https://support.aspdotnetstorefront.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticl e&kbarticleid=100 * Upgrade Procedure & Sequence: 1) Make full backup of your database. 2) Make full backup of your web site (every file). 3) Upgrade your database using ONE of the provided upgrade scripts in /db direc tory 4) If you are upgrading from a version prior to v6.2.0.0, you must also remove the IIS Application Context from your /admin directory. 5) Delete ALL files from your web site (remember, you have already made a copy of them in step 2!) This is important step. You cannot leave older files laying around now, or y our site may not work properly 6) Copy the new master release files from /web to your web site 7) Copy back now your own files for each of these directories (overwriting our files if needed, so yours take priorit) a) /images b) skins 8) copy any custom /XmlPackages you had back into /XmlPackages 9) Re-edit your /web.config file and put back your prior DBConn String and Encr yptKey values. These must stay the same as your existing site values. You can then later change your EncryptKey values periodically in the new 8.0 admin site! 9) After your new site comes up again properly, remember to reload the new stri ng resources using your admin site Go to Admin -> Misc -> String Resources. Select en-US. Click 'ReLoad fro m Excel File On Server' button. * After your upgrade is successfull and you have confirmed the integrity of the upgraded database. Then you can delete that backup. There is A LOT of data transformation that th e 7.0 version will do on the VERY FIRST TIME you load it, so it is best to have a FULL DB backup in case anything goes wrong on the upgrade!! * Upgrade your db first, by running ONE of the db upgrade scripts provided. You only have to run one. Run the one that starts with the major.minor version number you are using. If you are on v6.1.(anything), run the Upgrade_6.1.x.x_to_current.sql script. If you are on any v6.2.(anythin g) version, run the 6.2.x.x upgrade script. You do not need to run both scripts (ever). This is a change from any prior upgrade procedure you may be used to with our software. * the default admin site login is now changed to strong the strong password form at: * email: admin@aspdotnetstorefront.com * password: Admin$11

* in v7.0+, the admin site will always log you out after 15 minutes of inactivit y, per PABP requirements. * in v7.0+, the admin site login no longer has a "remember me" option * in v7.0+, the admin users must use strong passwords, at least 8 characters lon g, consisting of upper and lowercase letters, a number, and a symbol (e.g. $@!%&*...) * in v7.0+, please refer to the new manual documents for PABP best practices for setting up and managing your site. (These will be posted shortly) * in v7.0+, if you lose your password, or if a customer does, there is NO way to recover it. You, or the customer, must request a new one-time-use-only password, which must be changed again on next login. * in v7.0+, the FIRST time you load it, the application start on the web site wi ll convert all old encrypted credit card and password information into the new salt+hashed or salt+encrypte d formats automatically. The first application start therefore may take a minute or two. If you encounter ANY err or during the first load of the new site. Correct the problem, and then touch the web.config file (or iisr eset the machine), so that the next attempt to laod will STILL FIRE the application start logic. This is esse ntial! * These changes affect ALL editions (ML, Express, C# and VB). * This release now requires that admin users periodically change their passwords * MANY AppConfig parameters are now marked as viewable or editable by only the A dmin Superusers! * the AppConfig:Admin_SuperUsers value is NO longer used. On upgrade, those admi n user records are properly updated so they retain superuser status, then that appconfig is dropped from y our database. * You should now use the COnfiguration Wizard to encrypt your web.config DBConn and EncryptKey strings. Do this right afer you bring up the new admin site and successfully login. * All tax rates are now assigned to a "Tax Class ID". a default Tax Class is add ed for you on upgrade (Generic) and all current tax rates and products are mapped to that TaxClassID (ID=1). DO NO T EVER DELETE TaxClassID 1 from your database. You can change it's name if you want, but DO NOT DELETE it. All prod ucts by default are assigned to that tax class, so if you delete it, the tax rate calculation for those products wi ll be undefined.
