Victory Energy Economizers - Designed for the long run.

Duplex finned tube coils

Purpose
Energy costs are second only to raw material costs in the operation of dry mill ethanol plants. A large amount of thermal energy as steam is used during the process operations and integrating energy efficiencies by recovering more heat that is available is vital to lowering production costs.

Victory Energy is a leader in the design and manufacture of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) for ethanol plants. Steam is generated using energy from the hot flue gas exhaust from a Thermal Oxidizer. HRSG and plant thermal efficiencies are significantly improved by incorporating economizers to recover the heat that is still present in the HRSG exhaust. Challenging operating conditions have been responsible for reduced life expectancies of some economizers. Victory Energy has engineered a solution for this issue facing many HRSG owners by upgrading the metallurgy of the economizer coils that are subjected to the corrosive environment in the flue gas path. This solution will provide for long operational life and generate energy savings for many years.

Maximize Heat Recovery

Ethanol plant HRSG economizers are designed to maximize heat recovery and are typically arranged in three separate coils. Heat from the HRSG flue gas exhaust is used to first heat de-aerated boiler feed-water; Secondly the cook-water used in process operations is heated up in the cook-water economizer and finally the make-up feedwater is heated in the third coil, prior to being de-aerated.

Challenging Conditions
PRINCIPLE The make-up feed-water and cook-water are not de-aerated, i.e. they still contain dissolved oxygen. In addition the temperature of the water entering these coils is typically below the water dew-point of the flue gas. Equally if not more important is the fact that the flue gas has chlorides in it and in some cases even trace amounts of sulfur compounds. All of these contribute to corrosion risks due to: Oxygen pitting from the non de-aerated feed-water. Corrosive condensation from the flue gas. Chloride stress corrosion cracking. Acid corrosion from condensing sulfur compounds. Some ethanol plants have experienced corrosion issues with their economizers from one or more of these corrosion mechanisms and are operating without economizers, leading to fuel dollars being wasted up the stack.

Victory Energy Engineers can collect field data and provide optimized economizer designs.

Victory Energy has the Solution

Victory Energy has selected Duplex Stainless Steel as the ideal metallurgy for the make-up feed-water and cook-water coils. With its unique properties, Duplex pressure part construction can mitigate risks from all of these corrosion mechanisms. Victory Energy can provide replacement Duplex finned tube coils for quick field installation. Our field service department can re-tube your existing economizer, usually within three days, during your next scheduled outage. In some cases, entire shop assembled boxes or modules are available for quick and easy replacement. As plants are trying to maximize production and operating above design conditions, Victory Energy Engineers are available to collect field data and provide optimized alternative economizer designs to maximize heat recovery and increase profitability. Let our experts provide you with the best engineered solution to maximize heat recovery. Contact us at 1.877.783.2665 to see how we can help you.
