InDIa With an impressive 20 nuclear power plants already in operation, and an equal number in the planning stage, India plans an impressive 26% of the electricity supply to the country by 2052 from the present 3%. cHIna With 13 nuclear power plants already in existence, and 26 under construction and 37 more in the planning stage, China is laying the foundation of a very strong energy infrastructure to support its growing economy. JaPan With a mammoth 55 reactors in operation, 2 under construction, and 12 more planned, Japan shall increase nuclear powers share of electricity from 30% to more than 40% within the next decade. SOutH KOrEa With a substantive 20 nuclear power plants in operation, 6 under construction and 6 more planned, South Korea has cornered a significant position for the nuclear power sector. MIDDLE EaSt With the UAe having taken a leap into the nuclear power sector by deciding to come up with its first nuclear power plant, the MENA countries too have evinced a serious interest in going the nuclear way for power generation. ruSSIa Having already erected a strong energy infrastructure with 32 nuclear reactors in operation, 10 under construction and 14 planned, nuclear contribution to the energy mix is growing bigger in Russia. uSa With 104 nuclear power plants in operation, and 1 under construction after 3 decades of lull, nuclear industry in showing signs of revival in the USA. auStraLIa Though the country is yet to enter the civil nuclear race, it offers a much bigger advantage in terms of the vast uranium reserves the continent down south houses, to fuel the engine of the nuclear industry in the other continents.

Training at Full-scale Nuclear Power Plant at Zwentendorf, austria

Austrias first nuclear power plant - the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant is a 700 MWe Boiling Water Reactor (BWR). It was relegated to the background in the late 70s due to the anti-nuclear wave. Today, it has come out of three decades of dormancy, and is reconnecting to the spirit of the times - the nuclear renaissance, and serving as the training ground for the nuclear industry professionals.

the International Setup: Zwentendorf nPP
Situated in the picturesque countryside of Tullnerfeld, with river Danube flowing nearby, the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant is just an hour long drive from the International Atomic energy Agency (IAeA) at Vienna. This is a rare opportunity to see, feel and experience a radiation-free nuclear power plant. WaLK-tHrOuGH You will get exposure particularly to those systems which are not accessible due to high temperature and radiation in a nuclear power plant in operation. Under expert guidance, you will undertake a walk-through to closely study the various systems and equipment: the primary system, the secondary system, and the instrumentation and control systems. SIMuLatED EMErGEncy ExErcISE Here, you will participate in a simulated emergency exercise which will help you to understand the elements of emergency planning and the actions to be carried out to mitigate the consequences of emergencies.
