Purpose of job: To ensure that British Councils role in investigating IELTS test results is carried out to the highest standard, and that outcomes are communicated to organisations which use IELTS test scores in timely manner. Context and environment: IELTS International English Language Testing System is jointly owned by British Council Cambridge ESOL and IDP IELTS Australia, delivering 1.5 million tests in 2010.The British Council delivers the IELTS test globally through a network of British Council offices and independent test centres. One of the key aspects of this test delivery is maintaining the security of IELTS results. In recent years we have seen an increase in the number of attempts to defeat IELTS security systems. As a result of this we are creating a post which has oversight of the more complex investigations into suspected fraud and malpractice. Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Managing and co-ordinating investigations relating to the verification of IELTS test results; this could include co-ordinating investigations into more complex cases which involve extensive liaison with test centres and existing IELTS regional managers and external stakeholders. Where appropriate, to obtain and analyse candidate results and participate in the regular checking of test scores as required. Establishing and maintaining a record of investigations To produce a monthly report for Global IELTS Manager, and IELTS Regional Managers, summarising progress on active investigations. Where required to conduct investigations in IELTS test centres in UK. Working closely with the IELTS stakeholder relations team to ensure that communication to organisations which use IELTS scores is timely and accurate at all times.
