FLEX offers two powerful and cost-effective edge milling machines. Combined with a full range of FLEX WET grinding/milling bits for granite and marble, these tools enable professionals to create almost any desired edge shape.

The best way to imagine what an edge milling machine does, is to think of it as a "router for natural stones". The main difference lies in the composite of the bits. In order to work on stone you need diamond bits.

FLEX edge milling tools are highly productive specialized tools. They are equipped with powerful motors (11 AMP and 15 AMP motors), full wave electronics, infinitely adjustable speeds and feature pressure and temperature overload protection. Their portability gives the professional maximum flexibility.

Achieving the Perfect Edge

FLEX recommends the following process to get the best edge milling results:

Use the LW1509 WET grinder to "break the edges" of the slab. This means the professional uses a WET grinder with a diamond cup wheel and grinds away the edges to approximately the requested design. Bringing the edge into the approximate shape with a WET grinder, will reduce the wear and tear of the edge milling bits.

Replace the grinding bit from the edge milling machine with a milling bit. The milling bit is significantly finer and will deliver a much smoother edge. It is important to have a relatively fine edge prior to using the natural stone WET polishers (LW1503, LW603VR, LW1302AT or PLW903S). The smoother the edge, the less the wear will be on the diamond resin polishing pads.

Use the grinding bit with the edge milling machine (LWW2106VR or LWW1506VR) to transform the broken edge into the desired shape. The edge will however still be relatively coarse and will require fine grinding (milling) prior to polishing.

Polish the edge with a natural stone WET polisher and the appropriate diamond resin polishing pads. Always start with the 60 grit polishing pad and work through the polishing sequence until the requested luster is achieved.

NATURAL STONE

LWW2106VR is the "heavy duty" two handed edge milling machine from FLEX. It is designed to handle up to 1-3/4 thick granite slabs. This product is ideally suited for the edge milling of larger natural stone surfaces (counters, tables or double basin kitchen sink holes). LWW2106VR is a portable tool yet has the power of conventional stationary CNC machines.

LWW1506VR is the "smaller sibling". It is a single handed edge milling machine. The LWW1506VR is designed to handle up to 1-1/4 thick slabs. Because of its relative light weight, this product is ideally suited for the edge milling of smaller sink holes and fireplace mantle pieces.
