Dale Brown
I am currently a second year student attending University of Birmingham, studying a BA History degree on a three year course. I consider myself to be punctual, reliable and hard working. Furthermore, I am writing to express my great desire considered for this vacancy and present this for your viewing. I am skilled in written work and confident in both verbal and typed communication; I can deliver information with confidence, accuracy and reliability and have experience in both customer care and call centre customer service currently. As a student studying for a degree currently, during my educational studies and work life I have picked up essential skills that have proved invaluable. For instance, the pressure of high expectations and exams has meant I have prioritised my work in order to complete tasks successfully and on time. Being organised is essential in most aspects of daily life; however at work it is essential. I consider myself highly organised efficient in the work I carry out, ensuring a careful balance of tasks being performed thoroughly, yet also in good time. Another key aspect I have acquired is to demonstrate excellent team working abilities and treating colleagues with respect and courtesy. By treating fellow employees with the same well mannered attitude as with customers then a positive atmosphere can be promoted. This is the attitude I display; I am self motivating, motivational towards others, and eager to engage in positive communication to have tasks dealt with swiftly and properly. 2005 (2 months) Clippers unisex hairdressers- Solihull Worked for two months as a junior assistant by cleaning, preparing work stations and other cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and friendly environment for customers. 2006 (1 month) Birmingham College of Food, Leisure and Tourism Successfully completing two weeks of work experience serving customers at front of house, learning basic food hygiene and preparation skills and managing to prepare and cook various meals on a large scale for paying customers. I learned a multitude of new skills here such as team working and the importance of good listening abilities. Furthermore, I managed to successfully

co-ordinate my activities by organising myself and working to set time to ensure the tasks were completed to the best standard. 2006-8 (18 months) Solihull News paper round- Solihull Preparing and distributing the local newspaper, The Solihull News to the local area, communicating with local residents and ensuring my task was carried out thoroughly and safely. This role gave me a basis in learning to work to time and also co-operating with other people and being mindful of the safety of others property and household. 2009-10- Clare Royston Foot Health Small Business This was a gap year spent helping an entrepreneurial client improve her own small business in foot care by distributing information and printing material to promote and further the business to local residents around the West Midlands. This gave me vital experience in communication skills and organisation; by contacting printing agencies looking for the best deals and organising the production and distribution of the information I also advertised and marketed the rising company to a number of different regions to expand its customer base and consequently its profit margins. As of now the company is well established and successfully thriving in this sector and I feel proud to have been a part of this from the beginning.

2010-present McDonalds Customer Care Host For a year now I have been working as a Customer Care Assistant for McDonalds, Temple Row, Birmingham, attending customers needs and requirements as well as working as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe environment and customer satisfaction. Whilst working here I have learned the value of dedicated customer care and taking part in close dialogue with customers every concerns to ensure they come away with the best possible experience. As well as this I have a wide range of other roles such as maintaining the hygiene standards and general cleanliness of the lobby area and making sure every customer and staff member has the safety they require. Furthermore in my current employment I have had to work as a committed member of a team taking instructions for which I had to dissect the information and carry out with immediate effect, working in co ordination with other members to ensure speed is met with accuracy and efficiency. I have held this position throughout my University studies and hard work is no stranger to me- and I have often worked multiple shifts whilst completing university essays, some of which I have achieved high 2:1s and a first. This corroborates my earlier point that I can multitask whilst not

compromising on quality and efficiency. Teamwork and leadership are vital to this position and are aspects of the job which I can carry forth to your company and which I feel provide me with a foundation of experience for the role. My proficiency in my job has earned me consistent appraisal from my superiors both through annual work performance reviews and through a day to day reliance that my shifts result in work being completed efficiently and thoroughly.

2011 May-July Customer Care Assistant Moreover, I also engaged in a part time self employed role at Anglian Home Improvements as a customer care telephone operator in which I contacted existing customers to inform of current promotions and offers and ensure customer satisfaction is maintained. This required customer service skills and a calm, professional verbal manner. Organisation and self motivation were also fundamental and something I now feel very confident in practising. From my time in a Call Centre I learned to listen to every specific detail of the customers requirements to the smallest detail. Failure to do so would result in complaints and a poor handling of the job by the company. I am committed to developing myself personally, and through my skills acquirements in this role I feel that I have now attained a proficiency of customer care that will benefit your company and the role I seek within it.

University of Birmingham 2010-2013 BA History- Undergraduate currently in 2nd year.

I am committed to developing myself personally, and in my skills acquirements and feel that I will truly benefit this vacancy role. In my spare time I enjoy reading a wide range of literature as well as being up to date with current events. I take part in many social activities with friends and family and consider myself someone who can interact with people easily and with great confidence. I am willing to go the extra mile to achieve this and I believe that I am right for the job. For example in my University studies I have been placed in group situations whereby I have taken leadership and directed the project towards an agenda I felt suitable for the task that was given. In doing so I had to communicate clearly and effectively with the group and highlight a number of manageable goals which would take us forward to completing the project. I believe that I have the necessary skills for this position and am eager to start a new career to improve my confidence and further my abilities, giving 100%, in every task I face and would love the chance to work, or at least have a trial period, at your company. Any feedback or further information would be kindly appreciated.
