Today we all are gathered here to thank and show all those great people their importance in our

life and celebrate their day. The teachers play as a dynamic force in our lives. A college without teacher is just like a body without soul, a skeleton without blood and flesh and a shadow without substance. I hope you all will agree with me. 5th September i.e. today we celebrate the birthday of the IInd president of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a phenomenon teacher, philosopher, writer, orator, statesman, administrator and above all a great man as a teachers day all over the country. In India a teacher is best known as a Guru or as Sir/ Madam in todays age. The role and position of a teacher is so great and highly important that we have even a Sanskrit shlok to showcase it:Guru Brahma , Guru vishnu, Guru devo maheswara, Guru shakshat parabhrahma tatmaishree guruwe namah . The shlok simply describes the hindu mythology where the teachers are given the place and importance of god in ones life. If a person is blessed with a good teacher in life it is assumed that he/she can be assure of a happy and successful life in each and every aspect. This is what the power of guru in making ones life. Even if we see from astrological view point, there also guru is the symbol of planet Jupiter which is responsible for all the success in life and having a good guru and his blessing makes a life worth living. A teacher is the one who creates an enlightened human being. Teachers are responsible for shaping not just student but ignited youth who are the most powerful resource under the earth, on the earth and above the earth. A teacher is responsible for building capacities among the student to inquire, to innovate, be creative and build the capabilities of entrepreneurship and moral leadership. The noble life practiced by the teacher indeed becomes a beacon light to the students.

Teachers not only teach and impart knowledge to the student rather they also contribute a lot in national development by developing good characteristics and values in the youth of today. A teacher can trigger a thought, an assurance, a vision, a character and a way of life which can serve as the impetus for a students personal and professional growth.

Finally I would like to end my speech with a well known dhoha of saint Kabirguru gobin dau khade kake lagu paye, balihari guru aap ne govind diyo batai. This quote says that if a teacher and god both are standing who should be respected first. A teacher must be respected because he/she is the one who show us the path which leads to the ultimate supreme God.
