News, Announcements and Updates for Friendship House Teacher

Game On!

Our 2012 winter/spring semester is underway! Thanks to all of you for teaching, reaching and preaching! The International students who seek the assistance of Friendship House are much richer for the toil and talent you bring to our ministry. Thank you!

Program Growth

As of todays date, we are offering 26 classes Monday through Saturday with 214 class seats occupied by Internationals from 18 countries. We have 7 Bible study classes and 19 English conversation
Clyde and students from his English Conversation class

classes taught by 30 teachers and tutors. Wow! We thank God for all of you, all of our volunteers and all of our

students!

Friendship House Changes

Over the semester break some changes were made in our Friendship House layout that will hopefully keep us on the path to continual improvement. As you may recall from other communications from us, donors recently favored Friendship House with in-kind contributions of an entertainment center, piano and flat screen TV, all of which are now in our living room area. A combination DVD/VCR player is hooked up to the TV and can be used for or by your students. The Bible shelves have been relocated to a more prominent position in that room. The electronic piano, now temporarily in the office, will be moved to the Garden Room classroom. The projection screen that had been in the living room was re-hung in the dining room classroom and is perfectly situated for use with our laptop projector if you want to start using these tools in the classes held in that area. Another donor made possible the purchase of a new four-foot-by-eight-foot whiteboard for installation in the second floor classroom. That classroom is being repainted this weekend before the whiteboard is put up. Don Christensen has been doing his usual yeomans service at Friendship House, doing everything from moving the projection screen to replacing electrical outlets to repairing plumbing (in addition to his duties as Board member, teacher and tutor!). In addition, Don just built a ramp for the front door of Friendship House to permit access to our building by persons needing that assistance. Thank you, Don!

Fund Appeal

Our December fund appeal was very humbling, gratifying and successful. The number of donors and their collective generosity increased over the previous year and helped Friendship House have a strong finish to 2011 and a strong start to 2012. Thanks to all and especially to God for sharing important resources with our ministry!
