EXECUTIVE SUMMERY
The report is prepared to determine the information system use in superstore Agora. We focused on the website they launch for their valued customers. Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. (RSL) made a breakthrough in the urban lifestyles by launching the first retail chain in the country, Agora. Currently there are four Agora outlets at Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Moghbazar and Mirpur in Dhaka. With many more coming up at important locations in Dhaka and other major cities, Agora is endeavoring to fulfill the everyday shopping needs of the urbanites through fair price, right assortment and best quality. While Agora mainly focuses on food items - ranging from a wide variety of fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, bakery, dairy, and grocery - it also carries a vast array of other household, grocery, personal care, and miscellaneous products. At any point in time, there are nearly 20,000 different products available at our stores.RSL is committed to sustaining and growing as the most trusted, loved, and frequented retail chain. To build on Rahimafrooz Superstores long tradition to enhance customer satisfaction, Agora launches their E-commerce website. With the continued support of their valued customers, Agora is now just a click away. Browsing through their website to find desired products and have them delivered to at home. By e-commerce, Agora hope to take the relationship with the customers one step further and be nearer to them at all times. Here we tried our level best to show the benefit of using website, problems they face in operating this website and provide suggestions for the improvement of their system.

INTRODUCTION with AGORA

The name of Agora is entwined with the glory of-the Agoras marketing policy to create a better environment for consumers. A man gifted with an inherent entrepreneurial sense, Late A. C. Abdur Rahim, the founder of Rahim-Afrooz started a trading house in 1973, which continued to expand in scope and nature as time went along. In 2000, Agora was introduced to the world. The success was immediate as there was a demand for such business in the local market. Agora's state-of-the-art technology and creative strategy gave it an edge ocher its competitors at local market. Agora is a Dhaka-based supermarket chain. It is the largest retailer, both by local sales and by domestic market share, and the largest retailer in Dhaka leaving behind PQS, Meena Bazar, Nandan Mega Shop, Pacific, Pick and Pay, Etc, Shop & Save and others. Originally specializing in food, it has moved into areas such as clothes, consumer electronics, and consumer financial services, selling and renting DVDs, compact discs and consumer telecom accessories. Agora Ltd. is an enterprise that combines industry and trade, mainly engages in retailing the quality products at the most lowest price in the market. The management of Agora, was an enthusiastic advocate of trading stamps as an inducement for shoppers to patronize their stores. They signed up with all types of quality products manufacturer, and became one of the companys largest clients. But the management was a fan of pile it high and sells it cheap, and in the mid-2000 Agora faced many cost problems associated with not properly integrating its purchased chains of stores. When the firm overstretched itself opening few more outlets throughout the city, management consultants were called in to sort out the mess. In 2001 Agora launched Operation Checkout, an across the board price cutting campaign aimed at countering the threat from the new breed of discounters such as Kwik Save. Facing the world and looking beyond, Agora will always maintain the pure-hearted, enterprising, quality and struggling spirit make efforts to scrupulously abide by their goodwill, create splendid future together in management vision of joint development, joint prosperity and mutual benefits!

Introduction with Information Systems Engineering and e-Business

Information system can be defined as an application of computing and communications technology to meet specific requirements. The purpose of information systems is to collect, process, store, transfer and disseminate information. The range of types of information system covers both hardware systems, with embedded software, and pure software systems. The users should have attributes like fitness for purpose, range of functionality, economy and efficiency, reliability, cost effectiveness, security and safety, and life cycle support. Information Systems Engineering is the application of engineering principles, founded on appropriate scientific and technological disciplines, to the creation, use and support of information systems for the solution of practical problems. The scope includes hardware components (such as processors, networks and interface devices) and software components (including operating systems software, information structure software, communications protocols and application software). It also includes the design, development and use of standards and tools essential for the engineering of information systems.
analytical applications serve to answer several key questions: y y y y y y y y Which customers are using the web site to conduct business with you? From where do your customers find you? Are specific web pages more helpful or visited more frequently than others? What products are purchased most? Are certain products being dropped more frequently from shopping carts? What questions do web customers ask most frequently during their self-service interactions? Which customers should you target for a specific marketing campaign? Which customers are likely to require an upgrade or complimentary product?

Introduction with the study Background of the study

Our topic was to determine The information system implanted by AGORA. Upon establishment AGORA is maintaining a web site. This web site provides information of product, location of every outlet, newly arrival product news etc. Since the site was static it is sometimes difficult and time consuming to update changes. The management of AGORA want to develop a dynamic site so that content of the site can be manages easily. Investigations are carried out on the current systems in place for advertisement, feedback, etc. These investigations are carried out by a questioning sesion with the Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. (RSL). managment. The findings of these investigations are recorded. This is an in-depth analysis to establish the environment and the exact business requirements in terms of a new system and the detailed description of the requirements. The information gathering activities associated with requirements analysis and existing system analysis carried out at the same time. An accurate and complete set of user requirements is produced to determine the characteristics of an acceptable solution.

The cause of the study:

To provide an exposure of the information system use in AGORA and facilitate an opportunity to implement theoretical knowledge in real corporate situation. To make a bridge between the theories and practices on real corporate world. To identify and describe the performance of information technology in activities. The topic is one of the interesting one among all other topics of this subject matter. Study and analyze how AGORA implement their information system in practice.

Scope of the study:

This report covers one of the information technologies AGORA is using. Related to this Agoras website becomes the prior objective. Agoras aim is to provide client with a web interface. This helps the administration to manipulate product (various food items) & other information. With this knowledge we will know how this system works in real business, what are the chances to make an organization more effective and efficient through this, and also get acquainted with the various technology support this. As this reason this report covers one of the essential IT function in AGORA. This report attempts to provide any suggestion regarding the daily web based activities of AGORA rather than only describe the observation. It is not easy to find proper information about the information system of Agora. We do not get detailed study about this topic. Although there was lack of updated sources

Issues in prevailing system

Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. (RSL) is currently keeping its stock and advertising system manually. Some computers and printers are used in certain areas but advertising & providing information to the customer is completely paper based. There is virtually no process in place for feedback from customers. The organization performs all its Operational procedure manually with the help of some pre-printed form. Existing software: Windows XP, Microsoft Office package Existing Hardware: Dual core configuration of some pc. Developing a website has some issues associated with it. Issues in such a project can be defined as unwanted event that has negative consequences. Two important characteristics of software project risks are uncertainty that the events characterized as risks may or may not happen. If the event happens , unwanted consequence or losses will occur. Followings are various issues that are likely to affect the dynamic website. These may include Technological Issues: Technological issues that constrain the current system- Dynamic website may not cope with certain technology (PC, web browser). - Adoptability with that particular organization - Technological constraint and cost. - The underlying technology on which the system is built supersede by the new one. - Hardware unavailability - Ease of operation Requirement change: - More changes to the orginisation requirement than innitially anticipated. - Specification analysis - User acceptance of the product - Market expansion - Delay of specification, case tools supporting People: There might be People who are involved within the organization may not tend to appreciate the dynamic website or there might be a change of management with different priorities. Others: Other risks associated with the project are- Stuff turnover - Product competition.

Proposed solution
The suggested technology is computer-based dynamic wbesite, for which hardware and software will be needed which will automate information, stock and advertising. Control of information by managment will be easier than ever before, management can get feedback from the customer & take approprite action according to the feed back. The Suggested technology uses hardware and software that is mostly used in corporate level and it will be possible to get any kind of troubleshooting assistance from vendors if it cant be overcome by the in house experts.

There are three strategies to counter with the issues identified and analyzed, which are:

Avoidance strategy in which system is build in a way that avoids some risk e.g. Choosing hardware that cope with the system and also available in the market. Minimizations strategies in wheich we minimize the chance of risk to occur e.g. Feasibility study should work through so that requirement is fulfill. Contingency plan it should be taken where there is a chance if risk to occur stuff turnover, product competition.

General project objectives

Assessing research that has been done on the problem, interviewing with stuff and the potential requirement of the management the general objectives of the project is stated below: - The system must cope with the procedural workflow. - A graphical user interface should be used along with option of using keyboard and in particular the interface should be uniform, flexible and easy to use. - The system should be automated as much as possible avoiding user intervention. - The system should not be unavailable due to any reason and should be stable. - Unauthorized access to the system must be avoided i.e. it should be secure.

2.4.4 Risk Monitoring:

Risks within the project will be monitored and assessed regularly according to its probability and seriousness of occurance.

2.4.5 Risk Neutrilization if possible:

In the case of an identified or unidentified risk occouring. Will it be possible for the risk to be neutrilised, so it does not occour again.

3 Feasibility Study
The innitial part of a website development project is to check & determine whether or not the project being concived is fisable. The main goal is to identify & define the best implementation solution for the project, if any, and justify why it is best. If the project makes proper sense then it has the points that it needs to argue in case the project is called into question. Feasibility study is done to decide whether or not the project in question will be cost-effective, attain the benefits that are expected, and be technically feasible. It is to be determined here whether the system can effectively meet the specified requirements of the particular organization and whether a business case exists for developing such a system. Feasibility Study is done under some criteria as technical feasibility, operational feasibility, economic feasibility and environmental feasibility.

Objective of the feasibility study:

To gather knowledge of the orginisation. To gather knowledge of the orginisation requirements for the project. Identify the benefit of the proposed project. Identify the cost and benefit of the proposed project. Identify grounds for improvement of the project. Estimate the dead line in which the project is to be finished.

3.1 Technical Feasibility

Technical feasibility is fundamentaly trying to answer the question "Can it actually be done?" There are two basic categories of issues that should be addressed by technical feasibility. Technological issuess: Where performance, ease of learning, ease of deployment, ease of support, interoperability with other key technology. Market issuess: Where vendor availability, alternative sources for the technology if any, third party support for the related product and services, level of support provided by the vendor play a key roll.

3.1.1 Existing technology

Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. (RSL) is currently keeping its stock and advertising system manually. Some computers and printers are used in certain areas but advertising & providing information to the customer is completely paper based. There is virtually no process in place for feedback from customers.

3.2 Economical feasibility:

The basic question that should be answered in economic geasibility is does the project make financial sense? The economic feasibility of an project should be assed before the begining of the project. Performing a cost/benefit analysis, which as its name suggests compares the full/real world costs of the project to its full/real world financial benefits. This should be evaluated on the basis of their contribution to net cash flow, the amount by which the benefits exceed the costs, because the primary objective of all investments is to improve overall organizational performance.

3.3 Operational Feasibility

Along with economic and technical sense a project must make operational sense to determine whether it is possible to maintain and support this project, once it is in implemented. Building a dynamic website is decidedly different than operating it, therefore it is need to determine whether or not the website can be effectively operated and supported. Operational feasibility concerned with the day-to-day operation of the website. Whether users (Admistrators) will be able to operate the website or additional training is required. Since the organization requirements are kept into account & operating the new website is relatively easy. The users (Admistrators) should have no problem in operating it. As a result it can be said a user-friendly. Moreover users (Adminstrators) can be given one to one instruction to operate the system. They will also be provided user manual for the website.

3.4 Environmental feasibility

Enviromental feasibility studies are done to make sure that the project under development is not contributing negitively to the enviroment, neither is the surround enviroment playing a negitive role in its development & useage. The usability of a system can be greatly affected by the environment in which it is used. An obvious illustration is that a particular screen layout and color scheme might be easy to use in a dimly lit office, but is impossible to view on a brightly light factory floor.

4. Analysis.
Analysis is done for understanding a project, both in detail what is done and in principal why it is done.

(RSL). managment. The findings of these investigations are record. This is an in-depth analysis to establish the environment and the exact business requirements in terms of a new system and the detailed description of the requirements. The information gathering activities associated with requirements analysis and existing system analysis carried out at the same time. At this stage an accurate and complete set of user requirements is produced to determine the characteristics of an acceptable solution. Various activities that are investigated at this stage regarding Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd (RSL) products & location & Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. Conclusion
From the above information of the information system implemented by AGORA we can say that some of the information system aspects are same as we learned in our MBA program, but in real life situation not everything resembles with the bookish theory and concepts. Some of the concepts are theory based and some are more practical in nature, which can be learned through practical experience only. Materials, people, system, tools, knowledge, equipment, processes, skill and attitudes all are input for any kind of production cycle in an organization. To increase productivity, growth and progress, effective and dynamic performance appraisal system of IT practice needs procedures that are essential. A quality IT practice and policies is the beginning of better performance. For that reason IT is most important among other practices of management. All organization needs a strong team to accomplish their goals and objectives. Without proper IT system it is too tough to build up dynamic working group and successive atmosphere for all tasks. We suggest to AGORA take necessary steps to develop the performance of IT system with more enthusiastic manner. At last, we want to say in a superstore the IT system is very important tool. Without this system it would be tough for the superstores to stay in the market and do business profitably.
