Kites 2008

Who is it for?
Free-riders looking to boost their confidence with maximum versatility, huge wind range and direct bar sheeting with out the classic bow draw backs of heavy bar pressure, vague steering and poor unhooked performance. The Nobile 555 also features incredibly simple re-launch, superb ease of use and 4 line Hybrid simplicity to ensure your peace of mind in all conditions.

Why did we make it?

Massive wind range allowing a two (or even one) kite quiver is a goal for us all, but until now achieving this meant too many compromises. Our goal was to make a high de-power, easy to use kite that that still had good performance, but did not feature any of the drawbacks of some of the bow kites on the market.

How did we do it?

We kept the same Natural Arc we developed for the NHP. However, to enhance the range of the 555 we used a 4 line SLE (Supported Leading Edge) Hybrid configuration. With careful placement of the bridle attachment points and some modification to its normal configuration we created a kite that delivers outstanding power range, clean and precise handling and fast, easy re-launch. Huge air comes as standard with the 555 along with unparalleled, direct, confidence inspiring handling the perfect blend for free-ride use.

Key points
4 line simplicity Huge range.awesome power yet massive de-power Intuitive, fast re-launch Huge lift and hang time Controlled turning with a comfortable blend between axial and pivotal movement Super stable gusty wind performance Natural Arc Shaping with SLE Hybrid form. Kites 2008
Who is it for?
Unhooked riding, new or old school freestyle and riders that still like the classic C shape feeling but want real levels of de-power. If you still yearn for the feeling of a classic C, but value the benefits the flatter kites have to offer, you will feel instantly at home on the NHP kite.

Why did we make it?

We started with a concept, why cant we have a kite that features all the good parts of a C shape ;fast, direct and axial turning with positive, but not hard bar pressure, great unhooked performance and fantastic lift, yet still exhibiting the benefits of a flatter kite with massive de-power, great ease of use and gust proof power delivery? With this goal in mind the NHP (Nobile High Performance) 666 was born.

How did we do it?

Even from a distance you can see this kite is different, 5 line performance is enhanced with multiple leading edge attachments and our Natural arc technology. The split lead line attachments allow the centre of effort of the kite to move forwards when de-powering offering near bow levels of de-power. However, by keeping the no pulley, direct rear line attachments the bar pressure is not only light, but incredibly responsive with constant feedback. If you still yearn for the feeling of a classic C, but value the benefits the flatter kites have to offer, you will feel instantly at home on the NHP. By designing every size individually, adjusting the attachment points and arc geometry for each size we created a constant feel across the range not often found in other brand ranges.

Nobile SMART Pump System

Kites 2008

The remarkable SMART (Single-point, Multiple-valve, Air-distribution with Removable Tubes) pump system uses uniquely designed, removable, connective tube sections between individual bladders. Each tube end has a male connector designed to t into a standard bladder valve, making the entire system modular and interchangeable. This has a number of advantages over the standard central point in ation systems; - It enables the rider to remove the SMART system entirely, using standard bladder stoppers in every connective bladder valve; e ectively making the kite standard multi point in ation. - In the event of individual bladder failure any replacement bladder of appropriate size can be inserted into the kite and re connected to the SMART pump system, so long as it features the standard size in ation valve. This enables you to x the kite using non-speci c bladders should you need to e ect an emergency repair. - If any part of the connective system should fail the a ected part can be isolated and removed. SMART has been designed to be extremely durable, with rigourous testing in a variety of di erent climates, yet it is the modular system that makes it so unique. Each Nobile kite is supplied with appropriate replacement valve stoppers, the same style and size as used in the majority of the modern

kite production

1 Full Contact Strut Connection All the struts on each model are constructed independently and then attached to the leading edge with a full wrap of webbing. This maintains the stability of the kites pro le and also spreads the pressure to avoid material failure under high load. An extra parallel webbing strip runs from the strut around the leading edge to further increases strength and durability

Kite Construction and Technology

2 LE/Canopy Bumpers The leading edge canopy seams are protected by 3-layer bumpers. Super durable mesh is sandwiched between two layers of insignia tape giving a very strong, but lightweight protection against abrasions and crashes. The leading edge is a very weight sensitive area and these bumpers are as light as possible whilst still o ering adequate protection, thus reducing any added tendency to nose stall the kite.

Kites 2008
12 Kevlar Leading Edge Protection The high abrasion areas at the ends of the leading edge, struts and on the canopy above the struts are re enforced with Kevlar patches making them super scu resistant

11 Cordura Strut ends Super durable strut ends are essential to resist abrasion and protect the strut ends. Cordura is one of the most abrasion materials available 3 EVA Canopy Protector We place an EVA foam layer on the underside of the canopy to protect it from the wear that can result in it rubbing against the upper side of the strut

10 Webbing Wing Tip Protection A small webbing tape extends around the end of the wing tip and into the LE to protect the kite against abrasions and prevent exposed seams in this area

9 4
4 Leading Edge Attachment Points The leading edge bridle attachment points are re enforced with Insignia tape inside the leading edge, whilst the webbing is sandwiched between a double layers of Dacron on the outside. The entire patch is then triple stitched

8 5 10

9 Triple Stitched Strut Seam Seams on the struts are rst taped together using Insignia tape, straight stitched along the seam and then the aps are folded out and triple stitched on either side. This provides the strongest seam possible in these important high load areas

5 Leading Edge Wing Tip Seam Bumpers The seams in the leading edge at the wing tips are protected by the same design of triple layer bumper used on the canopy above the struts. The seams in this area are vulnerable to wear however heavy duty protection will have an adverse e ect on the kites handling

6 Canopy Seams The canopy seams are taped, overlaid then triple stitched. This type of seam allows accurate stitching of the canopy even in complicated areas

8 Dacron Protection Strip on LE/Canopy Connection A 5cm strip of Dacron between the canopy and leading edge connection protects the kite against abrasions in this vulnerable area. In the event of damage close to the leading edge, it is not necessary to open the leading edge to x the canopy making repairs that much easier

7 Double Layer Trailing Edge The double layer of ripstop on the trailing edge reduces the possibility of the material stretching over time. This is a superior solution than using Dacron, which is heavier and can cause failure where the two di erent materials meet

1 Low Stress Leading Edge Seams Many brands feature straight stitched seams on the leading edge. On Nobile kites, the lower stress leading edge seams are taped on both sides with insignia tape, overlapped and then xed with parallel lines of triple stitch. The result is a atter seam, using less material, which makes it easier to close and stitch the seams more accurately

Kite Construction and Technology

Kites 2008
12 Higher Stress Leading Edge Seams At points with a greater angle (and thus higher stress) in the leading edge, the seams are joined with insignia tape, single stitched through the middle and then triple stitched on each side of this to ensure very strong seams in this high stress areas

2 Leading Edge Seam Taping Unlike on conventional designs, we have stitched a webbing re enforcement OVER the normal LE seam preventing it from stretching over time (which leads to seam failure under high in ation pressures) and also protects the seam against abrasion

3 Trailing Edge Seam Protector Shaped dacron patches are placed over the seams on the trailing edge to increase scu protection in this exposed area. Reduced utter of the trailing edge is an additional bene t

11 Ronstan Pulleys The Ronstan pulleys used in the kite brindles have a breaking strain of over 500kg and have the best ratio of weight/strength/longevity available

4 Self Rescue Handles The self rescue handles allow the rider to control the kite and body drag themselves back to beach in the event that the kite is no longer able to y

10 Re enforced Valve Areas High in ation pressures mean the valve areas in both the leading edge and the struts must be re enforced. Applying insignia tape internally and then single stitching it ensures no failure in these areas

5 Double Layer Daron Wingtips The elongated ying line attachment points are sandwiched between a double layer of Dacron give the wing tips maximum strength and durability

6 Re enforced Bridle Line By re enforcing the brindle line through the pulleys we can increase the life expectancy of the line in this high wear area. Bridle failure can cause loss of control of the kite at critical moments and put the rider in serious danger

9 Bridle De ector Bridles and ying lines can catch around the end of the leading edge during launching causing the kite to pull dangerously to one side. Protectors that are too soft bend and still allow the lines to catch. Our brindle de ectors are sti preventing this possibility and eliminating a potential cause of accidents

7 Strut to Canopy Re enforcement Tape Wide Insignia tape is placed on the seams between the canopy and struts preventing the canopy from rubbing and wearing on the struts. Furthermore, in the event of a tear near the strut, the canopy can be repaired without the need to remove the strut

8 Single Joint Strut Construction. Our canopy seams are accurately cut to maintain the designed pro le. This means the struts are employed to solely to maintain the rigidity of the pro le and not to maintain the exact shape. When controlled by the pressure of the strut the pro le can change due to the laws of in ation (which states the more pressure applied to any in ated object to closer it comes to spherical). Reducing the number of seams also decreases the possibilities of material failure
