According to a 2011 Nanos poll almost 90% of Canadians support public solutions to health care problems in the health care system. So why has there been so much discussion of private sector involvement in the future of health care delivery in Canada? .....medicare spending hospitals and physicians services has fluctuated between 4 per cent and 5 per cent of gross domestic product since 1975. Lack of health insurance is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the United States and 45 million people lack insurance there. Health care insurance in America costs twice as much per person as it does in Canada. Lets not go in this direction! While there are many challenges within Canadas health system, studies continue to show that public health care is more efficient, cost effective, and better for patients health than any private model. The solutions to Canadas health care problems can be achieved within the public system. Wait times, which have been an issue in Canada, are mostly as a by-product of underfunding, doctor shortages, and the lack of a coordinated approach to wait lists. There are many examples that show how wait times can be fixed in the public system. Council for Canadians We need the Federal government to support a strengthened Public Health Care system based on the principals of the Canada Health Act. Tell your MP and MPP that you support Public Health Care and that profit is not the answer. Say No to for-profit operators.
