Course Instructor

Wayne DeFeo has over 20 years of experience in both government and the private sector, guiding solid waste hauler deregulation and negotiating solid waste and recycling contracts.

Schools are considered one of the last frontiers of recycling. Each day, students and administrators alike generate huge amounts of recyclables that are not nding their way into the recycling stream. In addition to an environmental failing, having these commodities hauled away as solid waste in this day of ever tightening budgets is a practice which needs to be addressed and reversed in short order. Students who see a strong recycling presence at school will likely bring that message home and help to increase recycling participation in the community. On May 2, 2012, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, in cooperation with the Rutgers-NJAES Oce of Continuing Professional Education is oering a workshop that will give participants the insights and skills needed to address this vexing problem.
