My commitment in serving my country would only be limited if I have to kill innocent people and deceive people. I am willing to do anything to help my country but I cannot kill people thinking that it will make my country superior, it is not right. That will be my commitment when I become an adult. I am still a student so I can only volunteer myself to different organizations that handle community services. I can teach street children and help clean the environment through the projects established by different organizations. Our class watched two clips which are No story is worth dying for and From Iraq with love. The clips are Howies experience in the field of news reporting. In the first clip they went to Mindanao to cover the war between the Philippines soldiers and revolutionaries. Howie bravely reported the situation of the war in Mindanao. Apparently the situation became extremely dangerous that all of the reporters left the area. Reporting the situation in Mindanao is a benefit for the public since information is achieved by the Filipinos from different locations of the Philippines. With the public service that Howie is doing people are informed about the situation that is happening to our country. By means of this information people can act according to the news that was reported. In the second clip Howie went to Iraq a few weeks before the war starts. He visited the Filipinos that did not flee from Iraq and he explored Iraq as well. He interviewed them and asked about their families. After his journey he went back to the Philippines and searched for the relatives of Filipinos from Iraq. By doing such things, my perspective of Iraq changed because the clip showed that Iraqis are kind people and they treat Filipinos without prejudice. Also I am touched by the effort Howie exerted to deliver letter and things to the Filipinos families. Knowing this means that all the people that watched it understood the value of the clip. The relatives of the Filipinos from Iraq were somehow updated about their situation there despite the war that will occur.
