(Please note: Step 1 is important in order to link the previous knowledge with what is to be learnt.)

Step 2: The teacher will chose two students to give their definition of the persuasive technique repetition. Their responses will be written on the blackboard. The teacher will issue handouts depicting a formal definition of the term repetition. The teacher will first read aloud what is on the handout and then the entire class will read aloud what is on the handout. The students responses will be compared to the formal definition. As a result, the students will see that there are more than one definition for the term.

Step 3: The teacher will instruct the students to write in their notebooks one reason why they believe writers use repetition as a technique to persuade someone. Afterwards, the teacher will take several students responses and the class will explore the responses to arrive at various reasons such as emphasis, to appeal to a persons emotions or to convince. Step4: The teacher will issue copies of an advertisement called, Tiger Chocolates. The teacher will ask the students to identify and underline the repetition in the advertisement and

comment on the effectiveness of the repetition. Afterwards, the class will explore their feelings toward the advertisement and whether they are persuaded to buy Tiger Chocolates.

Evaluation 1: The teacher will instruct the students to work in groups of three and use the picture assigned to them to write a brief advertisement which must include repetition. At least one group must present before the end of the class.
