Acceptance Testing Of C-DOT ATM System

1. Scope: This EI describes the procedure for A/T of C-DOT ATM System 2. General: The C-DOT ATM system comprises a core Switch and a multiplexer which are similar in architecture. ATM is a high speed fixed size cell based protocol, and treats all the services in a similar manner. It supports ATM cell transfer over both SDH (STM-1) & PDH (E-3). Also, the same equipment is configurable to provide remote multiplexing or concentration function as the switch architecture provides the flexibility for different configurations. It separates out the application specific functions from the core switching and transport function. As a result new applications may be introduced easily as the need arises. Different non-ATM & E1 ATM interfaces can be supported easily through the use of ATM Multiplexer. The switch architecture supports distributed multi-processing environment, and provides scalable processing capacity, suitable for different applications. As standard interface is used for interconnecting different modules, the modules can be easily remoted from the core switch. ATM service is based on switching fixed length packets of data which are known as Cells. The details of various activities involved during A/T of this system are as given below: (A) PRELIMINARY TEST: 1-Check of Earth Internal Earth Resistance to be less than 0.5 ohms. External earth resistance to be better than 2.0 ohms. 2-Check of Floor Provision of Antistatic floor covering; Leveldifference to be within 5mm. Floor loading 600Kg/sq m (Ref:Item 2.2 ix & x of C-DOT A/T manual on C-DOT ATM switch & ATM Multiplexer) 3-Check of lighting & Power outlets Intensity of light to be >300 lumens. Provision of emergency lights. Availability of power points of rated capacity as per floor layout plan. (ref: Item 2.2 of C-DOT A/T manual on C-DOT ATM switch & ATM Multiplexer) 4-Check of documentation 3 sets of documents to be available as per list. (Ref: Item 2.1 of C-DOT A/T manual on C-DOT ATM switch & ATM Multiplexer) 5-Check of Air-conditioning Ensure test results within limits mentioned as per Test schedule. 6-L.A.R. From test equipment, test pattern injected into 1st port-2nd ASC and monitored from 2nd port-8th ASC. EFS and other parameter results to be observed for 72 hours. Annexure V Equip ASC & APC cards in Core switch and at least one ATC, ATU, ATS & APC card each in the multiplexer. Interconnect 2 NEs keeping same configuration in both NEs. For each Line card, create connection as: port1-CAM1 to port1-CAM2, port2-CAM1 to port2-CAM2 and so on till port1-CAM8 to port2-CAM8. Make physical loopback connections port2 to port3, port4 to port5, port6 to port7 and self loopback of port8. Load test started by connecting test equipment on port1-CAM1.
