20 Ways to Get Good Karma

Instructions for Life by The Dalai Lama

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. 2. When you lose, dont lose the lesson. 3. Follow the three Rs: - Respect for self, - Respect for others and - Responsibility for all your actions. 4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. 5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. 6. Dont let a little dispute injure a great relationship. 7. When you realize youve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. 8. Spend some time alone every day. 9. Open your arms to change, but dont let go of your values. 10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. 11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, youll be able to enjoy it a second time. 12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. 13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Dont bring up the past. 14. Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality. 15. Be gentle with the earth. 16. Once a year, go someplace youve never been before. 17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. 18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. 19. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. 20. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. People don't always recieve the full reward for the good they do in this life. Some times they don't recieve their reward until the afterlife. People don't always recieve punishment for their misdeeds until the afterlife. I think of creating good karma being similar to investing in good relationships or putting money in the bank. Your intentions and thoughts are important with karma. Spiritually, thoughts are powerful things. I believe that we develop compassion and empathy in life from various experiences. As a Muslim I am not suppose to change faith and only to put my faith to Allah. However, I have not been able to relate to Islam very much even though Islam is simple and true just as other religion is, but am able to relate to Buddhism. I am healthy (praise the Al Mighty), but never really had peace of mind. At time I don't know if I am going or coming, sitting or walking. My mind works on overdrive thinking of things that are sometimes irrelevant. Since these couple of years I have been thinking of making an audience to meet you in person. Will that be possible? Will you be able to guide me please? I need help in knowing who I really am and what is my purpose in life. I have managed to help others, but never could help myself. I am sad on the inside, but have always managed to hide so that others will not see me in my true self. Please help me.
