where one of the
villages is located, said that residents are superstitious and have often targeted suspected witches and
wizards. But this week's attack was the most shocking in recent years, Ndirangu said.

Mob violence increased during the year, Occasionally mobs killed members of their communities on
suspicion that they practiced witchcraft (see Sections 2.c. and 5); however, there were no known statistics
about the number of deaths during the year. On October 3, a mob of residents of Nairobi's Kariobangi North

The church is a member of the General Council of Assemblies of God but is involved in numerous Third
Wave/Latter Rain activities specifically condemned by the General Council of AoG since 1949 and again in
2000. This is the church of Palin's youth. They have posted on their site that she was a member until 2002
and frequently participates in events there including a recent speech for the graduation ceremony of the
Master's Commission class. Just below that notice is an advertisement for a prophetic conference at the
church to be led by Steve Thompson who oversees prophetic ministry at Morningstar Ministries, one of the
internationally best known organizations in the movement. This is a repeat visit for Thompson.
Morningstar is a major force in the Third Wave movement and its founder, Rick Joyner, is a prolific
author of Third Wave and Manifest Sons of God theology. You can purchase his books around the world
including in Africa and Asia. Morningstar purchased part of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's Heritage Park for
their headquarters and conference center. Becky Fischer, whose ministry was featured in the movie Jesus
Camp, was a pastor for Morningstar before starting her own ministry.
The students of the Master's Commission program have visited Morningstar and feature pictures of the
visit on their site. This video is an example of the events that are held at Morningstar. A cell phone anointing
can be viewed toward the end of the video. Frances Frangipane, co-author of a number of Third Wave books
with Joyner and Thompson, has also spoken at the church.
Posted on the site is an upcoming visit by Bishop Thomas Muthee. He is also a repeat visitor to the
church. Muthee is featured on the first Transformation video by George Otis of Sentinel Group. See
the previous post, Part One, for background on the Transformation videos. Muthee's story of saving the
village of Kiamba, Kenya by combating a witch is well known in Third Wave groups.
In addition to the Transformation Video, Muthee's story is featured in a book by C. Peter Wagner titled
'Praying with Power.' Wagner has served as the central coordinating figure of the Third Wave
movement and heads the International Coalition of Apostles. Wagner's approximately 500 Apostles each
have churches and ministries under their authority, some with hundreds or even thousands.
The Master's Commission at Wasilla AoG is an international program that replaces college with
religious training grounded in Third Wave ideas. The senior pastor, Ed Kalnins was a graduate of the
Original Masters Commission Phoenix. The program at Wasilla last for three years and costs $7,900. per
year. Students are trained in prophetic gifts, prayers, authority, and intercession. Books by Francis
Frangipane and Steve Thompson are included in the curriculum. Other texts for the program are by John
Bevere who trained under Benny Hinn ( must watch this video) at Orlando Christian Center. Juneau
Christian Church Senior Pastor Mike Rose Palin's church in Juneau is pastored by Mike Rose. Juneau
Christian is also listed as a member of the General Conference of Assemblies of God. Mike Rose is a
longtime associate of Rodney Howard-Browne, an international leader in the movement. Many credit Rodney
Howard-Browne with beginning the manifestation of Holy Laughter worldwide, including handing down the
anointing for the Toronto Airport Blessing. He was interviewed by Tom Foreman on CNN in July 2006. In this
video he is speaking in tongues with Kenneth Copeland. The former General Superintendent of the
Australian Assemblies of God, Andrew Evans, has written about Mike Rose as an example of someone who
has learned how to accommodate manifestations of the Third Wave, such as Holy Laughter, in his own
church without disrupting services. The article in Renewal Journal #7, 1996, described Rose as "an advisor of
Howard Rodney-Browne's Revival Ministries committee... He informed me that he had sat in on over 110 of
Rodney's meetings.." An additional note about Juneau Christian Center - a Christians United for Israel
(CUFI) event is scheduled for Juneau Christian Center but the reference has been scrubbed from John
Hagee's CUFI site. The Juneau Christian Center changed its name from Bethel Assembly of God.
Recently they have built a new youth center called the HUB for which they applied for $50,000 from
the city council and were attempting to get a total of $600,000 in public funds. They presented this as
a community center that would be open to all youth. Church on the Rock, Wasilla Senior Pastor David
Pepper The youth of Church on the Rock attended The Call, Nashville in July 2007. The Call is a Third
Wave/Latter Rain youth movement designed to lead "Joel's Army" in taking dominion over the U.S. for the
Kingdom. Lou Engle was also featured in the movie Jesus Camp. He can be seen toward the end of this
trailer leading the kids to repeatedly yell `righteous judges.' This video features both Rick Joyner of
Morningstar and Lou Engle of The Call explaining their view of the 'Joel's Army' movement. Engle is also
founder of the Justice House of Prayer or JHOP. An additional note on Church on the Rock - Jonathan
Walker, Youth Pastor, lists `teaching abstinence in public schools' in his bio. Wasilla Bible Church Pastor
Larry Kroon I have not seen a direct connection to the Third Wave. They have had repeat visits by David
Brickner, the international leader of Jews for Jesus. Promotional materials for the Liberated Wailing Wall, one
of the major performance projects of Jews for Jesus, have included testimony from Larry Kroon, senior pastor
of the church. See the ad with Kroon's testimony on page four. Also, they have had seminars led by Art
Mathias, former head of Alaska Christian Coalition. Mathias is head of Wellspring Ministries and teaches
healing, and deliverance from evil spirits and generational curses. Mathias also conducts seminars around
the country teaching Hebrew Roots materials. [Because of the significance of this story, it is important that
each piece of documentation be precisely correct. This paragraph concerning Art Mathias should have been
placed under the Church of the Rock, instead of Wasilla Bible Church, as documented in numerous places on
Art Mathias’ Wellsprings Ministries site, www.akwellspring.com . My apologies for the error.] These are just
some examples of the Third Wave Movement at work in several of Sarah Palin's churches. An
excellent summary of the dangers of the movement can be found on Southern Poverty Law Center's
site This site also includes the answer the first question posed at the beginning of this article. Todd Bentley
has now fallen from grace and left the Lakeland Revival but not because he repeatedly kicked a colon cancer
patient in a healing ceremony. (The printed commentary on the video is not mine.) Bentley's activities were
widely supported by much of the movement leadership including Morningstar's Rick Joyner who participated
in a special anointing ceremony for Bentley. See incredible prophecy scene at about 50 seconds into this
video. Joyner and other major leaders of the Third Wave are in the background. Answer to question two - he
has had to leave the Revival because he is getting divorced.
http://igitur-archive.library.uu.nl/dissertations/2008-0710-200706/holvast.pdf R. Holvast – Spiritual
Mapping: The Turbulent Career of a Contested, American Missionary Paradigm, 1989-2005
US Networks under Charles H. Kraft, George Otis Jr. and C. Peter Wagner As a movement, Spiritual
Mapping was focused primarily on persons: ‘I began observing a segment of cutting edge Christianity’,
Wagner wrote. He labels them ‘leaders’, who discovered ‘new forms of prayer for nations and unreached
people groups formerly not known in the World Evangelical Fellowship, the Lausanne Movement, Fuller
Theological Seminary and the National Association of Evangelicals’. The new prayer leaders had discovered
new prayer concepts, such as power prayer, prophetic intercession and prayer for cities and nations. Spiritual
Mapping was considered ‘a new branch on the trunk of the Evangelical prayer movement’. This new group of
leaders, the core group of Spiritual Mapping, was considered to be the ‘cutting edge segment’ of Christianity,
or the spiritual ‘Green Berets’, or ‘an extraordinary group of leaders’ whom God is supposed to have raised
up to lead his Kingdom. The future of the church of Christ is considered to be in their hands, for they have ‘an
ear to hear’ what Jesus ‘entrusted’ to these leaders.18 The persons are ‘leaders’ first by virtue of their insight
into Spiritual Mapping. The leadership has risen to prominence by seeing what others have not seen yet.
They are ‘ahead’ and others are still to catch on. Second, they obtained their (often informal) position
because of their effectiveness and success in ministry, the latter being considered the divine stamp of
approval and validation of the teaching. Success was measured in numerical Church Growth movement
fashion. The apparent insight and success must be acknowledged by others. Divine presence and work
through a person is supposed to produce spontaneous acknowledgement of a God-given ‘ministry’ by other
‘like-minded’ Christians. ‘Ministry’ is not aligned with denominational or academic credentials. Those are not
considered mandatory and sometimes not even considered an asset. The movement itself did not consider
any person as its centre. The leaders are mere vehicles for divine intervention. There was some degree of
institutionalization around the leaders, preferably tentative and low-key. The movement was averse to the
formalization and institutionalization of human structures, which it considered to be a threat to spontaneous
divine action. A non-institutionalization or anti-institutionalization mood was apparent in the movement. Since
some form of organization was needed, organizations were based around those taking the initiative. The
individual was often better known to the public than the official name of the organization. It was not unusual to
find that individual’s name prominent in the name of the organization, such as Wagner Leadership Institute
and Dutch Sheets Ministries. This was considered to be the way it should be. Organizations could cease to
exist relatively easily, when their work was considered to have become obsolete, such as the AD2000 &
Beyond movement. Lists of ‘leaders’, as provided by the movement over the years, almost always feature
individuals and the names of institutions only sometimes and secondarily. The ‘ministries’ are usually
independent, built around the inspiring leader, with a board consisting of members that participate as private
individuals. Although organizational structures were handled with a certain distrust, it did not prevent the
movement from developing well-organized ‘ministries’ on local, regional, national and international levels.
Excellent performance in public relations with websites and digital communities gave it a modern and
progressive image. 18 Otis 1999(b), 2; Wagner 1992(a), 45, 58; 1996, 250.
63 Semi-scholarly books and audio materials could be obtained easily and at low cost. Seminars and
conferences were available at reasonable cost. Existing Evangelical and Charismatic publishing houses were
used, although not the official ones of denominations, to reach the Evangelical public. Generally, the
movement managed to steer away from the scandals of television ministries in the 1990s. Most of the
organizations were members of some financial accountability agency. It is hard to give an estimate of the
number of members of the movement, as will be argued below, since systems of registration were usually not
used or even impossible. The consumer had a relatively independent existence and did not bear
responsibility for the ‘ministry’. The organization was dependent for its income on the amount of attention it
attracted. There was ample room for donations and the sale of publications. Decision-making and the
development of vision and strategy was in the hands of the ‘leader’, sometimes in cooperation with others,
such as the board of the organization. The vision and ensuing strategy had to be communicated to the public.
There was no democratic decision-making process, and no accountability structure for strategies and policies
used. Internally there could be the oversight of a board, and externally there could be informal contact in
networks of the like-minded ‘cutting-edge segment’. The public was viewed as a client. The organizations
were relatively flexible in networking and cooperation. The publications of the movement mentioned each
other frequently and without much hesitation. The personal relation between persons was more important
than organizational ties, and the networks underwent a certain measure of institutionalization. What were the
functions of the networks? The first function was mutual exchange. The networks were there to share
insights, to come to an understanding of trends and mutual encouragement. The first network was the
Spiritual Warfare Network (SWN), which began in 1990 after the movement’s birth in 1989. The members
partook as private individuals.19 The second function was the enhancement of effectiveness through joint
projects. The relationships formed and maintained were spontaneous and irregular. It sometimes gave the
impression of ad hoc actions. Some forms of cooperation lasted for a longer time, like the three-year
Reconciliation Walk. The effective use of the various networks and the enthusiasm with which the projects
were performed, could result in impressive worldwide mobilization and effectively marketed projects. The third
function was the strengthening of public relations. There was often cooperation around publications such as
books, videotapes or websites, and it was common practice for the organizations to recommend one another
through the explicit mention of personal names and organizations. The leaders frequently contributed to (co-)
edited books, including their names, often with a picture and a description of the ministry. This reflected a
sense of unity within the movement and at the same time served public relations, since they used one
another’s platforms. The fourth function was mutual accountability. As noted, the movement was not
democratically structured. This was impossible, since the ‘cutting-edge segment’ claimed to have insights that
the public did not. They could only be understood by and held accountable to those in the same segment. Yet
there was an awareness that leaders could go astray, and accountability networks were gradually 19 Wagner
1992(a), 45, 46.
64 developed. It could take the form of a personal network around a leader, an informal regional meeting of a
few leaders, or a more formal accountability council.20 The networks showed a considerable variation in
personal relationships. The reader should consult the biographical appendix for information about the names
used. The answer to the question who exactly was involved depends on variables like time, function and
varying degrees of intensity of involvement. Some were involved in the development of the concept itself and
some, like Ed Murphy, were involved in the initial stages of the movement but seemed to have phased
themselves out of it. Over the years some did become involved with increasing degrees of identification with
the movement. A first factor determining a person’s position in the movement was that of time. Some persons
were heavily involved in the beginning phases of the movement. Dawson, Murphy, Kraft and Silvoso were
very important for the initial phases. However, Silvoso did not develop the Spiritual Mapping part of his model
any further. Murphy redirected his attention in the second half of the 1990s to other activities, and Dean
Sherman, dubbed by Wagner in 1992 to be someone ‘ahead of us’, disappeared from sight. Kraft, Cindy
Jacobs and Dawson developed into influential mainstays. Among others, Dawson incorporated Spiritual
Mapping into the teaching and practice of YWAM but was not at its public forefront. Ted Haggard became
important in the second half of the 1990s, since his New Life Church was growing and he was engaged in
planning for the World Prayer Center. Clinton E. Arnold, an early member of SWN in 1990, grew into a critic
of the movement by the end of the 1990s but kept in contact with several of its adherents. All in all, there was
a constant coming and going of leaders. This chapter will concentrate on the mainstays and the most
influential persons. Function was a second determining factor for a person’s position in the movement. Some
persons were instrumental in the development of the basic concepts of Spiritual Mapping. As we try to weigh
their relative importance in terms of influence, the many publications of the movement and its critics agree on
the centrality of George Otis Jr, Kraft and Wagner. They formed the very kernel of the leadership of the
movement. Otis’ function was the development of the concept of Spiritual Mapping, its terminology and its
practical approach. Kraft’s function was the development of its anthropological concepts. Wagner’s function
was the development of its theological foundation and, not least, the popularizing and effective marketing of
it. All three had an international platform from which to disseminate their ideas. Third, a person’s position in
the movement was determined by the degree of involvement and identification. There were others who were
involved in exorcism, but they did not consider the advancement of Spiritual Mapping necessarily to be their
core concern. Some did promote the concept but subordinated it to other concepts. They did not develop into
its main advocates. Some were familiar with the concept of territorial spirits but denied involvement in
Spiritual Mapping as such, even if adherents of the movement said otherwise, such as Annacondia and
Cabrera. 20 Wagner 1992(b), 119-129.
65 It is enlightening to determine a few factors that did not play a role in determining a person’s position in the
movement. Many, but not all, adherents had an Evangelical or Charismatic background and had become
involved in independent churches or ministries. Denominational ties did not play a role. Lack of theological
identity made Spiritual Mapping flexible and allowed it to penetrate into denominations and organizations.
The Neo-Pentecostals chose to be neither
Evangelical, nor Charismatic, nor Pentecostal, but the a-dogmatic stance stopped with the Roman Catholic
Church. The majority of the movement did not actively take issue with Roman Catholics, although some
made them the object of their mapping activities.21 Three persons played a pivotal role in the 1980s and the
1990s: Kraft, Otis and Wagner. They formed the core of the leadership of the movement.
http://www.backtothebible.nl/Eng24.doc Translation Dutch letter nr. 24, Kampen, 8th April 2002
Dear brothers, sisters, pastors and elders, When Paul, who was a strict Pharisee, was converted he began to
understand what the gospel of Jesus Christ meant and so right away he changed his opinion and declared: “I
resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” (1 Cor.2: 2) Paul, who
was steeped in the Scriptures having being taught by the highly honoured Gamaliel, began to see what the
scriptures really taught. They weren’t just a set of rules and regulations but rather a message: “God was
pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous
signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling-block to Jews and foolishness
to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the
wisdom of God.” (1 Cor.1:21-24) He was so utterly convinced of this that he stated things that we wouldn’t
dare to: “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to
you, let him be eternally condemned!” (Gal.1:8-9) When Jesus had freed the man from Gerasenes from a
legion of demons he begged Jesus to allow him to go with Him. This was understandable as he had just been
converted and set free and those around him wanted to get rid of Jesus as quickly as possible. This man was
in a difficult situation. But Jesus said to him: “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has
done for you. So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him.”
(Mark 5:19-20) We, as born-again Christians have been given the same commission: to tell what Jesus has
done for us. The message that we have is the same as Paul’s: we preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We
have purposely kept our argument simple and short so that there will be no room for misunderstandings
which can easily arise in detailed explanations. This position can be used through this letter in dealing with
those groups of Christians who clearly hold to a different point of view. We were shocked when examining the
two videos on Transformations to discover how far removed they were from biblical theology. In our last letter
we spoke about the interest there is in praying for and expecting a revival. We also looked at false and true
revivals in Africa. We will now look at the “revivals” which are covered in the two Transformations videos.
Videos Transformations 1 and 2.
The American, George Otis jr. filmed in 1999 four different “revivals” in Cali in Columbia, Almolonga in
Guatemala, Kiambu in Kenya and Hemet in California. (video no. 1). He added a few more in 2001, in the
Polar Region from Northeast Canada, in Uganda and two historical revivals one in Wales and one in
Scotland. (video no. 2). It will become clear to you in the reading of this letter that we do not recognise these
“revivals” as being what they claim to be, with the exception of the two historical ones. That’s why we have
placed the word, revival, between inverted commas.
Reception Transformations videos in the Evangelical world.
Since the first video was put into circulation it has proved a great success. Right away it sold as hot cakes,
not only in the States but also around the whole world. The majority of the reactions after seeing the video
were from positive to very enthusiastic. The second video is now also in circulation and the situation today is
that many Charismatic and Evangelical churches believe what they see on the videos and they are now
propagating them also. Those “revivals” are thought to be wonderful. There is a great desire to experience
the same, by putting into practice in home churches, the same principles mentioned in the videos.
Because of this we, as workgroup, decided to examine this, just like we did with the other revivals in our
previous letter. We first of all looked at the videos and paid attention to what was said. In order to be as
objective as possible we carefully wrote down all the statements given in the subtitles. We noted wherever
possible the name of the person who had made the statement. Alongside this important study we examined
the “faith-letters” of the Sentinel Group. This is the name of the movement, which has produced the
Transformations videos. We also read the last four books written by George Otis jr., the head of the Sentinel
Group. We also looked on the Internet to see what the different sites had to say about the Transformations
videos. In the Netherlands the well-known Internet magazine, Joel News is the promoter and Soul Survivors,
is the sales agency for the videos. These videos can also be bought in Christian bookshops. Although most
of you will have already seen the videos we feel it is right to give a short description of each “revival”. We will
not include the two historical revivals in Wales and Scotland, as they are not relevant to this study.
DRUGS SYNDICATE - Short description of the six “revivals”.
1. Cali in Columbia. In 1995, the local church under the leadership of their pastor began to pray against
the powers and authorities in heavenly places which were strong in this huge drugs city of more than
a million inhabitants. The pastor was shot in front of his church and his wife took over his work. Very
soon after this their prayers began to prove successful. One of the drug barons was arrested and the
police eliminated seven others. God transformed the city. People were able to walk around again
freely without fear. The crime rate dropped drastically. The video shows a huge crowd of people
assembled in a stadium. The people are waving flags and give the impression of being enthusiastic
and full of joy.
AGRICUL-TURE
2. Almolonga in Guatamala. Through prayer and fasting the victory is being won over the powers of
darkness, in a city of twenty thousand inhabitants. The result is now that Almolonga has become the
cleanest and most prosperous city in the land. It is a city full of churches. Beforehand the four prisons
couldn't contain all the prisoners. Because of prayer all four are now closed. There used to be thirty-
four pubs but now only a couple are open. Agriculture has progressed with leaps and bounds. The
vegetable harvests are bountiful. The video shows two different harvests of carrots, one in which the
carrots are long and thin and the other in which the carrots are big and fat.
Whitch
3. Kiambu in Kenya. The Kenyan pastor Thomas Muthee discovered that he couldn’t work in Kiambu,
a suburb of Nairobi because the devil held full sway there. Because of this he looked into the matter
(spiritual mapping) and prayed in accordance to Eph. 6: 12. After six months the power of a
practising witch was broken. The video shows a prayer-walk, taking place around the city. Some
are waving branches. One is playing a flute and carrying the sign: “Join the winners”, another is
carrying a board with the words: “I am drunk in the blood of Jesus”. The crime rates are now extremely
low. The church involved in this belongs to the Word of Faith Church of the Rhema Movement from
Kenneth Hagin. Rodney Howard-Brown also commenced his ministry from this church.
DRUGS
4. Hemet in California. By means of spiritual mapping the intercessors from the churches discovered that
there were many religious sects in the area. It also became plain that Hemet was the methamfetamine
(drugs) capital of the West Coast of America. Through prayer the atmosphere changed. The majority
of the religious sects left the city, crime rates dropped, church attendance rose and the number of
producers of drugs decreased drastically.
ALCOHOL
5. Settlements in the Northeast of Quebec in Canada. Alcohol prevailed in these Eskimo settlements
because of unemployment and apathy and suicide rates were high, especially amongst the youth. The
video describes a legend in which an old Eskimo miraculously catches a seal, which he sacrifices as a
sign that the community wants to follow Jesus. By means of spiritual mapping the situation was made
clear to the intercessors who, were then able to claim the victory in the heavenly places. The people in
the settlements are no longer apathetic, they have no need anymore for alcohol, there are fewer
suicides and the women can again walk safely in the streets.
WAR – AIDS - LESS CRIME
6. Uganda. God isn’t only able to change cities but can change a complete country. An example of this is
Uganda, which is sometimes called the Pearl of Africa. Atrocities took place during several dictators’
reigns of terror, one being Idi Amin. The land suffered greatly from the civil wars where many were
slaughtered and corruption was the order of the day. On top of all this, aids took a heavy toll of lives.
An elderly man and his pastor began, day and night, to seriously pray. God responded and he led
Kayanja, an evangelist to Kampala. Heaven opened when Musoke, a medicine man died. The Miracle
Centre Cathedral, with a capacity for 10,000 participants, came into existence and 600 sister churches
followed. Many people were healed from aids. Uganda is one of the first lands where the aids
epidemic has decreased. God’s power was also seen in politics. He gave new leaders. Miria Matembe
calls himself the Moses of Uganda. Just as water was the path, which led Moses to his destination, so
Uganda is on the road to a historical revival. God has done great things: crime rate has been cut in
half and the economy is the fastest growing of the whole continent. Jesus, seated on the right hand of
the Father says, “I am ready for Uganda”. Uganda, the Pearl of Africa has begun to shine again. Why
has God shown His power so mightily in this area? The answer is, “He was invited”. The Spirit of
revival has to be invited through prayer. Uganda has been renewed and has never been the same
since. God is so good. He has changed society. One day all countries will flourish.
This short summary is based on what we saw and heard on the videos which fall under the responsibility of
George Otis jr. and those who produced the films. We will refer to this later under the paragraph: Final
comments on the Transformations videos. We will first look at the theological aspects found in the videos.
PROOF DOCTRINE OTIS JR.
Spiritual mapping, confessions and spiritual warfare.
These six “revivals” which we have described here began with the special prayers of intercessors. By means
of spiritual mapping, confessions of past sins and spiritual warfare, a breakthrough was made. It can’t be
denied that the lessons and principles of spiritual warfare are made clear in a very practical way. The picture
portrayed on the videos is given as proof that this theology works. At least this is what George Otis jr. wants
the viewers to believe. All the pastors connected to these “revivals” believe in this teaching and three of them
are board members of the Sentinel Group. The Sentinel Group is the movement, which discovered this
teaching and promotes it. Dr. Peter Wagner also practises this doctrine but he admits that the honour for the
“discovery” of this doctrine of spiritual warfare goes to George Otis jr. (see foreword book “Informed
Intercession”)
DIFFERENT
The promotion of the “revivals” comprises of the following elements: great crowds of “changed “ people,
usually in stadiums; statements from important high-up officials from the city of land, praising the “revival”, in
most cases they are unconverted. In each of the “revival areas” there is a specific social problem that needs
dealing with. In the city of Cali in Columbia: the drug syndicate; in the city of Almolonga in Guatemala: the
barrenness; in the city of Kiambu in Kenya: the poverty and the crime; in the city of Hemet in California:
drugs; in the settlements in Quebec in Canada: alcohol and the safety of women on the streets; in Uganda:
the waging of war by the war lords and the aids epidemic. Contrary to these six “revival areas” the problems
of the two historical revivals mentioned in Transformations 2 are of a very different nature. Social problems
are not the issue here but rather spiritual problems. In the Hebrides in Scotland and in Wales there was a
deep conviction of sin. After hearing the word the people were desperate and called out to God in their need.
Here we don’t see any unconverted high official sounding the praises for what has taken place but people
coming to faith in Christ through the help of other believers. There is also no word about spiritual mapping,
confessions of past sins and spiritual warfare. These were true revivals! Another interesting feature is that the
videos give the impression that Christians can stir up a revival by themselves.
COPY - Producing a revival oneself.
The effect on many Christians after seeing the videos is one of: “We’ve got to have this too.” In some cases
this leads to folks coming together to work out how to go about it. Very soon people’s attention is centred on
the methods used in the videos. (George Otis jr. has written a number of books in which the methods used
are described. Still to be translated into Dutch.) In his book: “Informed Intercession” with the sub title: Change
your Community by Spiritual Mapping and Strategic Prayer” he has listed seventy-five new theological
conceptions. The book begins with eight positive reviews from pastors and others like-minded. We’ll quote
one of them; “This book has become the clear line of direction for us here in Japan in making definite steps
towards revival. We are full of expectancy that radical changes will take place.” Paul K. Ariga, Chairman of
the Revival Mission in Japan. The foreword is written by Peter Wagner, a fervent supporter of the teaching of
George Otis jr. The transformations in Cali, Hemet and Almolonga, which are shown in the first video are
mentioned in detail in his book and are used as examples. This shows that George Otis jr. produced the
videos as propaganda material to spread his doctrine.
SELF-MADE REVIVAL
Comment workgroup: We believe that man cannot bring about a revival. You cannot find any examples of this
in the Bible. On the contrary, the Bible speaks very little, to almost nothing, about revivals. In our last letter
(no.23) we covered this in detail. We have also covered in the letters no. 20 and 21 the doctrine of spiritual
mapping, confessions for the sins of the forefathers and the strategic, spiritual warfare and shown it to be
unbiblical. It is a doctrine that originates in human philosophy. Modern man thinks that by using special
methods he can create a situation in which God has to act. God can’t do anything else but give a revival! But
God does not let Himself be manipulated. He does not let Himself be pushed about. He is sovereign. He is
above everything and He will certainly not let Himself be influenced through methods thought out by man.
We will now look at the spiritual contents of the videos.
GOD SOVEREIGN
Spiritual Content of Transformations videos 1 and 2.
If a revival is reported then we expect, as born-again Christians to hear a spiritual account. This is the
principal factor of a revival. Social changes because of the spiritual change can be mentioned but they are of
secondary importance. This can be clearly seen in historical revivals. The videos show the opposite. The
social changes are here the principal issue. The spiritual changes are far and few between. We don’t see too
much at all of the spiritual aspects. It is not an account of a deep spiritual change in the hearts of the people
involved. God is often mentioned in the commentary of the six different “revivals”, but this is however nearly
always in the context of: God said to the intercessors; God told them; God saw the city; God was changing
the city; God’s moving in the city; God then chose Cali; God is doing a new work; God gave us the
assurance; God’s presence descended on the city; the farmers gave God the glory for this abundant harvest;
God is using our generation to transform the whole world. The word Bible or God’s word is hardly ever
referred to in the videos. It is also not read or preached from. Surely we are called to bring the gospel by the
preaching of the word? “How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they
believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to
them?” (Rom.10:14)
POOR SPIRITUAL CONTENT
The words, sin and death on the cross are not mentioned in the videos. This is very strange seeing that this
was the reason Jesus came to this world. He didn’t come in order to make the carrots in Almolonga bigger or
to give the Christians in Cali a quieter life. He came because mankind was dead and lost in their sin. He
came to save them from this sin and guilt. That’s why He died at Calvary. It was there that He shed his
precious blood. He gave His life as a ransom for many. His death on the cross, brought victory over sin for all
who believe. This is what Paul was determined to preach: “Jesus Christ and Him crucified”. How can revivals
take place without the preaching about sin and the lost state of man and Christ’s sacrificial death? In this way
the heart of the gospel is removed. We have to ask ourselves therefore if the Christians that we see on the
videos are truly born-again. According to the standard of the Bible, they can’t be. The terms born-again and
sanctification by the Holy Spirit are also not mentioned in the videos. Do these people, the people of this
“revival”, not need this? Nicodemus came to Jesus at night and Jesus said to him: “no-one can see the
kingdom of God unless he is born again.” He then continues and says: “I tell you the truth, no-one can enter
the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” (John 3:3-5) Due to the questions that the
videos raise about the spiritual content, we have tried to discover what George Otis jr. himself believes.
UNKNOWN IN THE NETHER-LANDS, George Otis jr. and the American Moral Government Theology.
The majority of us will not be familiar with the term, moral theology. All the same it does exist and is known in
theological circles. The title describes what it is, a theology which is concerned with morality, how man
behaves. During 1970-1990 this theology received a lot of attention in the States and was called Moral
Government Theology. In the seventeenth century the Dutch lawyer, Hugo Grotius, first referred to this moral
theology in its rudimentary form. In the nineteenth century Charles Finney, a lawyer and a revival preacher
(1792-1875) expanded the Moral theology and fervently proclaimed it. This is the reason why so many
opposed him. Finney expressed his ideas in his book: “Systematic Theology”. A number of evangelists, in
the twentieth century, have also embraced in their sermons the American Moral Government Theology. Two
of these are the late Gordon C. Olson and George Otis jr. They both taught at several different
interdenominational American institutions from 1970-1990. MGT became a regular part of the curriculum for
many YWAM schools. George Otis jr. wrote about this in 1978 in his book: “The God They Never Knew”.
This theology is based on the philosophy of the free will of man. Man’s future is uncertain and even God
doesn’t know what man will do because man can and must choose independently whether to sin or not. This
has far reaching consequences for God and man. It will soon become clear to you in reading the following
that we do not agree with this theology. To show the comparison, the evangelical view is also given.
The Moral Government Theology is in short the following:
SUMMARY OF DOCTRINE
American Moral Government Theology versus Evangelical Theology.
The counsels of God.
The Moral Government View.
1. God does not fulfil some of His own prophecies.
2. God changes His mind and is not immutable.
3. God does not have sovereign control over earthly events.
The Evangelical View.
1. Only false prophecies spoken by false prophets do not become reality (Deut.18: 20,21).
2. God does not change His mind according to His purposes (1 Sam. 15: 29; Is.46: 11).
3. God has sovereign control and will, in the end, work things out (Job 42: 2; Rom. 8: 28).
The Omniscience/Foreknowledge of God.
The MG View.
1. God does not know His future actions.
2. God does not know ahead of time the free decisions of humans.
3. God’s foreknowledge is limited in the area of man’s free decisions.
4. Many of the things God predicted never came true.
The Evangelical View.
1. God does know His future actions (Is. 46: 9,10).
2. God does know these free decisions ahead of time (John 13: 38; 1 Sam. 23: 12).
3. God’s understanding is infinite (Ps. 147: 5).
4. What God predicts has or will come true (Num. 23: 19; Is.41: 22ff).
The Atonement.
The MG View.
1. The atonement shows a willingness on God’s part to forgive, rather than a desire to punish sin.
2. God forgives completely out of His grace rather than a need for personal vindictive satisfaction.
3. God never needed His wrath abated because of sin.
4. The atonement does not pay our debt for sin.
5. The devil has deceived us into believing that Christ was a ransom for us, and that He redeemed us by
paying for our sins.
6. Jesus did not pay for our sins.
7. To believe that our salvation was literally purchased with Christ’s blood makes God to be vindictive and
bloodthirsty.
The Evangelical View.
1. The atonement is Christ taking the punishment for our sins (Is. 53: 5; Nah. 1: 3).
2. Punishment of sin satisfies God’s wrath on sin (1 John 2: 2) Note: Propitiation in Greek is hilasmos “a
satisfaction; that which turns away wrath and makes amends for sin”.
3. Christ abates God’s wrath through His sacrifice (Rom. 3: 25).
4. His death does cancel our debt when we believe (Col. 2: 14)
5. We are redeemed through the blood of the Lamb (1 Pet. 1:18-19) Note: Greek elutrothete – to secure
release through payment.
6. Jesus did pay for our sins (Matt. 20: 28) Note: Greek lutron, a payment for loosing a ransom price.
7. Christ purchased the church with His own blood (Acts 20: 28; Heb. 9:22).
Justification.
The MG View.
1. One is ultimately responsible for his/her own salvation because of free will.
2. Imputed righteousness is a lie. God does not look on Christians through the garb of Christ’s blood.
3. True repentance means ceasing from all sin before we die.
4. Salvation is not so dependent on whether we accept Christ – it’s whether He will accept us. We need to
do more so that He will want to accept us.
5. Salvation is dependent upon our adherence to moral law.
The Evangelical View.
1. One can do nothing to save oneself (Eph. 2: 8).
2. Our righteousness does come through Christ with the imputation of His righteousness (Rom. 4: 5; Phil. 3:
9; Heb. 10: 14).
3. We are continually falling short of God’s glory; hence the need to rest upon Christ’s sacrifice. It is only
through Him, not our works that we are saved (Rom. 3: 23-24; Titus 3: 5).
4. Christ accepts and saves us where and for who we are (Rom. 5: 6-8; Jn.1: 12; Mark 2: 16-17).
5. Salvation is not dependent upon our adherence to moral law (Rom. 3: 28).
The Holiness of God., The MG View.
1. God is holy only because He chooses to use His attributes in a loving way.
2. God has the ability to make wrong choices or to sin.
The Evangelical View.
1. God is holy and is love; it’s in His nature (1 Jn. 4: 16; 1 Jn.1: 5).
2. God cannot sin; it’s not His nature (Hab. 1: 13; Heb. 6: 18; Jas. 1: 13).
Sin., The MG View.
1. Our moral character is shaped merely by our individual acts of sin.
2. If an individual unknowingly commits a sin, it is not a sin to that person and they will not be held to
account for it by God.
3. The sin of Adam is not transmitted to us, and it would be unjust for God to pronounce us guilty because of
his sin.
4. If God condemns us all because of Adam’s sin, God must also save everyone because of what Christ did
(Rom. 5: 19). This is universalism, and therefore both parts of the argument must be wrong.
5. Our moral depravity is shaped solely by wrong and sinful choices we make.
Evangelical View.
1. Mankind’s nature is naturally disposed towards sinning (1 Jn. 1: 8; Rom. 7: 17,20,21).
2. Sin is sin even if an individual does not recognise it or personally acknowledge it (1 Cor. 4: 4; Lev. 5: 16;
Luk. 23: 24).
3. We are born sinful because of Adam’s original sin (Rom. 5: 16-18).
4. We are all condemned because of Adam’s sin but not all saved because of Christ’s work. Each individual
still has to personally make a choice to follow Christ (Rom. 5: 17).
5. Our moral depravity comes from our sinful nature as well as our individual choices (Ps. 51: 4; Job 25: 4).
Moral Ability., The MG View.
1. We as humans are able to fulfil the law.
2. Humans are not bound to sinful flesh that continually wants to sin. Through good choices and an iron will,
mankind can turn away from sin in and of him/herself.
3. One can achieve perfection if that individual sets his/her goals high enough.
The Evangelical View.
1. We are not able to fulfil the law; hence the need for a Saviour (Rom. 8: 3; Gal. 3: 21; 3: 16; Eph. 2: 1).
2. Our flesh is in bondage to sin and, left on its own cannot do good. Once more a reason for a Saviour
(Rom. 7: 14,18; Gal. 5: 17).
3. We are continually and always will fall short of God’s glory (Rom.3: 23).
PROTESTS AGAINST DOCTRINE
The above is paraphrased from Dr. Alan Gomes’ important book “Lead us not into deception”.
The spreading of the MGT caused a real stir in evangelical circles. In 1986 a meeting took place between
several evangelical leaders and the then current YWAM leaders. Those leaders said that they couldn’t control
everything, which was taught in all of the YWAM schools. They also said that they did not want to forbid or
support one specific line of doctrine in view of their interdenominational character. According to the American
Greg Robertson who as staff member of YWAM spent a number of years under the influence of this doctrine,
it cost him a long struggle to be free from it. After leaving YWAM Greg studied theology and is now a qualified
minister in an American church.
ELEMENTS OF THE DOCTRINE
Seeing all this took place between 1970 and 1990 the question arises if this doctrine is still being preached
and adhered to. It is no longer part of YWAM’s curriculum. It is not clear where the former lecturer, George
Otis jr. stands. There is certainly no known written renunciation. He has never withdrawn his textbook “The
God They Never Knew”. On the contrary he refers to this book in one of his most recent books “Informed
Intercession” 1999. In view of the spiritual content of the videos, which we have just described and in view of
the contents of the books, which we have read, we are left with grave doubts about the present spiritual
convictions of George Otis jr. It seems to us that he still adheres to Moral Government Theology and that
several elements of this doctrine can be found in the videos of the six “revivals” of Transformations. The heart
of the gospel has been omitted: Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, His sacrifice to bring us reconciliation. We
have already stated this in the chapter “Spiritual Content of the Videos”. The Moral Government Theology
denies that it is necessary that someone needs to die for the guilt and the sins of mankind. Man is quite able
to manage himself as long as he makes the right choice between good and evil. As workgroup we have no
choice but to call this heresy. Charles Finney (1792-1875) who instigated this doctrine was opposed, and
rightly so, by his theological contemporaries. One of those, although not specifically mentioned in connection
with Finney’s doctrine was Charles Hodge (1797-1878). He commented on the verse: “For I resolved to know
nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Cor. 2: 2) the following: “ Paul’s only
reason for going to Corinth was to preach Christ – Christ, not as a teacher or a good example or as a perfect
man or as a new beginning for mankind, but Christ and Him crucified - that means, dying for our sins. Paul’s
chief theme in his preaching was Christ, the Redeemer. It has rightly been noted that Jesus Christ speaks of
the person of Christ and Him crucified speaks of His work. These two together represent the Gospel.” We will
now close this subject with some final comments.
Final comments on the Transformations videos.
The Sentinel Group of George Otis jr. claims that fifty million people throughout the world have seen the
videos. It is not very surprising therefore that they have caught the attention of several research groups for
Christian apologetics. Their conclusions are not positive. Especially the reports on crime rates dropping, less
violence, less sickness etc. have raised many questions.
TRUE OR NOT TRUE
Cali in Colombia. The drugs syndicate in Cali is still very powerful. The only difference is that some of them
now live outside the city. One of the syndicates is being run from a prison cell. The police know who the killer
of the pastor is but he hasn’t been arrested. This man has even attacked the church for a second time, as he
wants the piece of ground upon which the church is built. There are still regular reports of kidnappings, car
bombs, shootings, etc. These are facts, which can be proved by an inspection of the statistics of the police
and law courts. . There is no proof of falling crime rates to be detected. Almolonga in Guatemala. The
improved crop results in the agriculture came not about because of a special intervention from God. Civil war,
which lasted well over twenty years has taken its toll on the ground and left it virtually fallow. So the soil has
not suffered by depletion, but has been relatively fertilized. Modern pesticides have also been used which
naturally makes for larger harvests. The size of the produce is determined by several factors. The type of
seed is important and the modern agricultural methods have brought great improvement. Kiambu, a suburb
of Nairobi in Kenya. We are told in the video that this area had the worst reputation in the land and was full of
violence and rape. But this is not backed up by police reports, authorities of justice or any other official
source. There are also no official reports of reform because of the “revival”. We do realise that often things
work differently in an African land so we consulted the magazine “Internationale Samenwerking”
(International Co-operation) of the Dutch Ministry of development aid. In this paper there is no report of a
decline in crime during the last years in Kenya. Hemet, California in America. The video tells us that this is the
methamfetamine (drugs) capital of the west. Because of the “revival” the number of drug factories has
decreased and the crime rate has significantly dropped. When enquiries were made, to the official authorities,
it turned out that they had no knowledge of this. Settlements in the Northeast of Quebec in Canada. We
cannot comment on the facts claimed in the video, as we couldn’t find a source for information.
CONFLICTING REPORTS
Uganda. A picture is painted here of a land which because of the “revival” has made a new start in all sorts of
ways. It is meant to be one of the first lands where the number of aids patients has decreased. The crime rate
has been halved. Uganda is once again the pearl of Africa because of the “revival”. Here too, as in Kiambu,
there are no official reports to confirm this. There is also no mention in the magazine for International Co-
operation for development about the change in the statistics on aids and crime. This magazine publishes, at
the beginning of each year, a survey of the susceptibility for conflict in every land of the world. Uganda is
listed as a country involved in a very serious armed conflict complicated by many armed conflicts. The
prognosis is also given in the magazine. The future for Uganda doesn’t look too bright. It is expected that the
intensity of the conflict will escalate. All this together causes us to have serious doubts about the
trustworthiness of the claims uttered on the videos.
NOT
CORRECT
Prophet Joshua a prophet of God or a sorcerer?
The Evangelical Broadcasting Company published in their TV guide, “Visie” (Vision) of the 6th –13th March a
positive article written by Gianni Brisson believing him to be a prophet. However, in the magazine “Uitdaging”
(Challenge) of 10th March we read that there are now doubts by a number of people who were, at first,
impressed by him. Several international web sites believe him to be a medicine man. Was it therefore wise of
the EO (Evangelical Broadcasting Company of the Netherlands) who is aware of our opinion to print such an
article? Could their Evangelical vision perhaps have become a bit blurred?
Rectifications.
In our last letter we made a few regrettable mistakes in our reports. We are sorry for this.
• The paragraph: Morris Cerullo calls……than that. *02 on page 1 should read : “Morris Cerullo calls
himself in his letter of October 1995, the prophet of God. He prophesied that he would, in the next four
years (from that date) reach one-milliard people with the gospel. One-milliard people are a sixth of the
world population. You could hardly imagine a greater revival than that. *02
• Claudia Freidzon on Page 4 should read: Claudio Freidzon.
• On page 5 we called Reinhard Bonnke’s movement. The church for all Nations. This should read: Christ
for All Nations. On page 6 the sentence: “This church is part of the Church for all Nations from Reinhard
Bonnke” should be eradicated.

"Sarah Palin's Demon Haunted Churches").

"same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which
showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are
involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of
the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation. The movement is training a young "Joel's Army" to
take dominion over the United States and the world. Along with her entire family, Sarah Palin was re-
baptized at twelve at the Wasilla Assembly of God in Wasilla, Alaska and she attended the church from the
time she was ten until 2002: over two and 1/2 decades. Sarah Palin's extensive pattern of association with
the Wasilla Assembly of God has continued nearly up to the day she was picked by Senator John McCain as
a vice-presidential running mate. Palin's dedication to the Wasilla church is indicated by a Saturday,
September 7, 2008, McClatchy news service story detailing possibly improper use of state travel funds by
Palin for a trip she made to Wasilla, Alaska to attend, on June 8, 2008, both a Wasilla Assembly of God
"Masters Commission" graduation ceremony and also a multi-church Wasilla area event known as "One
Lord Sunday." At the latter event, Palin and Alaska LT Governor Scott Parnell were publicly blessed, onstage
before an estimated crowd of 6,000, through the "laying on of hands" by Wasilla Assembly of God's Head
Pastor Ed Kalnins whose sermons espouse such theological concepts as the possession of
geographic territories by demonic spirits and the inter-generational transmission of family "curses".
Palin has also been blessed, or "anointed," by an African cleric, prominent in the Third Wave
movement, who has repeatedly visited the Wasilla Assembly of God and claims to have effected
positive, dramatic social change in a Kenyan town by driving out a "spirit of witchcraft."
The Wasilla Assembly of God church is deeply involved with both Third Wave activities and theology. Their
Master's Commission program is part of an three year post-high school international training program with
studies in prophecy, intercessory prayer, Biblical exegesis, authority and leadership. The pastor, Ed Kalnins,
and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a "prophetic
conference" at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement.
Becky Fischer was a pastor at Morningstar prior to being featured in the movie "Jesus Camp." The
head of prophecy at Morningstar, Steve Thompson, is currently scheduled to do a prophecy seminar at the
Wasilla Assembly of God. Other major leaders in the movement have also traveled to Wasilla to visit and
speak at the church. The Third Wave is a revival of the theology of the Latter Rain tent revivals of the 1950s
and 1960s led by William Branham and others. It is based on the idea that in the end times there will be
an outpouring of supernatural powers on a group of Christians that will take authority over the
existing church and the world. The believing Christians of the world will be reorganized under the Fivefold
Ministry and the church restructured under the authority of Prophets and Apostles and others anointed by
God. The young generation will form "Joel's Army" to rise up and battle evil and retake the earth for
God. While segments of this belief system have been a part of Pentecostalism and charismatic beliefs for
decades, the excesses of this movement were declared a heresy in 1949 by the General Council of the
Assemblies of God, and again condemned through Resolution 16 in 2000. The beliefs and
manifestations of the movement include the use of 'strategic level spiritual warfare' to expel territorial
demons from American and world cities. Worship includes excessive charismatic manifestations such as
hundreds of people falling, 'slain in the spirit,' and congregations laughing, jerking, and shrieking
uncontrollably. In early 2008 an outbreak of those phenomena commenced at the palatial former
ministry estate of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, recently bought up and restored by prominent Third
Wave author and leader Rick Joyner's Morningstar Ministries. The (spiritual) "breakout" lasted for many
weeks and was publicized in an extensive collection of video footage available on YouTube. Healing services
in the Third Wave movement claim to heal the sick and injured through methods that in some cases can
appear bizarre - including, as in recent cases involving Todd Bentley, the patient being head butted or kicked
by the anointed healer. Recipients of such "spiritual" or miraculous healing make a wide range of astonishing
claims - to have been cured of life-threatening illnesses, had joints repaired or replaced, been given gold
teeth or gold fillings, regrown stunted limbs and even had deformed skeletal structures straightened and
reshaped. Worldwide mission efforts of the movement are built around the idea of combating witches,
warlocks, and generational curses, which prevent churches from being able to take root.
Thomas Muthee visited Wasilla Assembly of God and gave 10 consecutive sermons at the church,
from October 11-16 2005. As both Palin and Wasilla AoG Head Pastor Ed Kalnins have attested,
Thomas Muthee 'prayed over' Sarah Palin and entreated God to "make a way" prior to Palin's successful bid
for the Alaska governorship. Muthee made a return visit to the Wasilla Assembly of God in late 2008.
Thomas Muthee's Word of Faith Church is featured in the "Transformations" video which details an
account on how Muthee drove "the spirit of witchcraft" out of Kiambu, Kenya, liberating the town
from its territorial demonic possession and enabling a miraculous societal transformation. The
"Transformations" video set is used as an argument for social improvement through spiritual instead of
human means, and as the best method for fighting corruption, crime, drugs and even environmental
degradation. In the video, producer George Otis declares that after Thomas Muthee and his followers
banished the "spirit of witchcraft" from the town, the crime rate in Kiambu dropped almost to zero, along
with the rate of alcoholism, and according to Otis most of the residents of the town joined churches. The
"Transformations" video has helped spark a network of 'Transformation' ministries and mission
organizations and 'transformation' has become a buzz word for change based on supernatural
instead of human efforts.
The Third Wave, also known as the New Apostolic Reformation, is a network of Apostles, many of them
grouped around C. Peter Wagner, founder of the World Prayer Center. This center, which was built in
coordination with Ted Haggard and his New Life Church in Colorado Springs, was featured in an article by
Jeff Sharlet in Harpers, May 2005, "Soldiers of Christ." Sharlet was one of the first to write in the secular
press about the World Prayer Center which is often referred to by those familiar with the Third Wave
as the 'Pentagon for Spiritual Warfare.' It features computer systems that store the data of communities
around the world, mapping out unsaved peoples' groups and spiritual mapping information for
spiritual warfare. Wagner has his own group of about 500 Apostles in his council and each of these Apostles
has ministries under their authority, sometimes hundreds or thousands. Recently various networks of
Apostles came together to form the Revival Alliance. Leaders of the Revival Alliance including Rick Joyner
of Morningstar anointed Todd Bentley whose Lakeland Healing Revival has recently been a controversial
topic in the Evangelical world.
Wagner's top leaders often conduct spiritual warfare campaigns against the demons that block the
acceptance of their brand of Christian belief, such as 'Operation Ice Castle' in the Himalayas in 1997.
Several of their top prophets and generals of intercession spent weeks in intensive prayer to "confront the
Queen of Heaven." This queen is considered by them to be one of the most powerful demons over the earth
and is the Great Harlot of Mystery Babylon in Revelation. (The "Great Harlot [or 'whore'] of Mystery Babylon"
theme also figures prominently in the sermons of Texas megachurch pastor and Christians United For
Israel founder John Hagee, former endorser of John McCain's 2008 presidential bid.) Wagner and his group
also claim that the Queen of Heaven is Diana, the pagan god of the biblical book Ephesians and the god of
Mary veneration in the Roman Catholic Church. Following the 'Operation Ice Castle' prayer excursion which
included planting a flag for Jesus on Mt. Everest, one of the lead prayer intercessors from the excursion, Ana
Mendez, reported that there had been dramatic results including, "millions have come to faith in Asia... and
other things happened which I believe are also connected...an earthquake had destroyed the basilica
of Assisi, where the Pope had called a meeting of all world religions; a hurricane destroyed the
infamous temple 'Baal-Christ' in Acapulco, Mexico; the Princes Diana died... and Mother Theresa died
in India, one of the most famous advocates of Mary as Co-Redeemer." Mike Rose, senior pastor of
Juneau Christian Center has a long relationship with Rodney Howard -Browne, credited with being the
instigator of the outbreak of 'Holy Laughter' around the world, including the Toronto Airport Revival.
Church of the Rock, led by Senior Pastor David Pepper, has taken their youth to participate in 'The Call,
Nashville.' This event is held at various locations around the country under the leadership of Lou Engle, also
featured in the movie "Jesus Camp." At these events youth are worked into a frenzy of anger and
consternation at supposed national moral corruption. Engle, who shuffles while he preaches in imitation of
Jewish prayer, is featured toward the end of the "Jesus Camp" video documentary. The Third Wave
movement is cross-denomination and is not synonymous with any specific denomination, nor is it
synonymous with Evangelical or Fundamentalist. Although the movement emerged from
Pentecostalism, it draws its support from a variety of denominations and religious streams. They
believe they are forming a post-denominational church to take the world for the end times. To date, all
of the writing and objections to this movement have emerged from other Evangelicals and
Fundamentalists who believe the movement to be unbiblical. Also, it is other conservative churches that
refuse to embrace the 'outpouring of the Spirit' that are targets of much of the anger of the movement.

Internet video First Published 2008-09-26, Last Updated 2008-09-26 15:22:36 Video shows church preacher
calling for witches, other Palin enemies to be defeated. LOS ANGELES - An Internet video showing Sarah
Palin being blessed by a Kenyan witch-hunter emerged Thursday in the latest online blast from the
Republican vice-presidential nominee's past. The video appeared on Youtube and several sites showing Palin
taking part in a 2005 service at a Pentecostal church in Alaska where preacher Thomas Muthee calls for
witches and other Palin enemies to be defeated. In the video, Palin can be seen standing before Muthee with
her head bowed as her hands are held by two members of the congregation. In his sermon, Muthee praises
Palin for her quest to become governor of Alaska and calls on other church members to seek positions of
influence. "In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke. In the
name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, father make away now," Muthee says in the video.
"Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan," he adds. "Make her way, my
God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus. Use her to turn this nation the
other way around." There was no immediate reaction from the campaign of White House hopeful John
McCain to the second Internet video to appear in recent weeks that gives an insight into Palin's devout
religious beliefs. Earlier this month, a video surfaced from a speech Palin had given in June to students at
her former church in Alaska where she said United States forces in Iraq had been sent on a "task that is from
God." "Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right," Palin said in the video.
"Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [soldiers] out on a task that is from
God," she said.

This: Palin Muthee Witch Hunt Africa Diary Entry by Sandy Sand She credits Pastor Thomas Muthee for
her governorship, because of his “layin‘ on of hands” prior to her elecetion. Muthee got his start in the small
African town of Kiamby, Kenya, outside of Nairobi, by ridding the village of the “reigning witch” who allegedly
caused traffic accidents and other witchy deeds. Seems like the rungs on the pastor’s ladder to success were
made up of witch’s broom sticks. And he boasts of his “triumph” over this imagined “evil.” And we thought
witch hunting died 315 years ago in Salem, Mass. I wonder if Palin and Muthee go on witch hunts together
and shoot them from helicopters.

mas+Muthee+witch&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us Praying Down God's Power
By Adrienne S. Gaines A growing number of intercessors across sub-Saharan Africa believe God
wants to dramatically transform their nations. "leader of Kenya House of Prayer, a grassroots movement
that mobilizes and trains intercessors in spiritual warfare, believes a new day is dawning for Africa. "We have
been learning that prayer changes things," he told Charisma. "It is not the politicians. It is not the economists.
We have been put here by God as an instrument of change." Olanipekun, a Nigerian missionary to Kenya,
has seen prayer work. After his group spent a week fasting and praying for the nation, Kenya President
Daniel Arap Moi, a professing Christian who has been criticized for human rights abuses, suddenly called the
nation to three days of prayer. Kenya House of Prayer--a branch of Intercessors for Africa, a network of
ministries dedicated to praying for the Africa--led the culminating event, which was broadcast live on three
national stations and saw 5,000 attendees, including church and government officials. Intercessors led the
group in repentance for idolatry, witchcraft and government corruption. They then laid hands on the mayor of
neighboring Kisumu and the deputy mayor of Nairobi. After the leaders repented, it began to rain--and
continued for 45 minutes. "Many saw the rain as a sign of God's mercy and answer to prayer," Olanipekun
says. "The general feeling of the people who attended the meeting was of hope for the nation" "before the
African church can lead abroad, it must first take the lead at home. Madugba believes God has given the
African church an anointing to overtake their enemy. He says God is purging Africa of idolatry, and
empowering believers to dethrone ancient deities. In February, Madugba led a team to destroy a 520-year-old
shrine called Nnemiri, which has been described as a continental deity and stood on 10 acres of land in Abia
state in eastern Nigeria. "Because of that evil, there was no development in that place," he says.
"Most people in that city and neighboring towns believe it is madness for anyone to attempt confronting the
deity...However, because of the terrible, obvious, sinister effects of the continuing presence of Nnemiri in that
community, they became willing to do anything possible to have it destroyed." After fasting and praying for
seven days, Madugba says the Lord showed him and a team of 150 intercessors step-by-step how to break
every covenant that had been made with the god. For three days and nights, Madugba and his team
repented for the thousands of murders committed at the shrine and prayed that God would use Christ's blood
to reconcile the land and the people to Himself. "We submitted ourselves in prayer to God to direct us. We
went into fierce prayer warfare using Scriptures against the deity and her family because we discovered she
had a family," Madugba says. "The deity fought back with strange snakes, bees and [other] manifestations.
We went ahead to kill physically all of these. We visited every altar, broke the covenant on which they
were built, tore them down and closed the evil spiritual gates such altars opened. "In their place, we
dedicated those spots to God. We burned the courthouse, the main shrine and the serving shrine
houses with fire." Today a church is being constructed at that site. Identifying the seat of authority in his
city is what transformed pastor Thomas Muthee's community. Kiambu, Kenya, about an hour outside Nairobi,
was once known for its crime, poverty and alcohol abuse. Women were afraid to go out at night; churches
wouldn't grow beyond a few dozen members. When Muthee moved there in 1989 to plant a church, he spent
the first six months praying and researching the region. Soon he discovered that a spirit of witchcraft
hovered over the town, with a witch doctor named Mama Jane holding a seat of authority. Muthee's
congregation prayed nonstop 24 hours a day in what became known as "the Prayer Cave" until they sensed
the power had been broken. They then began to see people coming to Christ in large numbers. Mama Jane
retaliated with her sorcery, but the church continued to pray, and within weeks she moved away.
Muthee, whose story is recounted in George Otis Jr.'s Transformations video, says the atmosphere has
changed since she left, crime is down, and the popu lation has increased by more than 30 percent. Today
churches here have grown, and more than 400 intercessors from Muthee's 5,000-member Word of
Faith Church pray daily for the region. "Prayer generates a power...that transforms," Muthee says. "If
God can do it in Kiambu, He can do it anywhere." Faith for the Future Members of Kenya House of
Prayer hope to see similar transformation in their community and throughout the continent. Through
Sundoulos (which means "servants of the same Lord" in Greek) Africa Leadership Training and the
Africa Business Forum, Kenya House of Prayer trains politicians and businessmen to apply biblical principles
in their leadership practices. Prayer coordinator Hudson Mukunza hopes to see Christians take a leadership
role in developing their communities. In Kenya, almost 70 percent of the population professes some form of
Christianity, but Mukunza says the church hasn't known how to effect lasting change. "The church in Africa
has isolated itself from the realities: dealing with AIDS, economic empowerment...Economic development is a
matter of...helping people do the most with what they have." In sub-Saharan Africa, where four out of five
residents live below the poverty line, Mukunza says it is difficult to get believers to reach out to help others.
The House of Prayer has collected food and clothes to distribute to neighboring Sudan and Mozambique. The
group is also hoping to send prayer teams "
http://www.csmonitor.com/1999/0923/p15s1.html from the September 23, 1999 edition Targeting cities with
'spiritual mapping,' prayer Jane Lampman, Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor, BOSTON
—"Can the 'spiritual DNA' of a community be altered?" That's the question posed in a Christian video called
"Transformations." Kenyan pastor Thomas Muthee is convinced that it can be. In 1988, he and his wife,
Margaret, were "called by God to Kiambu," a notorious, violence-ridden suburb of Nairobi and a "ministry
graveyard" for churches for years. They began six months of fervent prayer and research. Pondering the
message of Eph.6:12 ("For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world..."), they prayed to identify the source of
Kiambu's spiritual oppression, Mr. Muthee says. Their answer: the spirit of witchcraft. Their research into the
community revealed that a woman called "Mama Jane" ran a "divination clinic" frequented by the town's most
powerful people. After months of prayer, Muthee held a crusade that "brought about 200 people to Christ."
Their church in the basement of a grocery store was dubbed "The Prayer Cave," as members set up round-
the-clock intercession. Mama Jane counterattacked, he says, but eventually "the demonic influence - the
'principality' over Kiambu - was broken," and...these practices serve as a source of controversy. Among
evangelicals, some question how much of a biblical basis there is, and just how far such prayer should go.
"A lot of people in the conservative camp say Scripture is fairly unclear about how aggressive one is to be,
particularly in praying directly against demons or territorial spirits," says Jonathan Graf, editor of Pray!
magazine. "They say, 'Just pray to God.' But more charismatic believers say, 'Scripture says we have all
authority in Christ and can come against principalities and spirits, and we need to do that.' " Mapping is the
research tool - "the discipline of diagnosing the obstacles to revival," "Mapping is the research tool - "the
discipline of diagnosing the obstacles to revival," and it answers the questions: "What is wrong with my
community? Where did the problem come from? What can be done to change things?" says George Otis Jr.
Mr. Otis, president of The Sentinel Group, in Seattle, produced the "Transformations" video and has
written a handbook on mapping: "Informed Intercession: Transforming Your Community Through
Spiritual Mapping and Strategic Prayer." He has visited cities worldwide and offers pastors a road map,
including questions on the spiritual history and dynamics of their cities. They should gather, for example,
detailed information on the status of Christianity, prevailing "social bondages," historical events that
caused trauma, predominant philosophies and religions, and human groups and demonic powers
that pose spiritual opposition.""Otis points to vivid examples in the Americas: *In Hemet, Calif., a new
pastor began noting on a map sites where what he believed to be negative spiritual influences were located:
controversial religious centers, cults, youth gangs, and the West Coast's largest methamphetamine
manufacturing facilities. After years of research and targeted prayer, participants say, drug production has
been dramatically reduced and corrupt police have been fired, gang members have converted, the "power of
a demonic strongman" was broken, cults left town or were burned out, and Christians are in key
leadership positions." "Larry Showalter, pastor of Ruggles Baptist Church in Boston, is now
exploring mapping and spiritual warfare and says the ministers' group he prays with weekly
considers the spiritual dynamics of the city, though they haven't yet done systematic research. What
they've recognized, he says, includes a "rampant spirit of unbelief," which tends to be fostered in the area's
universities. "We would pray against that spirit, in the opposite way, for faith to rise up and to dominate," he
says. They also consider the social and religious history of the city. He hopes to revitalize The Boston
Prayer Foundation, a city-wide ministers group, which could pursue mapping and spiritual warfare
more vigorously." "Cause of controversy. While all evangelicals believe in the existence of demons, a great
many are uncomfortable with the emphasis placed on them in spiritual warfare and mapping. "When you
move into the area of why things occur in a city, some will say it's just social or economic or cultural trends,"
says Derrick Trimble, of the World Prayer Center. "Others will say that it has to do with demonic influences
over an area." "The church is coming to a level of spiritual understanding in the area of warfare that is more
mature than ... in perhaps several centuries," insists Glenn Sheppard, of International Prayer Ministries,
Conyers, Ga." "Russell Spittler, provost at Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, Calif., suggests that
the practices flourish most among Pentecostals "Pentecostals approach Scripture literally, so they see the
world populated with demons. It is not a far step to start naming them, assigning them territories,
devising prayer strategies. For Pentecostals, 'spiritual warfare' is not a metaphor - it's reality." Outside the
evangelical community, the discomfort rises quickly when prayer targets other religious groups with
the apparent aim of eliminating their influence and converting members. Otis has written in Pray!, "We
are not asking God to 'make' people Christians.... Such requests violate human free will.... What we are
appealing for is a level playing field, a temporary lifting of the spiritual blindness that prevents [people] from
processing truth...." Yet just two weeks ago, the Anti-Defamation League was outraged at the Southern
Baptist Convention's promotion of a prayer guide urging members to pray for the conversion of Jews
worldwide during the High Holy Days (see page 12)." "We are deeply offended," says Abraham Foxman,
ADL national director, "that it's done on the eve of the most holy period on the Jewish calendar - and then to
track and identify Jews by name! That means you target somebody by research." The impulse to convert is
natural to people of faith, says Martin Marty, of the Public Religion Project. "The offense comes in what
looks like the breaking of the rules of the game when you begin to target.... It's when you name a
proper name of someone devoted to God in a different way or even, you might say, to a different god,
that people get their backs up. In a sense, you're saying, 'We're not really at home with American pluralism' -
that sense that if we don't want holy wars, we do well to be respectful of each other." (c) Copyright

were of the Holy Spirit of God, it would be exercising spiritual discernment and calling for separation from
false prophets, apostate churches and unscriptural practices. It would also be exposing the false gospels and
other heresies taught by the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches, not joining with them in evangelism,
prayer or worship. For all of these reasons and many others like them, we sound this word of warning:
THE CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT IS DANGEROUS—WATCH OUT FOR IT!”
