Dear Sir & Madam: The Philippine Nursing Research Society, Inc. is hosting a series of lecture by Dr. DaiWai Olson from the Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina. Dr. Palaganas was able to personally invite Dr. Olson last June, 2011 after attending a conference with Hon. Amelia Rosales, Hon. Yolanda Arugay and Dr. Carmelita Divinagracia in Harvard University in Boston last May-June 2011. Ms. Irene Abella (SLU-SN Alumna) facilitated the meeting. Nurses across the globe are continually engaged in learning and sharing. Unique challenges and opportunities amongst nurses from differing countries have allowed for the expansion of ideas at an ever increasing rate. Nurses are challenged to develop the nursing profession in parallel to changes in medical care. Our physician colleagues have developed broad international collaborations; so too, must the nursing leadership. International collaboration provides both temporal and spatial benefits to all participants. First and foremost, collaborations allow nurses to learn from each other. Nurses have always been innovators, and new medical treatments have driven the need for new nursing innovations. Unfortunately, one must admit that nurses have not always taken credit for their innovations, nor have they found the venues to broadly share these ideas. Collaboration also provides for resource sharing; both the physical resources associated with direct patient care and nursing education and the resources associated with collaborative thinking. The purpose of this lecture series is two-fold. Primarily, this project will provide an 8hour seminar at distinct cities in the Philippines. This Seminar entitled: Nueuroscience and Nursing Research, will cover current and developing paradigms of neuroscience nursing care and nursing research. The secondary aim of this lecture series is to provide the venue for Dr. Olson to develop relationships with key faculty members at Schools/Colleges of Nursing within the Philippines in the hope of promoting collaborative nursing research projects.

The one-day seminar will cover the following topics: Neuroscience nursing: 1. The nursing assessment in acute neurologic injury 2. Correlational neuro-anatomy

Neuroscience Nursing Research 3. Evidence-based practice and neuroscience; application of nursing research to the practice of neuroscience 4. Examples of nursing research in Neuroscience. Dr. Olson is willing to have post-seminar meetings with groups interested to establish links/network with him and his organization, Duke University Hospital and College of Nursing, North Carolina, USA. The Society has the pleasure to invite you, your faculty and/or staff and graduating students on February 12, 2011, at the Brokenshire Resort & Convention Center from 8am-5pm.
