Kerr ENG1D1 Wednesday, December 14 2011 Expeditiousness Bang I don't know why it is we are in such a hurry to get up when we fall down. You might think we would lie there and rest for a while. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play where haste a big major in the production. The major impact in Romeo and Juliet has compose big problems throughout the plot of the story. The haste in Romeo and Juliet is everyone. For example where Romeo is desperately mourning over Rosaline and then the next day he was all head over heels of Juliet. Another example would be how Romeo wanted to marry Juliet so quickly. The day after they met they wanted to marry each other. Haste negatively impacts the play because it causes death, fighting and bad timing. Firstly haste negativity impacts the play by causing death. Juliet is showing the readers how she would like to die; she buys herself a poison which would activate as something which would make her seem fractional liquidated. O bid me leap, rather than marry Paris/, from off the battlements of any tower,/ or walk in thievish ways or bid me lure, where serpents are. (IV, I, 78-81) This is a quote said by famous Juliet. In this quote haste is shown negatively by Juliet urgently requesting to get a drink which would make her half dead. Haste is shown by quickly getting dead. Maybe she could have

Kalsi 2 tried the wedding and later divorce Paris or Juliet could have just ran away instead of reverse psychology. Juliet has used this by making everyone think she was dead instead of faking it. There would have been a lot of consequences involved by this. When people find out, a lot of people would like to live without her. This is shown by a negativity impact because it is ruining lives of people. Another point which causes death in romeo and Juliet is when Romeo shows death by buying poison that would kill him instantly. After hearing the news that Juliet is dead by Balthsar. Romeo goes to the apothecary to buy illegal poison. I sell thee poison, thou hast sold me none./ Farewell buy food and get thyself in flesh.come/ cordial and not poison go with me. /To Juliets grave for there must I use thee. (V,I,86-89) This quote is said by Romeo. Haste connects negatively in this quote by Romeo rushing to buy the poison. Romeo did not even think about the consequences about what would happen about he had one slip of that drink. The bad impact shows negative point about how this was rushed. By Romeo rushing to die, he does not know that Juliet is still alive. Romeo did not know that after he had killed himself, others maybe would have killed themselves from hearing this tragic news. As a result haste had bad consequences by causing the death of Romeo and Juliet. Secondly haste creates bad impact throughout Romeo and Juliet by having fights. The night of the party, Tybalt challenges Romeo in a battle, but it did not happen because Capulet had said Romeo was a nice boy. Whenever they had met again that is when they had started to fight but the Montagues had backed down because they did not want to fight with the Capulets. But Tybalt puts up his sword to aim at Romeo

Kalsi 3 however mercutio wanted to save his friend and he came between both of them, which Tybalt stabbed Mercutio. that I mean to make bold withal,/ and as you shall use me hereafter dry beat the rest of the eight /will you pluck your sword out of this pilcher by the ears?/ Make haste lest mine be about your ears ere it be out. ( III, I, 72-75) this quote is used by mercutio. Haste creates negative impact by fighting quickly instead of talking things over. Just because Romeo attended a party which he was not invited to. Even though Romeo had said that he did not want to fight but Tybalt strikes first, which caused mercutio to die from saving Romeo. This was haste by urgently doing something without thinking of the consequences. Another reason why a fight was a major impact was when Romeo comes out to the tomb of the Capulets to see Juliets. But he did not realize that Paris was also there. Paris had thought that Romeo was going to vandalize Juliets tomb therefore Paris had thought he had to kill Romeo. stop thy unhallowed toil, vile montague./ Can vengeance be pursud father than death condemned villain I do apprenhend thee./ Obey and go with me, for thou must die. (V,III 54-57, said by Paris). The problem here has created a negativity impact by arriving at the point quickly. This had then made a fight scene. Paris had just thought Romeo was a bad guy and just fought him. Romeo didnt even know who this guy was who was attacking him and fought him back for self defense. This had caused haste by running into conclusion quickly. Consequently due to the fact fighting was a bad impact which haste had caused. Finally the last negative impact haste has caused is bad timing. Juliet has confessed she will marry Paris, which would have been on Thursday but her parents

Kalsi 4 had rushed the wedding to be moved Wednesday morning. no not till Thursday. There is time enough. go nurse go with here. Well to church tomorrow.( IV,II, 36-37, Lord Capulet.). This quote negatively connects to haste by rushing into the wedding of Paris and Juliet. If lord Capulet didnt rush the wedding the wedding maybe something could have been done to end it. The bad timing was lord Capulet had rushed the meeting between Juliet and Paris. They didnt even have a conversation. Another factor which caused bad timing is when Friar Lawrence plan starting falling apart. The message did not get to Romeo about Juliets death as it was expected. The friar john had to send it but searchers were out and they wouldnt let anyone in or out. I could not send it-here it is again-nor get a messenger to bring it thee/, so fearful were they of infection (V,II,13-16- Friar John). This quote by friar john indicated this plan by Friar Lawrence has failed. Maybe if friar Lawrence thought of the consequences about what would happen if the plan did not work. In this case Romeo now will not get the message about his Juliet waiting for him. Romeo as well may get the wrong message about her actually dying. Romeo would may have done something bad to himself as he was in love with Juliet. This has caused bad impact to the time line of Romeo and Juliet by rushing into conclusion early. Accordingly due to the plot of the story of Romeo and Juliet haste had made bad timing into a tragic story. In Romeo and Juliet haste has shown unconventional effect throughout the plot of the play. The cause it makes are death, brawl and bad timing. In body paragraph 1, it states that haste had caused death by Romeo rushing to buy poison to kill himself and Juliet urgently requesting to buy a drink which would make her half dead. In body

Kalsi 5 paragraph 2 haste had been controlled by fights. These fight had been started quickly without things would what would happen. Lastly in body paragraph 3 haste had come alive by bad timing. Lord Capulet had rushed the wedding of Juliet and Paris even more and friar Lawrence plan not working which leads to the consequences. The story itself was haste by the setting taking place in a period of five days. I don't know why it is we are in such a hurry to get up when we fall down. You might think we would lie there and rest for a while this was a quote written by Max Eastman expressing his feeling towards haste. This quote means that when something bad happens, there is no reason why we should be so eager to get back up and realize what we have done.
