Outside Scholarships

Below is a list of scholarships applicable to MBA students organized by date as of March 2010. Scholarships without an available deadline date are listed at the end. The Robert A. Toigo Foundation Fellowship offers a stipend per year towards your tuition, in addition to networking and mentorship opportunities. Eligible applicants include US Citizens and permanent residents who are also racial minorities as defined by the US Department of Labor. Deadline is March 29, 2010. (http://www.toigofoundation.org/toigofoundation/home.htm) The National Italian American Foundation awards scholarships to Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement. The Government Finance Officers Association offers numerous scholarships to MBAs with a career interest in the efficient and productive investment of public funds in state and local government finance. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Below are the titles and amounts of the scholarships they list on their website. (http://www.gfoa.org/) The Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship awards $10,000. Application deadline is March 2010. The Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship awards $5,000. Deadline is March 2010. Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship awards $3,500. Application deadline is March 2010. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has two scholarships for graduate students pursuing studies in finance. The Minority Accounting Scholarship offers up to $5,000. Application deadline is March 2010. Candidates must currently be a member of the ICSC and have been actively employed in the shopping centre industry for a minimum of one year or have graduated from college/university in the 18 months prior to December 31, 2009. Application deadline is March 2010. The Financial Leadership Scholarships for Bay Area Women is a $10,000 scholarship for female students attending Bay Area universities or colleges pursuing a degree in business administration. Trimingham Master of Business Administration Scholarship is awarded annually. Its purpose is to provide financial support of $30,000 per annum over a period not exceeding two years to a Bermudian graduate student who is proceeding with MBA studies on a full time basis at a university outside Bermuda. The Scholarship is tenable at accredited institutions of higher

education approved by Bank of Bermuda Foundation. Application deadline is March 2010. Multiple scholarships are awarded each year. Deadline is March 21, 2010. (www.estudar.org.br) The Bank of America Merrill Lynch MBA Investment Banking Diversity Fellowship Program will award a merit-based fellowship to African American/Black, Hispanic or Latino, Alaskan Native/American Indian and female students entering business school in fall 2010. The fellowship will cover $35,000 of total tuition and fees for the first year of the MBA program. Contact the financial aid office for the applicant summary form to include with a resume, an essay of 500 words or less describing your career goals and their relation to the MBA Diversity Fellowship, a copy of one essay submitted to your business school application, and two letters of recommendation. Bank of America Merrill Lynch will provide a paid summer internship (between the first and second year of the MBA program) in Investment Banking. Upon successful completion of the Summer Associate Program and acceptance of a full-time offer for 2012, the fellowship will cover $35,000 of total tuition and fees for the second year of the MBA program. The Lynn Adamson Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Women Health Care Executives, a professional association dedicated to career advancement of women in health care offers a $4,000 scholarship to students currently enrolled in a graduate degree program. The American Australian Association awards up to $50,000 in fellowships to Australians for advancedresearch and study in the United States and also awards US fellows to pursue studies in Australia. Fellowships, up to $25,000, are awarded to outstanding Americans doing advanced research in Australia. Application deadline is April 15, 2010. (http://www.americanaustralian.org/education/) Markowski-Leach Scholarship Fund awards $1,250 to students who self identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer and attend either San Francisco State, Stanford University or UC Berkeley. Undergraduates and graduates are eligible. Selected candidates must demonstrate their dedication to excellence in their lives through service, education, or employment. Deadline is April 2010. (http://www.mlscholarships.org) Guru Gobind Singh Fellowship is intended for students from India and Pakistan pursuing graduate degrees at UC Berkeley. Student must be committed to returning to his/her country of origin after graduating and must not have engaged previously in graduate study at any other institution in the U.S. The fellowship will provide $30,000 for the academic year. Scholarship is two scholarship awards of $40,000 in total for a Russian or Ukrainian speaking admitted candidates to a Top 50 Global MBA program between the age of 25 to 35 years with not less than five years of relevant professional experience, clear career track, and significant achievements in the field of professional competency. The National Society of Hispanic MBAs offers $2,500-$10,000 in scholarships to student of at least half Hispanic heritage who are also U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents. NSHMBA membership required. Application period is from February 1 April 2010. (http://www.nshmba.org/scholarship/) Don Kuhn Memorial Scholarship Fund will support a $3,000 scholarship to a deserving graduate student with a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in non-profit/interactive marketing. The Korean American Scholarship awards numerous scholarships of $2,000 or more to Korean American college students across the country. Deadline is May 2010. (www.kasf.org) Sir John M. Templeton Fellowships Essay Contest encourages college students to study the meaning and significance of economic and personal liberty. Student applicants must be 35 years of age or younger. Student applicants may be either part-time or full-time students. Deadline to submit essays is May 2010. (http://www.independent.org/students/essay/guidelines.asp) HRC Foundation Generation Equality Scholarships will award three non-renewable $2,000 scholarship to LGBT and allied students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the fight for queer equality. The American Indian Graduate Center offers fellowships to Native American students who become eligible for need-based financial aid. Their Accenture Graduate Fellowship is for $15,000. Application to apply is June 2010. (http://www.aigc.com/) The Rising Farmworker Dream Fund (RFDF) offers an MBA Fellowship for sons and daughters of migrant/seasonal farm laborers ranging from $2,500-$5,000. Accenture will award scholarships to high-achieving American Indian and Alaska Native students. Application deadline is June 2010. Applicants must be active Phi Kappa Phi members. Deadline to apply is June 2010. (http://www.phikappaphi.org/Web) Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. - Unmet financial need scholarships are awarded to students who, in addition to good academic standing, need financial assistance in order to complete a particular program of study. Have completed a minimum of one year in a degree granting institution and be continuing their studies in such an institution. Application deadline is August 2010. Javits Fellowships Program of the U.S. Department of Education - Undergraduate students about to enter graduate school and graduate students who have not yet completed their first year of graduate study and who intend to pursue a doctoral or master's degree may apply. Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens or nationals, permanent residents of the U.S., or citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States. Deadline to apply is October 2010. (http://www.ed.gov/programs/jacobjavits/applicant.html) The Richard Metzler and Roland Berger Association of Management Consulting Firms Scholarship of $2,500 is for students who demonstrate a commitment to management consulting while pursuing their MBA. The Fulbright Scholarship offers awards to students who aim to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. Application deadline to apply is in October 2010. (http://www.iie.org/search.aspx?q=fulbright) Women in International Trade Northern California Scholarship Program will award $2,000 to one qualified student with career aspirations in the field of international trade, business or policy. Awards are granted without regard to gender, race, religion, color, creed, age, disability, citizenship or national origin. Application deadline is in October 2010. (http://www.wit-nc.com). The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers over $500,000 in funding to Scandinavians to undertake study or research programs in the United States for up to one year. Also, the ASF offers fellowships (up to $23,000) and grants (normally $5,000) to individuals to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian countries for up to one year. The 2010-2011 competition will open starting May 2009 and end November 2009. (www.amscan.org) The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a $20,000 maintenance grant and half of tuition for naturalized citizens or permanent residents who retain loyalty and a sense of commitment to their country of origin as well as to the United States and will continue to regard the United States as their principal residence and focus of national identity. Applications are due November 2009. (http://www.pdsoros.org/ ) The Harvey Fellows is a stipend amount of $16,000 per year, up to two years for incoming first year students. The fellowship is awarded to Christian graduate students attending a top five school to integrate their faith and vocation and pursue leadership positions in strategic fields where Christians tend to be underrepresented. The number of fellowships awarded each year varies according to available funds from the Mustard Seed Foundation. Brooker Scholarship provides tuition assistance to minority college students who plan to enter real estate management and make it their career. Applicants for the scholarship must demonstrate academic excellence. Graduate level awards are granted in amounts up to $5,000. Deadlines to apply are June 30 and December 31. Fellowships range from $2,000 to $12,000. Application deadline is December 2009. Application deadlines are December 2009 for a General College Scholarship and February 2010 for an Atrisco Heritage Foundation Scholarship. The Robert Toigo Foundation partnered with the Carlyle Group to develop this one year, three part rotation format. Application deadline is December 2009. women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented. Selected Professions Grants vary from $5,000 to $18,000. Application deadline is January 2010. The Lilly Reintegration Scholarship helps people with schizophrenia, related schizophrenia-spectrum disorders or bipolar disorder acquire educational and vocational skills necessary to reintegrate into society, secure jobs, regain their lives, and realize their full potential. The IACC Conference Center Industry Award provides a $5000 grant-in-aid to a deserving graduate or undergraduate student of hospitality. This award helps offset the growing cost of education, and it includes registration fees and accommodations at IACCs Annual Conference in the spring of the award year. IACC accepts nominations for this scholarship only from a dean, department head or faculty member at the candidate's school. Application deadline is January 2010. Deadline to apply is January 2010. (http://kosciuszkofoundation.org/EDScholarships_US_Tuition.html) The Dolores Zhorab Liebmann Fund award graduate school fellowships in any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or other professional training) for independent research and study grants. Applications must be submitted through the dean of the university where the student is pursuing graduate studies. Applications are available in October and are due January. (http://foundationcenter.org/grantmaker/liebmann/index.html) Santa Barbara County Scholarship Foundation - Applicants must have attended at least four of the six secondary grade school years at a Santa Barbara County school, and have graduated from a Santa Barbara County high school. The primary criteria for award selection are financial need, potential, and motivation. Application deadline is January 29, 2010. (http://www.sbscholarship.org/students_applicants_info.html) The Switzer Foundation has fellowships specifically for graduate students who are leaders committed to a career in environmental improvement. Fellowship provides a $15,000 one-year cash reward. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2010. (http://www.switzernetwork.org/fellowship-forms.html) The Point Foundation is a national scholarship fund for high achieving lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students in higher education. Application Deadline for the 2010-2011 academic year will be February 11, 2010. (http://www.thepointfoundation.org/) The Memorial Education Fund (MEF) and the Stuart Cameron and Margaret McCloud Memorial (SCMS) Scholarships are available to graduate students studying accounting or finance. The scholarships are awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and the application is available at (www.imanet.org/scholarships). Application deadline is February 15, 2010. The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation provides for the cost of tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees for the first year and second year of graduate study, with reimbursement for books and one round-trip travel. The HR Symposium Lynne Boone Memorial Scholarship Program awards scholarships to graduate students enrolled in Human Resource and Organizational Development degree programs, as well as professionals enrolled in MBA programs with the objective of advancing in the HR field. The scholarships consist of three master's level scholarships for $5,000 each, and the criteria for receiving the scholarships includes, but is not limited to: Academic excellence, work experience in HR, volunteer/extra-curricular activities and professional/faculty recommendations. Professional Leaders Project Academic Fellowship offers full tuition plus additional benefits and a Judaic studies curriculum to MBA students with an entrepreneurial nature and deep passion for building Jewish community, as well as a desire to achieve and set new standards of excellence. Upon graduation, PLP Fellows are expected to take an executive position within a U.S.-based Jewish organization for a minimum of 3 years. Application deadline is February 2010. In accepting the scholarship, the student makes a minimum two-year commitment to work in a federation in North America following their studies. Application is due February 2010. Upon graduation, PLP Fellows are expected to take an executive position within a U.S.-based Jewish organization for a minimum of 3 years. Application deadline is February 2010. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program provides opportunities for graduate professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan for one-year degree or two-year degree study in the United States. Deadline is November 2009. Through the program, Goldman Sachs offers 10 fellowships to students at ten firm wide graduate business schools annually.

The Nova Scholarship is awarded to Italian candidates who demonstrate academic and professional excellence. The $30,000 grant, co-financed by the Italian branch of the Boston Consulting Group, will be awarded for the 2 year MBA program to cover part of tuition and fees. (www.iefa.org) The Ling Scholarship is an award covering up to 1/3 of the tuition for Brazilian citizens studying business administration. Roberts Sr. Scholarship - $1000 Diversified Investment Advisors Leaders in Healthcare Scholarship - $5000 CFUW 1989 Ecole Polytechnic Commemorative Award commemorates the fourteen women students murdered at the Ecole Polytechnic in Montreal. For graduate studies in any field. Open to women of Canadian citizenship for graduate studies in any field. The candidate must justify the relevance of her work to women. Wilson Awards are awarded to women of Canadian citizenship for graduate studies in any field, with special consideration given to those returning to study after at least three years. The Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) Every year, the Agency provides several hundred fellowships for graduate studies and research. Fellowships are awarded to citizens or permanent residents of the OAS Member States. Fellowships are tenable in any of the member countries of the OAS, except in the country of origin or permanent residency of the candidate.
