About This Chapter

This describes CDMA2000 1xEV-DO test calls from the perspectives of principles, application scenarios, implementation, and observing methods. The CDMA2000 1xEV-DO test application protocol defines a set of regulations for minimal performance tests between the AN and AN. In addition, the protocol provides link-specific performance testing methods, forward testing applications, and reverse testing applications. 9.1 FTAP/FETAP Idle-State Handoff Rate Performance Test This describes the FTAP/FETAP idle-state handoff rate performance test, which is used to obtain the idle-state handoff rate. The FTAP idle-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the FETAP idle-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO A ATs. 9.2 FTAP/FETAP Connection-State Handoff Rate Performance Test in the Connection State This describes the FTAP/FETAP connection-state handoff rate performance test, which is used to obtain the connection-state handoff rate. The FTAP connection-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the FETAP connection-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO A ATs. 9.3 FTAP/FETAP Forward Channel Performance Test This describes the FTAP/FETAP forward channel performance test, which is used to obtain the forward throughput and reverse link quality. The FTAP forward channel performance test is used for the DO 0 AT, and the FETAP forward channel performance test is used for the DO A AT. 9.4 RTAP/RETAP Reverse Channel Performance Test This describes the RTAP/RETAP reverse channel performance test, which is used to obtain the reverse throughput and reverse link quality. The RTAP reverse channel performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the RETAP reverse channel performance test is used for DO A ATs. 9.5 FLUS This describes the Forward Link User Simulation (FLUS), which is used to simulate forward load. The current version of the FLUS is applicable to DO 0 ATs only.

9.1 FTAP/FETAP Idle-State Handoff Rate Performance Test

This describes the FTAP/FETAP idle-state handoff rate performance test, which is used to obtain the idle-state handoff rate. The FTAP idle-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the FETAP idle-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO A ATs.

Principle
After receiving the test start instruction, the AT measures the idle-state handoffs. When the subscriber stops the test, the periodic reporting timer expires, or the test period ends, the BSC requires the AT to report the measurement result and displays the result on the maintenance console in real time.

Application Scenario
The idle-state handoff rate is mainly used for coverage testing. The idle-state handoff rate and the idle-state handoff rate help you learn about the movement of the AT in the connection state.

Implementation
On the Service Maintenance System, choose cdma1X&EV-DO BSC Maintenance Tool Navigation Tree > Test Call State Monitoring, and then double-click FTAP: Idle State ASP Change Rate and CC PER or FETAP: Idle State ASP Change Rate and CC PER, and then enter the IMSI of the AT.

Observing Method
On the maintenance console, you can observe performance measurement items such as Active Set Handoff Rate in the Idle State [times/minute] and Control Channel Packet Error Rate in the Idle State [%].

9.2 FTAP/FETAP Connection-State Handoff Rate Performance Test in the Connection State
This describes the FTAP/FETAP connection-state handoff rate performance test, which is used to obtain the connection-state handoff rate. The FTAP connection-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the FETAP connection-state handoff rate performance test is used for DO A ATs.

Principle
After receiving the test start instruction, the AT measures the connection-state handoffs. When the subscriber stops the test, the periodic reporting timer expires, or the test period ends, the BSC requires the AT to report the measurement result and displays the result on the maintenance console in real time.

9.3 FTAP/FETAP Forward Channel Performance Test

This describes the FTAP/FETAP forward channel performance test, which is used to obtain the forward throughput and reverse link quality. The FTAP forward channel performance test is used for the DO 0 AT, and the FETAP forward channel performance test is used for the DO A AT.

Principle
After receiving the test start instruction, the AT measures the forward channel performance. When the subscriber stops the test, the periodic reporting timer expires, or the test period ends, the BSC requires the AT to report the measurement result and displays the result on the maintenance console in real time.

Observing Method
On the maintenance console, you can observe performance measurement items such as Sector Forward Throughput [kbps], Forward Link FER [%], and Reverse FER [%].

9.4 RTAP/RETAP Reverse Channel Performance Test

This describes the RTAP/RETAP reverse channel performance test, which is used to obtain the reverse throughput and reverse link quality. The RTAP reverse channel performance test is used for DO 0 ATs, and the RETAP reverse channel performance test is used for DO A ATs.

Principle
After receiving the test start instruction, the AT measures the reverse channel performance. When the subscriber stops the test, the periodic reporting timer expires, or the test period ends, the BSC requires the AT to report the measurement result and displays the result on the maintenance console in real time.

Application Scenario
The reverse channel performance test is mainly used to measure the reverse throughput and reverse link quality.

Implementation
On the Service Maintenance System, choose cdma1X&EV-DO BSC Maintenance Tool Navigation Tree > Test Call State Monitoring, and then double-click RTAP: Reverse Link Performance Tests or RETAP: Reverse Link Performance Tests, and then enter the IMSI of the AT.

Observing Method
On the maintenance console, you can observe performance measurement items such as Sector Reverse Throughput [kbps] and Reverse FER [%].

9.5 FLUS
This describes the Forward Link User Simulation (FLUS), which is used to simulate forward load. The current version of the FLUS is applicable to DO 0 ATs only.

Principle
The FLUS can be used to simulate the transmission rates of a group of forward subscribers. The FLUS is similar to the OCNS, which is used for the CDMA2000 1X system. In the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO system, the time division multiplexing and full-power transmission method is used. Therefore, simulating the load on the forward link is simulating the duty ratio of specific forward link timeslots.

Application Scenario
The FLUS is used to simulate forward load in the tests.

Implementation
You can start, stop, and query the FLUS by running commands on the service maintenance system.
