Physical attraction is all important in the dat-
ing game. at spark of interest in a delec-
table body part keeps the ames of passion
stoked in mature and loving relationships.
Visually, there are specic areas of the female
anatomy that men tend to focus on when
evaluating a womens level of attractiveness.
What body parts do men nd most attrac-
tive in a women? Ladies, if it is true that the
whole is the sum of its parts, then I am help-
ing you today in a very profound way. is
article will arm you with the most eective
exercises to tone your best assets.
Ive interviewed close to 200 men of
various ages, and now feel well-researched
in sharing this insight into which of your
lady-bits to pay even closer attention to the
next time you hit the gym. When asked to
answer which part of a womens body they
are most attracted to, most men answer the
eyes, the lips and the face in general. (I guess
that men really arent the Neanderthals we
thought, huh?) e other parts include...

A tight backside lead the pack as one of the
most adored female body parts.
How to get your gluteus to its maximus:
e single most eective exercise for this
body part is the Dead-lift. In a standing po-
sition, grasp a set of dumbbells and let them
hang in front of the thighs. Keeping your

at the waist, slowly
lean forward until
a stretch is felt in
the hamstrings, then
stand up contract-
ing your glutes as

sets. e Deep squat
(90 degrees or lower)
is another great exer-
cise to add to the mix
for the glutes.
Shape|y Legs (Quadrlceps]hamstrlngsj
Men love shapely, strong legs.
How to get them:
Try doing Lunges. Placing both hands
on your waist, take an exaggerated step
forward and lower your body to the point
where you have a 90-degree bend in both
legs. Return to the start position with an
exaggerated step backwards, repeat 15
times per leg take a
30-60 second break
and repeat 3 times.

size, but the presenta-
tion. e following ex-
ercises have a lifting
eect on your breasts.
How to tone the chest:
Try the Inclined
Chest Press. Lay on an
incline bench with a
dumbbell in each hand
and both arms at 90
degree angles at the el-
bows. Press the weight
upward and together
at the same time. Do
10-12 reps, rest for 30-
60 seconds, and repeat
three times. A great fol-
low up exercise is a Bent
over Row: Holding a dumbbell in each hand
hinge forward at the waist, while maintain-
ing a at back allow both weights to hang
downward, pull both weights up to chest
level and repeat 12-15 times. Rest for 30-
60 seconds. is strengthens the rhomboid

blades backward. It will also correct your
posture and will naturally push the chest up-
ward and forward.

Alright guys, you must know that we have a
thing for strong, well-shaped bodies. Maybe
you saw us peaking at your belt line as you
reached up high to grab something on the
top shelf, or eyeing your biceps as you peeled

women love a strong, healthy body because
it gives cues to our mammalian brain that we
are in the presence of a suitable mate. We also
like to see you strong because you like to see
yourself strong. Pega Ren, Ed.D., a woman

deltoids. Lean your right shoulder against
an exercise ball against the wall. Hold the
rest of the body straight, with your feet
open a little less than shoulder-width apart,
with the body at a 30-degree angle from the
oor. Hold a dumbbell in your left hand,
holding it below your right leg, palm facing

ders. Pause, then lower the weight down
slowly. Try three sets of 12 with each arm.
A Nlce 8utt
Men arent the only ones
that like something to
hold on to. Biologists and
psychologists say that we
are subconsciously drawn
to a curvaceous butt to
grasp and maneuver.
To build a bodacious butt:
Try one-legged squats
that isolate the smaller
gluteal muscles. Stand on
one leg with the other leg
out in front of your body,
so that the heel is
slightly o the oor.
Extend your arms
out to the sides
for balance. Bend
the supporting leg
to lower yourself
as far as you can.
Pause, then return
to the starting posi-
tion. Finish the set
with one leg before
repeating sets with the other leg. As the
exercise gets easier, try holding a 5- or 10-
pound dumbbell in each hand while you
squat. Do three sets of 10 repetitions on
each leg.
Try each of these exercises, for both men
and women, at least twice a week. By cou-
pling them with a well balanced diet, you
will help ensure that your body parts look
their best!

I recently had the invigorating
experience oF interviewing one oF
the most energetic, innovative and
seasoned gurus oF the personal-
ized Ftness training world. In this
enlivened interview with FitFngine
Magazine, Fdward explains why
most people Fail in their Ftness
goals, as well as the components
oF his patented exercise program
which allows people to succeed
according to their own individual-
ized needs.
kS Edward, why do most people fail with
their weight loss and tness goals?
Ej Research from the Centers for Disease
Control show that only 1 out of 10 Ameri-
cans is successful in working out on a regular
basis. Of those, 60% said that they would like
to exercise, but that they cant t it into to a
hectic lifestyle. In order to help people suc-
ceed in their tness goals, we must help them
to see visible results within thirty days. Oth-
erwise, most people become frustrated and
stop doing it. Listen, people are busy, and just
because you are exercising on a daily basis,
does not mean you are achieving tness. Be-
ing active and being t are not synonymous.
We have to make tness an eective and ef-
cient part of busy peoples lives.
kS What are the ingredients that make up
an eective tness program?
Ej You need the ve components of tness
to be part of any tness or weight loss pro-
gram in order for it to be eective. ese are
exibility, cardio eciency, muscle strength,
muscle endurance and proper muscle to
fat ratio. Add to those ve components the
four stages of working out warming up,
stretching, work load and cool down. en,
you must consider the persons individual-
ized body type. is includes taking into
account their lifestyle and nding ways to
integrate working out into each persons
unique environment. Each and every time
we exercise, in order to get the full benets,
we have to hit all ve components of tness.
is is the dierence between plain exercise
and true tness. ink about people who

jog. ey may be very active, but if they only
jog, they probably do not have very strong
core strength or upper body strength. ey
are t to jog, but not t to live. We have
to think in terms of being functionally t.
We have to think of how t we need to be
to get through the normal course of action
throughout the day.
kS What are the top tness fallacies?
Ej Most people simply dont know the ve
components. ey just go to the gym and
ail around, or they buy expensive work-
out equipment that they later use to dry
their laundry. People arent working out in
the specic individualized formats for their
body type. ey also arent working out hard
enough to combat the 3000 calories that
they are taking in daily. Burning 300 calories
is equal to one beer! Its one glass of wine!
Also, if you have big thighs and a Spoon
body, why are you doing squats? Trainers will
say, Oh, you are so strong in your thighs! But
you are not there to strengthen them, but to
reduce them. Dierent goals require dier-
ent training methods. ere is a big fallacy
with women who read tness articles about
muscle. ey think theyll burn more fat if
they add more muscle, and in theory this is
true. But adding muscle to become more
ecient in burning fat, thereby increasing
your metabolism, is much more complicated
than that. In order to reduce or trim down,
what they need to be doing is working on
burning fat versus building muscle through
both body type specic intense cardio and
muscle endurance-type training. By doing so,
it will give them a better ratio because they
have burned more fat.
ink about marathon runners, balleri-
nas, and swimmers. If the theory that you
need to lift weights to burn fat and have a
healthy body ratio were true, these athletes
would all be overweight. And they certainly
arent! When is the last time you saw a fat
marathon runner? And this is because they
are burning enough calories to stay thin.
Lifting weights is not the only way to pos-
sess a healthy body ratio or weight. Con-
sumers need more knowledge and power.
Its the intensity at which we exercise that
increases our metabolism. If your body

hasnt changed in thirty days, you need to
change. is is why people arent exercis-
ing. ey are frustrated that things arent
working. ey are choosing programs that
are inappropriate. If you want to motivate
people, have them engage in a program they
can maintain today, tomorrow, next week
and next year by educating them on the
components and phases of tness. Teach
them how to work for their body type and
get them to see a change and believe me,
theyll be motivated!
kS Why should employers be concerned about
helping to get and keep their employees t?

Ej Its all about energy, the ability to over-
come adversities, and possessing good self-
esteem. You wont nd a lot of low-energy
or unt people that are highly productive.
Good tness gives you more focus, and you
can achieve more. Your immune system is
stronger, you get fewer colds and you re-
cover from illness more quickly. You will
be less absent from work and strive to be
better each day. So, its a cycle. If you are
feeling bad and are not sound in body and
mind your energy will be down. If you
feel good, you will exude condence and
feel that you can conquer the world!

I live a double life. Both take place on mats,
but very dierent types. One mat involves
yelling, hitting, and messed up ears, while
the other mat is a time for introspection,
relaxation, and healing my body. In many
ways the two seem to be opposites, however
each aects how Being the manly men that
we all are we seem to spend the majority of
our tness time playing sports and lifting
weights. And why not? I for one love com-
petitive sports; basketball, soccer, hockey,
handball, whatever you throw at me.. Sim-
ply put, I like running, I like shouting and I
like winning.
So why am I writing about yoga? Well,
life needs to have balance. Just as you bal-
ance your workouts to increase cardiovas-
cular endurance, strength and (hopefully)
exibility, you should approach your life in
the same way. Yoga is an amazing compli-
ment to any level of tness bu. From the
couch potato, to the weekend warrior to the
high level athlete, all can benet from a yoga
practice. Simply put, its relaxing. And we
never seem to take time to relax any more.
e two biggest excuses used for not
starting yoga by men are Its for girls
and Im not exible enough. His-
torically, yoga was mainly taught and
practiced by men leaving only the
exibility defense. And claiming you
cant do yoga because youre too tight
is like saying you cant lift weights
because you are too weak. Instead,
you adjust the weights to what you
can do, just as you adjust your yoga
practice to suit your needs.
So step onto the mat; youve got
nothing to lose!

why you feel tired when

you are being exposed to
alternate currents that
bring imbalance to your

The electrical equipment

According to Nike research, running in-

Krauss, a Nike Elite Instructor. By insulat-
ing the sole from the ground with an athlet-

the natural function of the foot is impeded.

healthier before shoes were invented. Okay,
Im sold. But going barefoot is impractical
in most cases for safety and hygiene.
Fortunately there are many ways to gain
the benets of barefoot conditioning. Here
are some do-it-yourself barefoot condition-
ing tips:
Try barefoot workouts, like a Nia class
Move your feet like hands wiggling toes,
spreading the toes, grabbing as if picking
up pennies or scrunching a towel.
Every time you step, lead with your heel
and imagine your foot as the mouth of an
alligator opening.
Keep your ankles pliable and strong by
rising up onto the balls of your feet as if
reaching for something on a shelf, then
slowly lower your heels down.
Flex your feet and stretch your calves be-
fore getting out of bed especially help-
ful for plantar fasciitis (pain in the arch
and heel, acute in the morning).
Create a barefoot-friendly yard, preferably
without toxic chemicals. Take your feet for
a walk and be thrilled by the sensation of
grass, moss, sand, or smooth pebbles.
Refresh achy feet with a soak of Epsom
salts and essential oils of lavender or pep-
permint: cool soaks in hot weather; warm
soaks in cold weather.
Massage a few drops of sesame or al-
mond oil on the soles and toes before
bed a great way to enjoy quality time
with your feet.
Favoring an anti-inammatory diet may
help reduce arthritic pain: fresh fruits
and veggies, whole grains, wild Alaskan
salmon, ground ax seed and/or omega 3
supplements; avoid red meat and fried or
processed foods; drink pure water.
Wear shoes that allow the natural ex of
your arches, that dont pinch your toes or
shift weight to the forefoot
As much as we try to deny it, we human be-
ings are part of nature and not separate from
it. One of the simplest and most eective ways
of acknowledging this fact is to live in harmo-
ny with the seasons. And as we acknowledge
this fact, we are able to harness the abundant
energy and positivity in the universe to sup-
port our own energy.
Spring is quickly approaching, and ac-
cording to Chinese medicine, is the season
of birth, renewal, creativity, vision, and hope
for the future. We have made it through the
winter. e dormant trees have begun to
burst forth with a vibrancy and vitality that
is stunning and if we want to do the same
there are several simple things we can do to
sync up with the energy of the season.
As the light begins to return after the
long hard winter, we can rise a little earlier
in the morning. It is the perfect time of
year to get serious about exercise as well; it
is time to get our blood owing as the sap

Anythlng e|se we shou|d know about car-
pa| and cublta| tunne|?
Carpal tunnel and Cubital tunnel can be dis-
abling, and doctors tend to want to operate.
I suggest that people try alternative thera-
pies, massage, acupuncture, and occupational
therapy to try to relieve the pain and make it
tolerable to go about ones daily activities. An-
other cause of neck tension is everyones de-
pendence on Blackberry and iPhones. When
coupled with poor body mechanics, and long
hours at a desk Its all a big problem.

gence. Ayurveda explains that the process
of digestion begins the second the food hits
your tongue. Whether a food makes your
stomach turn or makes your mouth water
literally aects how nourishing it will be.
When we are in balance, we automatically
desire the foods that optimize our health.
However, when we become out of balance
in mind, body or spirit, our connection
to our bodys inner intelligence goes awry,
and we can start craving foods that put us
even more out of balance. ats when we
start reaching for the salsa even though our
acidic stomach is begging us to Just Say No,
or we take a third helping when were not
even hungry.
So what should I buy at the grocery
store to bring myself into balance?
Here are our top picks for how to get the

Strength train by working in with each
other between sets. While you rest, the
other partner lifts weights, and visa ver-
sa. A perfect way to strength-train in the
same time as you would alone.
Get outside. Have you ever thrown a
football together in the fall? Research
your local hikes. Go canoeing. Dig a gar-
den together. Take a walk around your
block after dinner instead of your usual
evening TV veg-out.
Try new things. Compromise. If your
partner is passionate about hip-hop
dance classes, try it! At least you will
both have a blast laughing at each oth-
ers dance moves. She or he will love your
more for the fact that you tried than your
ability to get down on the dance oor.

I really believe that people who are working
to make themselves look good, are more ca-
pable of doing good for other people. is
may be a stretch, but when you have people
focused, you can use that energy to focus on
worthwhile causes. In this sense, we can ac-
complish a great deal, says Ken.

in the trees is beginning to ow. Spring is
the season of the liver and is the perfect
time to support its detoxifying function. A
very simple way to do this is to eat an abun-
dance of fresh vegetables, especially dande-
lion leaves (lightly steamed or sauteed) and
plenty of garlic. Another very eective way
to support the liver and all of the other de-
toxifying organs is to visit an acupuncturist.
Acupuncture is tremendously eective at
harmonizing and improving the functions
of all the organs and can be a great way
to support you as you transition from the
quiet of winter to the creative outburst that
is spring.
At Body + Mind NYC, we have been
steadily developing techniques to
heal injured muscles and
alleviate repetitive stress problems.
We help you correct muscular
imbalances and heal the body by
using exercise and massage.
