LINEAR PROGRAMMING FORMULATION PROBLEMS 1. A 24hr supermarket has the following requirements for cashiers.

Variable costs of F1 and F2 are Rs 10 and Rs 20 per unit respectively while their monthly capacities are 250 and 400 units. Warehouse requirements at W1, W2 and W3 are pegged at 200,100 and 250 respectively. Formulate an LPP to decide about allocation. 3. Day Trader wants to invest a sum of money that would generate an annual yield of at least Rs 200000. Three stock groups are available: Blue Chips, Hi Tech and Speculative, with average yields of 12%, 20% and 40% respectively. The risk factors attached with these strips are 0%, 5% and 20% respectively. Risk signifies loss of yield to the extent of the percentage specified apart from loss of capital to the tune of half of the risk factor. What should be the minimum amount to be invested ? 4. A realtor is developing a rental housing and retail area. The housing area consists of TYPE 1,TYPE 2 and TYPE 3 homes which have a maximum demand of 500,300 and 200 respectively. TYPE 2 homes should be at least 50% of the sum of the other types. Retail space is proportionate to the no of home units at the rates of at least 10sft, 15sft and 18sft for the three types respectively. However land availability restricts retail space to not more than 10000sft.The monthly expected rental incomes from the three types of homes are Rs. 6000, 8000, 12000 respectively and the retail space rents at Rs 1000 per sft. Formulate this as an LPP to advise the realtor. 5. Two products are manufactured sequentially on two m/cs. The time available on each m/c is 8 hrs per day and may be increased by 4 hrs of overtime, if necessary, at an additional cost of Rs 1000 per hour. The table below gives the production rate on the two m/cs as well as the price per unit of the two Products.
